Parvati had spent the last couple weeks hard at work on her studies, it was true, but she had also spent them annoyed at her sister. Each day the two went about their work, politely smiling at the other's recollection of their days, made dinner and ate it with a minimum of conversation, and spent the evenings in their own rooms working. Parvati was annoyed with the whole state of affairs since the Miles Incident. Her sister never came out and said she understood why Miles came over, and she had been perfectly pleasant, but Parvati was still seething at her sister's judgment. How dare she look down her nose at her because she chose to shag a handsome man every once in a while? To be honest, Miles had been the only man she had slept with since Ravi, she wasn't exactly throwing herself on anything that moved, thanks. But the implication of Padma's raised eyebrows and small sighs and head shakes were infuriating.
Finally, after weeks of steady work, she had caught up with her studies. In fact, at the moment she was ahead of the game, and was quite confident that her impending NEWTS would not be as awful as she had anticipated several months ago. The only respite from her studies had been her shifts at Eeylop's, which she had taken to enjoying much more than one would have thought. She grew quite fond of several of the owls offered for sale, particularly a Little Owl who had taken a shine to her and spent her shift chirping pleasantly to her (or at least when she had evening shifts). She had thought about buying it for her own, but hesitated. She loathed to think of Padma's reaction of bringing one home without consulting her, and she just didn't feel like having an in depth conversation with her just yet.
Leaving Eeylop's that early evening, Parvati thought about her annoyance, and it stirred something in her. What would break this tension? What would release this pent up resentment so they could go back to being the close twins they always were? Instead of turning towards Madam Malkin's and heading up to her flat, Paravati felt herself drawn farther on down Diagon. There, she stopped and looked up at the giant, moving sign that marked the entrance of Weasley's Wizarding Weezes. A smile spread across her face. Maybe a weeze was just the thing she needed to break the ice. She hurried across the road, and was pleased to find the store open. Pushing open the door, Parvati entered and was greeted by a pleasant chaos. There just had to be something in here for her.
