Glorfindel pulled his new pet through the market place. He was so excited when his Ada gifted him with his new pet. He best friend Ecthelion had received his a few years before and was always tell him how great it was to take care of his pet. He finally had one, one of his very own. One to take care of, to feed, to bath, and to have sleep in his bed with him. He had promised his Ada that he would take good care of it. He knew how special it was to receive a pet. As he hurried along he could see the other elves smiling at his new pet. There were not many pets with such beautiful black hair as his had. Most had blond or brown hair. As he came to the training field he tied his new pet with the other pets. Reminding him to be good he patted his head and went off.
After practice he returned to retrieve his pet, as he approached he frowned as he noticed that his pet was sitting away from the others. Picking up his leash he headed home, he could not wait to bathe his new pet; he stopped on the way back home at a shop and brought some special oils and a brush. As he was walking out he noticed some petty red ribbons, picking up the ribbons, he grinned to himself at the thought of braiding them in his pets hair.
After the evening meal Glorfindel had taking his new pet to his bathing chambers and it was not long before he had his pet washed and seated in front of him. As he brushed the long black hair a thought came to his mind, “do you have a name;” he asked his new pet?
At receiving no answer he moved to where he could raise his pet’s chin to meet his eyes, “I asked what your name is?”
“I do not have one. They taught us that our masters would name us if they thought we needed one” was replied in barely a whisper.
“Will I think you do need one, How about Erestor?“ Glorfindel asked.
When no reply came Glorfindel pulled on a piece of hair saying, “I do expect you to answer me when I ask you a question. Do I make my self-clear, Erestor?”
Erestor nodded his head as he lowered his eye as he had been taught. This elf confused him greatly. He had been taught what to expect as a pet to a Lord. He had been taught that he would bathe his Lord and he would do his hair, but here this Lord did these things to him instead. He had been taught to never speak to any elf higher then him self, and that he was not worth a name. This elf-Lord greatly confused him.
Soon Glorfindel had Erestor’s hair brushed and braided, with the new red ribbons in it. Pulling his pet to his feet Glorfindel pulled them to his bed. Pulling down the covers he guided Erestor to lie down and to move to the center, laying himself down he spooned up behind his pet, pulling him into his arms he promptly fell asleep.
Erestor stayed awake for a while wondering what was going on. Maybe this Elf-Lord was still too young. He had heard of some elf-pets not lasting very long, some faded within a week of being brought. He prayed that when the time came he too would fade. He hated being a pet, but he had to admit that if he had to be a pet, being this Elf-Lords pet steamed to be better then one could hope for.
Once again Erestor found himself being pulled through the crowded market streets of Gondolin. His Elf-Lord was in a hurry to get to the practice fields because his friend, a young Elf-Lord by the name of Ecthelion, had not been there the day before and so he was in a hurry to see if he was there today. Erestor tried to see as much as he could of all the shops. As he was pulled along he could see shops with fine clothing, shops with the most wonderful smelling sweet cakes, and shops with some things he had never seen. Once he had tried to see inside one shop in particular causing Glorfindel to yank on his arm to get him moving again. Again the thought crossed his mind that he wished he was free, but quickly dismissed the thought, as he would never be free.
Erestor did not want to go to the practice fields, as he knew he would be put with them awful pets he was with the day before. Some had broken arms and cuts and bruises all of them, other looked, as they would fade at any moment. While other seemed to not really be there. He hated to see what could become of him. Trying hard to rid him self of the imagines that were coming to his mind he almost tripped over Glorfindel when he finally came to a stop. Looking ahead he could see they had came to the practice fields, but as he looked he could see two elves standing apart from the others. It was to these elves that Glorfindel lead them. As he came closer he could tell that one was an Elf-Lord, while the other was a pet. Erestor had never seen an Elf-pet with that color hair, the pet had hair as white as the snow that fell in the colder months, and the bluest eyes Erestor had ever seen. He was so engrossed with the white-haired Elf-pet that he almost missed his Elf-Lord introducing him to the Elf-Lord Ecthelion. Looking to the Elf-Lord, Erestor did has he had been taught and bowed his head. Before anything more could be said the Elf-Lord’s tutor called the Lords over to began their training, and the two Elf-pets were left to entertain themselves. After the Elf-Lords had left the white-haired pet turned to him and said, “My name is Lindir. Has your Elf-Lord giving you a name?”
Looking toward his Elf-Lord Erestor very quietly answered, “Erestor.”
“A pretty name. Do not worry Erestor; Lord Glorfindel is like my Ecthelion. He will not mind us talking. You are lucky you were giving to Lord Glorfindel. Ecthelion and him have been friends for a very long time and both are good elves. They do not do the thing that the other Elf-Lord do to their Elf-pet.” Lindir told Erestor. Then in a very low whisper he added, “Unless you want too.”
Erestor’s eyes grew wide for he knew what Lindir was talking about. He had been taught exactly what Elf-Lord did to Elf-pets and ever since he had learned that he had feared it happening to him, for most Elf-pets did not last long after. “I do not think I would like that.” He quietly said.
“Erestor it is not always like they taught us. With the right Elf-Lord it can be pleasurable.” Lindir informed Erestor. “Do not worry about it now, Lord Glorfindel is still a little young for that yet.” Lindir added seeing the worried look Erestor was giving him.
“Do you... does your Elf-Lord... I mean?” Erestor tried to ask.
Lindir taking pity on the little one finished, “Do my Elf-Lord and myself do those thing?”
Erestor nodded his head.
“Yes and it is very pleasurable and he had never done anything to hurt me, and neither would Lord Glorfindel do anything to hurt you.” Lindir told the frightened Elf-pet. His Elf-Lord had told him that morning that he would meet Lord Glorfindel’s new pet and that he expected him to help the new pet to realize that what they taught them was not how it always was. It had taken his Elf-Lord months to show him what he was desperately trying to tell Erestor.
Erestor sat there for the remainder of the afternoon thinking about what Lindir had told him. When his Elf-Lord came to get him he was still thinking on this, and later after he had received another bath from his Elf-Lord and was again sitting in front of him while he combed and braided his hair he asked, “My Lord?”
“Yes, Erestor?” Glorfindel replied as he finished tying off the first braid.
“Lindir told me that you would never do anything to hurt me like the other Elf-Lords do to hurt their pet.” Erestor asked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hurt you, Erestor why would I hurt you? You are my pet, I care about you,” Glorfindel told him, after a minute of brushing his hair Glorfindel stopped and asked, “Erestor did Lindir say how the other Lord had hurt their pets,”
“NO but I do know that many pets fade soon after being brought, there was this one Elf-Lord who brought a new pet each week for about two months for his ion. I heard that the ion was killed while out on patrol,” Erestor informed Glorfindel
Glorfindel sat there for a few minutes before saying, “I thought that an elf only faded if their mate died.”
Erestor turned to look at Glorfindel surely he was not that young and innocent. “Um Glorfindel an elf can fade if he is taken against his will.”
Glorfindel eye got wide, “you mean elf lords rape their pets. Erestor, I would never do that to you.” Pulling Erestor to him he petted his hair saying, “You are my very own pet, to love, and care for, and protect. Never, never would I do that to you.”
Erestor rested his head against Glorfindel’s shoulder while thinking to himself that yes being this Elf-Lord’s pet would be just fine, just fine indeed.
Erestor woke as the morning sun came streaming through the open window, raising he set out to do the little bit of chores that Glorfindel had let him began doing, as he worked he thought back on the last few months. It had been hard to get Glorfindel to agree to let him do the little that he did, in the end it was Ecthelion that had convinced him that Erestor would not be happy just sitting around. So now every morning Erestor would lie out Glorfindel clothes and retrieve breakfast for the both of them, and every night he would draw a bath for them both. As his thought drifted from the joy he received in taking care of his Elf-Lord they came to the night before and their first kiss. Glorfindel had been giving him his bath when in washing his chest he grazed his nipple, a soft moan had escaped his lips causing both to stop and stare at the other, slowly Glorfindel had leaned in and places a chaste kiss to his lips. Blushing he quickly finished bathing him, and as he dressed they give each other fleeting looks every few moments, then quickly looking away blushing. When they had crawled into bed, Glorfindel and he laid facing each other, tenderly cresting each other’s face. As Glorfindel leaned in closer, Erestor closed his eyes. Feeling the fleeting crest against his lips, Erestor placed his hands against Glorfindel’s chest as Glorfindel pulled him into his arms, deepening the kiss. When the need for air had became too much the two had separated. Erestor had curled more in to Glorfindel’s arms, resting his head on his shoulder, he feel asleep. Blushing again at the memory he finished his chore so they would not be late to the training field. He could not wait to tell Lindir what had happened.
~~~~~~~~
Erestor and Lindir were curled up together asleep when Glorfindel and Ecthelion came to collect them that next afternoon. Glorfindel smiled at the sight of the two. “They look sweet together like that,” He said to Ecthelion.
“That they do, I almost hate to wake them, but my stomach calls for food.” Ecthelion replied.
Laughing Glorfindel patted Ecthelion on the back saying, “let’s wake them and find it some food then.” Kneeling to the ground, Glorfindel gently pushed the hair off of Erestor’s face.
Ecthelion noticed the look in Glorfindel’s eye, such love was forbidding, and only great hurt could come if any found out about it. Closing his eyes to hide his own fear at losing Lindir, if it was found out the entirety of his love for his own pet, Lindir would lose his life. Both knew this and tried to hide their love from others. “Glorfindel, let them sleep awhile longer I wish to speak to you first.” Ecthelion said as he motioned for Glorfindel to come with him.
After a few minutes Ecthelion stopped and rested his foot on an old tree stump. Looking up at nothing in particular he started, “Many years ago, mind you I was quite young, there was an Lord who feel so in love with his pet that he wished to bond with him. I remember my Ada talking to one of his men about it.” Stopping briefly he turned to Glorfindel before continuing, “Glorfindel, they hung that pet for daring to become more then what he was.”
Glorfindel was quite for a moment before asking, “What happened to the Lord?”
“Nothing, oh do not get me wrong. He was called before the king who cautioned him to control himself next time. Next time. His pet loses his life and he gets nothing, that poor elf, never forget Glorfindel that Erestor is still an Elf, he was just unfortunate to lose his parents, it could have happened to any servant.”
“Ecthelion why are you telling me this?” Glorfindel asked.
“Because I have seen the way you look at Erestor and I wish to caution you.” Holding his hand up to stop the reply he continued, “I understand the way you feel for I feel the same for Lindir, but I care enough to hid those feelings around others.” He finished
“I understand,” Glorfindel replied.
The two stood there a while longer till Ecthelion turn to Glorfindel saying, “Enough of this we have hungry pets, off with us to feed them.

Over the next couple of weeks plans for a cerebration in honor of Ecthelion and Glorfindel’s reaching the rank of caption were under way, much to the displeasure of the two. Every were the two went, there was someone wanting to congregate them or partake so piece of wisdom on them. Two days before the cerebration was to take place tragedy struck in the form of a missing patrol parity of which both Glorfindel and Ecthelion Adas were part of. What made it worse for the two as they were suppose to be on that patrol but their Ada’s had taking their places to insure the two would be there for the ceremony. The day the cerebration was to take place the remains of the two Lords were found, both killed by orcs. In less then a week their Nanas joined their Adas. Each new Lord took the deaths of their parents differently. Ecthelion looked to his secret love to help him through, while Glorfindel took the guilt into him. For weeks no one saw him and when they did his beloved pet was not with him, many a rumors went around that he had started taken the guilt of his parent’s death out on his poor pet, but none knew the truth which was hurting Lindir more with each passing day, he begged his Lord to check on his friend. It was another three days before Ecthelion found time to go see Glorfindel as he was finding the job of being Lord of a great house was greatly demanding of his time. Upon arriving at the House of the Golden Flower Lindir and he was shown in to a small waiting room and asked to wait, which surprise him as he had always had free range of the house. A few moments later Glorfindel came into the room asking what he needed as he was extremely busy.
“I thought maybe you and Erestor would join Lindir and I for dinner tonight,” he asked.
“Erestor is not feeling well today, and I am much too busy. Maybe another night.” Glorfindel replied.
“Erestor is not feeling well? May I see him?” Lindir asked.
“Why do you want to see him?” demanded Glorfindel.
“No reason other then I have not seen him in awhile and he is my friend, “ answered Lindir.
Glorfindel looked angrily at Ecthelion saying, “You should teach your pet to mind his place Lord Ecthelion.”
Ecthelion grabbed Lindir and headed out of the room saying, “excuse us Lord Glorfindel, I offer my apologies for the inconveniences to you today.
As they left the house Lindir had a great fear that he would never see his friend again.
Glorfindel sat in his darkened chambers drinking the liquid from his glass. He had found an excellent stock of hard liquor in his Ada’s private study, which was now his, the great Lord of the Golden Flower. As the anger growing he stood and threw the glass shattering it to pieces as it hit against the wall. A small whimper coming from the bed brought his attention back to the elf tried there. The cause of his problems, if it had not been from it thing, his Ada would still be alive. It was entirely his fault and he would pay, and he would pay dearly. Picking up the whip he brought it across the already abused back, earning him the scream he wanted to hear. Walking up to the elf he grabbed the piece of cloth, tying it around the elf’s face gagging him, he said, “as much as I want to hear you scream, we just can not have someone coming to rescue you till you have paid now can we?”
Satisfy that no one would hear him; Glorfindel moved back to his previous stop he brought the whip down again, and again, he continued until his arm started to hurt. Putting the whip back down he went to see the damage he had inflicted on the other. Noticing that the elf had passed out anger once again boiled up inside of him at the thought of the elf not taken his punishment. Grabbing the vile of smelling salts he had gotten from a healer earlier in the week, he woke the elf saying, “You will not get out of your punishment that easily. Anyway we do have to clean those new wounds. We would not want the to get infected now would we.”
Taking the bottle of liquor he had been drinking earlier he pulled the solution on to the battered back, earning him a scream he could hear even with the gag in the elf’s mouth. “You deserve this do you not?” he demanded as he slapped the injured elf across the face.
Erestor closed his eyes as he shook his head. Wishing that he were anywhere but there. The beatings had started not long after Glorfindel’s mother had faded. He knew why he blame him, he had heard the fight between Glorfindel and his Ada about him, he had heard Glorfindel tell his Ada he wished him dead, that he hoped he would not return from the patrol he was headed out on. The day word had reached them of his death Glorfindel had hit him so hard he had flown across the room. Then after his Nana had died too, Glorfindel had changed from the loving, caring elf he had been into what was the elf Erestor had grown to hate with all of his being.
~~~~~~~~
Erestor slowly came to awareness to the sound of someone singing softly with his head in said person’s lap, the pain was so unbearable he soon slipped back into unconsciousness.
The next time he came too he could hear elves arguing, he thought it sounded like Glorfindel and Ecthelion. He hear Glorfindel saying, ‘I need to see him and Ecthelion replying ‘I think you should leave. You have done enough to him. You will be lucky if he lives.’ It nearly broke his heart to hear Glorfindel saying defeatedly, ‘Just please tell him, for what it may be worth, that I am sorry, and that I do love him’
As Erestor tried to move so he could see him pain shot throughout his body causing him to moan.
Glorfindel hearing the moan rushed pass Ecthelion before he could stop him, blending down beside the bed he took Erestor’s hand placing kisses to it saying, “I am so sorry my love, please forgive me, I will do anything, please.” He begged as tears fell from his eyes. Never did he think he could feel as bad as he did know. Looking back he just could not justify his action. It did not matter he had been drinking. It did not matter Ecthelion and he had gotten into another fight. No, none of it mattered. Never would he forgive himself for what he had done to him. He just hoped that Erestor would for give him.
“I just can not, not right now, please just leave.” Was the response he received?
Bowing his head Glorfindel stood and turned to leave saying, “I give him to you Ecthelion. Please take good care of him.” Then he left.
Lindir looked down at the sleeping head in his lap and then to his love, “he had passed back out,” he said with tear filled eyes. Never had he seen anyone with the amount of injuries Erestor had. His heart just about broke when the healer showed up at Ecthelion’s door with the unconscious elf. From what he had heard Ecthelion had gone back over to Glorfindel demanding to see Erestor, When Glorfindel refused again, Ecthelion had became mad and hit Glorfindel telling him what he thought of him. Glorfindel’s guards had to brake the two apart and escorted him to the door, after he had left, Glorfindel had started drinking again and had so severely beating Erestor that he could not wake him, afraid that he had killed him he called a healer. After being told he was alive he had sent him and the healer to Ecthelion’s house that had been a week ago. A fever had set in not long after he had arrived and had only just broke that morning. Erestor had been drifting in and out of consciousness all morning. Lindir’s heart ached at his friends pain, he did not know what the future would bring, but he vowed he would never let anyone hurt him ever again.
~~~~~~~~`
Erestor sit in one of the exquisite, spacious gardens of Ecthelion’s home waiting for the lord of said house to return from his summons before the King. A summons had arrived early that morning for Ecthelion to justify his reasons for having two pets, when the law stated that a Lord could only have one pet at a time. It had weighted heavily on his mind ever since the night that Glorfindel had released him into Ecthelion’s care. What would happen to him now that he was too scarred to be a pet, for who would want him now? He had no skills to make a living on his own and now way to acquire them, he had prayed that he would be allowed to stay as a member of Ecthelion’s house and learn those skills once he had healed enough, but it looked as if that may not be the case.
Glorfindel stood behind the wall that lead into Ecthelion’s garden watching Erestor as his thoughts took him to a place none could follow. He had also received a summons from the King to explain why he had turn over ownership of his pet to Ecthelion. He could not tell the real reason, that he could not let his love for him show, not when everything he had ever loved was now gone. It was best to not love anymore, then to love and be hurt in the end, but he had failed and hurt the on being that he loved more then anyone. Would he ever forgive him? The King had now giving him the opportunity to try. Ecthelion and he had a choice, either Erestor was returned to him, or he was to be sent to a pet house. Glorfindel shivered at the thought of his beloved pet being in such a place. He had never been in one, but he had heard of them. They were a place were any could come and do anything the so wished to a pet. Many never lasted a full week. No, that was not were he would be going. He would be returning to his house, but as he was his to do with as he pleased Glorfindel had decided to make him a scribe. He would be safe there.
Glorfindel walked into the garden, walking up to Erestor he spoke as not to frighten the abused elf, “Erestor?” As the dark brown eyes the loved so much looked up at him he fall to his knees begging the elf before him to forgive him for all he had done.
Erestor did not know what to think here was the Lord of a great house, on his knees with his head in his lap crying like a newborn elfling, begging for his forgiveness. Forgiveness that he did not know if he could give, forgiveness that for his sake he had too.
From a window above the garden Lindir stood with the arms of his master and lover around him, watching the incidence down below with both hope and fear, hope that the healing had finally begun, and fear that a repeat of the pain would happen again.
