Summary: Percy writes to Ginny upon the birth of Albus Severus.
Notes: For auntbijou, who requested Percy, thinking over why he hated Snape so much, and what he thought Snape did wrong as a teacher. And he can't understand why his sister and her husband would ever want to name an innocent baby after him! I kind of figure that Percy thinks he's caused enough trouble with letters and with the distancing himself from the family thing, so this is what he does when he can't quite say what he really wants to say.


Dear Ginny,

So it's Albus Severus Potter, is it? For all our sakes, let us hope that the poor child takes after his first namesake and not his second. Not that Dumbledore was what I'd call stable much of the time, but why anyone would name a child after such a cruel, cold man as Severus Snape is absolutely beyond the scope of my understanding.

I am, of course, aware of Snape's loyalty to and his work for the Order of the Phoenix, and naturally I respect that he sacrificed himself for what I suppose we must call the greater good. However, I question the legacy you have bestowed upon a child who cannot, as yet, even speak or roll over or do anything remotely useful or entertaining deserves a better effort than can't possibly have offended you so badly in the few short hours he has been alive.

Perhaps you've forgotten the abuse and ridicule you suffered whilst being instructed by our dear departed Potions master. I, however, have not, and would love to have the opportunity to remind you of some of his more charming qualities. Perhaps over tea some afternoon?

You'll do what you like, though, of course, you and Harry. You both always did. I know we're a pureblooded family but do we have to give our children names as stupid as the ones the Malfoys choose?

Percy sighed as he reread the letter, then took out his wand and cast Incendio. When the parchment bearing his true feelings was nothing but ash, he took up a fresh sheet and began anew.
