Notes: An Advent Drabble for
secretsolitaire, who requested Charlie/Draco, "first Christmas together".
When Draco was a child, Christmas was a lavish affair. The house-elves dressed him before he was allowed to peek at his presents, dressed him in frilly robes with scratchy collars that made Draco cross. The presents were often worth it, though—his father brought Draco an array of toys that he deemed appropriate, and Draco sorted through them for the least breakable, the least fussy, and played with that until breakfast.
And now Christmas is much quieter, just the two of them on the sofa, and Draco won't admit that he frowns a little at the modest pile of gifts under their tree, but he does. But then Charlie comes in with eggnog for both of them and stokes the fire and takes Draco in his arms, and a spark inside Draco flares, and Draco thinks he finally understands what Christmas is really about.
