We gotta get outta this place
((Locked to [info]wortcunning, [info]supermans_dead, and [info]lost_myself for the first part. Locked to [info]wortcunning, [info]haganenomore, and [info]puddle_of_grace for the second part.))

Winry deposited her bags from the market on the kitchen counter of her apartment once she got home. "Sheska, can you put the groceries away?" she called into the spare room that acted as a library for Sheska's many, many books. "I have to get to the clinic, we've got a patient looking for some prescription refills."

She grabbed her cellphone while she talked, punching speed dial for Russell's cell.

"Of course you can," Ed said blandly in response.

"Elizabeth Elric. You already knew that there's one of him around somewhere. Also, it's a bit late to back out now." Ed reached out to take a firm grip on her arm with one arm to make sure she didn't try to bolt her way back down the stairs and rapped on the door with the knuckles of his free hand.

With a pencil behind his ear, and a red pen clenched between his teeth, holding a stack of print-outs in one hand that he was going over for Ken's treatment, Russell opened the door.

"Yesh?" he mumbled around the pen, eyeing Ed and the female trying to flee.

"You didn't tell me he worked at the clinic!" she hissed in protest, but that was about all she got out before the door opened and oh god. Elizabeth made a point of not looking at Russell, flushed scarlet and looking ready to topple.

She hadn't even been ready to face the one from her own world, now she's got to deal with another one? God.

"I don't normally come here because I don't get sick so I wasn't thinking about it," Ed informed her before turning his attention to Russell.

"Hi. She's an alt that currently has issues with her own version of you. Is Winry in?"

Russell blinked. And blinked again. A female Edward with issues about him? ...Nexus. LOL.

"Uh, yeah. C'm-" He reached up and pulled the pen out of his mouth. "Sorry, come on in." He looked at Elizabeth closer, and immediately dropped the paperwork on a nearby table, and took her by the wrist. "Come on, sit down," he ordered as he ushered her in and over to an exam table. "Winry! We have a new patient!"

Elizabeth smacked Ed's arm. "You didn't have to be so blunt, you jackass!" she said, just before Russell grabbed her wrist and dragged her into the clinic.

"Goddamnit! What is it with you men thinking I have to be dragged around like a dog on a leash?!"

Thankfully for you, Russell, she wasn't putting up more than that as a fight and she dutifully climbed up onto the exam table like a good patient.

Winry's first thought was "Another one?" Her second thought was that she didn't recognize the female voice, and her third thought was that she did recognize that style of protesting.

She turned off the monitor to the computer and got up, heading for the main room. She stopped in the doorway, looking at Elizabeth critically. "I thought I recognized that protesting. A female alternate of Ed, I take it?"

"Ow," is Ed's bland response to Elizabeth hitting him. "And yeah. She wandered into the Nexus from a hospital and thought she was high on morphine. Therefore, imagining things."

"Morphine?" Russell repeated with an arched eyebrow as he glanced back to Ed while reaching for a stethoscope. "Christ, what did you manage to do to yourself this time? Male or female, you're still an Elric, all right." He put the ear pieces around his neck for the time being and flashed a penlight in her eyes while reaching for her wrist with his free hand, and testing her pulse.

"Slight dilation, weak pulse, cold hands," he said, and glanced down as he pocketed the pen light, looking at the back of her hands. "Mottled appearance, slight cyanosis of the skin setting in. That's it, lay down," he ordered, turning away to grab a blanket.

"Deny that it's not a reasonable assumption with this place!" she snapped from her place on the exam table. She shied back from Russell, but not technically enough to impede him, just enough to make herself feel a bit more comfortable about his proximity.

"I'm fine, I just-" And have a cramp, Elizabeth. Her legs curled up as she doubled over, clutching her abdomen. "I just need some damn laudanum or something."

Right, right, she wasn't going into shock from pushing herself too hard too soon after a rather major surgery, not at all. Nope, not her.

Winry groaned. "She's going into shock." She dug into another cupboard, fishing out the extra blankets and hurrying over to Russell with them. "I'll get her feet up," she said, passing the blankets off.

Ed looked guilty. "Looks like I shouldn't have let her spend as much time arguing with me as I did. Um, do you need me to do anything or should I just find a corner out of the way?"

Russell grabbed the blankets and started covering Elizabeth. "Stick around, would you? We might need you to play errand boy."

Elizabeth was less than impressed with all this fussing, but really, what did she expect, wandering around the ward before she really even should've been up? It should've been another week before she was really up and around. And that was taking her tendency to heal quickly into account.

"'m fine," she protested, curling up on the exam table while Russell covered her up. "I just gotta get back before Al knows I'm gone. He'll be worried."
