Foxtrot (Percy/Harry, G)
Title: Foxtrot
Pairing: Percy/Harry
Rating: G
Word Count: 365
Warnings: Epilogue kids (but it's not epilogue compliant!)
Disclaimer: Not mine. JKR's.
Summary: Hermione's children are terrible dancers.
Notes: For [info]mnemosyne_1 who requested Percy/Harry, "dance".

Hermione wanted her children to learn how to dance. She insisted upon it, despite Ron rolling his eyes when he thought she wasn't looking.

Percy was never quite sure how he was the one elected to teach them, but since neither Hermione nor Ron could manage a simple two-step, and Bill, the only other decent dancer in the family, was busy with his own children, Percy it was.

The children had all the grace of their parents on the dance floor, which was to say none at all, and after the dozenth turn around the floor, Hugo resembling a young elephant and Rose a water buffalo, Percy had had enough. He stopped the music and sighed and took off his glasses, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Let me show you," he said with all the patience he could muster, "One. Last. Time." He put his specs back on and reached out his hand for Rose's, but before she could cross the room to take it, Harry poked his head in the door.

"Still going at it, then?" he asked good-naturedly, and Percy, weary though he was, managed to smile.

Harry did tend to have a fortifying effect on him.

He flicked his wand at the record player and the music began again.

"Harry," he said, "May I?" He extended his hand to Harry, then, and, after a pause, Harry nodded and took it with a wondering smile.

They weren't the best-matched couple, Percy too tall and both of them struggling to lead, but after a moment, they fell into a natural rhythm, their eyes locked, smiles playing over their mouths.

"Ha-ha, Harry's a girl," laughed Hugo from the corner, but Percy only held Harry's hand fast and tightened his arm about Harry's waist, and the two of them glided over the floor until the song ended.

The record crackled and hissed, going round and round with nothing more to impart, but Percy couldn't move. His eyes were still locked on Harry's; their hands were still clasped.

"Children," Percy heard himself say, "You may be excused."

And when the children had scampered away and slammed shut the door, that was when Percy finally kissed Harry.
