Christmas with Charlie (Charlie/Draco, G)
Title: Christmas with Charlie
Pairing: Charlie/Draco
Rating: G
Word Count: 145
Warnings: None.
Disclaimer: Not mine. JKR's.
Summary: Draco and Charlie spend their first Christmas together, and Draco figures something out.
Notes: An Advent Drabble for [info]secretsolitaire, who requested Charlie/Draco, "first Christmas together".

When Draco was a child, Christmas was a lavish affair. The house-elves dressed him before he was allowed to peek at his presents, dressed him in frilly robes with scratchy collars that made Draco cross. The presents were often worth it, though—his father brought Draco an array of toys that he deemed appropriate, and Draco sorted through them for the least breakable, the least fussy, and played with that until breakfast.

And now Christmas is much quieter, just the two of them on the sofa, and Draco won't admit that he frowns a little at the modest pile of gifts under their tree, but he does. But then Charlie comes in with eggnog for both of them and stokes the fire and takes Draco in his arms, and a spark inside Draco flares, and Draco thinks he finally understands what Christmas is really about.

Very warm and sweet! Draco getting used to a different sort of family, and a different sort of love, and Charlie just the bloke to show him. ♥

Very sweet. Yes, he would need to get used to a completely different take on the holiday, and that's all to the good.

Thanks, and I'm glad you think it was Draco-ish--I have a really hard time writing him.

Eeeee, thank you, this was incredibly sweet! One of the things I love about this pairing is their disparity in background; Charlie is never going to spoil Draco the way he's used to, but (as you show here) he'll give him what's really important. Thank you. ♥

Mmmm; as everyone has said, very sweet! The detail that Draco still wishes there was a big pile of presents, even though he appreciates what he has instead, is perfect.

At least there are no more frilly robes with scratchy collars! And now he has a dragon-tamer all his own, so that certainly makes up for the lack of presents!

This was delightful - the contrast between then and now, the portrait you sketch of his earlier Christmases, the fact you don't gloss over the fact he's still noticing the size of the gift pile, though he's learning to appreciate a new way. The coziness of it. Very enjoyable!

Thank you so much! It really means a lot that you liked my Draco as I find him horrifyingly difficult to write.

So I have no idea why...

But this? "...dressed him in frilly robes with scratchy collars that made Draco cross," Is my absolute favorite line. I would say it makes the drabble, but really it just enhances it for me because the whole thing is absolutely lovely.

♥!

*snuggles* Thank you honey! This was a bit of a lazy, late-night drabble, honestly--rather adjective-filled, but I remember you likeing the adjectives, so I am really glad you liked it! ♥ times a trillion!
