Staking the items on the counter, Sally had to bite her tongue to keep herself from speaking her mind. She wanted to say that she couldn't believe that Justin had already moved in with Megan. It seemed so fast, so exhausting. But who was she to chastise for a quick decision. Just a few months ago she practically showed up on his doorstep after running away from home.
Or being kicked out. Either way, it was hasty.
Besides, she already knew his rebuttal. He'd say that it was different, since he had known each other forever. They were best friends. It allowed them to skip so many steps. Steps that Sally would have savoured bite by bite. Or worse...he might tell her it was none of her business what he did. Who was she to have any say in what he did? No. That would be her response in the tables were reversed. Justin was too nice to say that.
"No, I'm not allergic to nuts," she finally replied. Sally took a quick glance at the recipe, mentally checking off each thing. When she was satisfied, she grabbed a knife and headed over the hunk of cheese. Like most types of blue cheese, it was a pungent one. "It's amazing how something so off putting can taste so delicious when complimented by the right ingredients," she smiled. Food had a way of easing Sally.
