Really, Bierfest had started at least a week before. However, it hadn't officially been named as such. The taverns, bars and inns knew how easily and wonderful it would be to capitalize on the upcoming tradition, and had decked their halls to the nines, trotted out the appropriate dishes, and started importing various brews as well as booking tastings well ahead of time. Several Kerwonian flags, and decorations hung across tavern stairs, and a low hum of entertainment and good cheer roamed around. Most Kerwonian born inhabitants of Emillion revealed at the nod to their homelands, and anyone who wasn't still enjoyed the good spirit and generally matching drinks. A 'holiday' to drink, it was touted by some, and honestly? They wouldn't be completely incorrect as Kerwonian drinking songs could be heard being belted out by drunked and sober patrons alike.
However, a taste of home - with some vendors and sales tasting far better to a discerning palette or perhaps a real Kerownian - would be on full display, and caused many a Valendian to flock and circle about speciality offers or vendors as they became more and more regularly available. Of course, there were traditional games, tales, songs, foods and other such attractions laid out as well. If the sales men and women were going to take advantage of drunken patrons, why not make as many avenues of revenue possible available to those who wished to throw away their gil? Even a few actual Kerwonian entertainers, and cooks had made it to Emillion's streets, their various distinct accents giving them away the second they spoke. The quality and level of tradition placed into such productions was easily ten times what any Valendian born merchant could manage, and many flocked around them, making it hard to get a word or purchase in edgewise. Regardless of where one would end up good cheer, good beer, heavy food, and smiling faces were easy to be found because what else would anyone expect when Beirfest was abounds? |
