Who: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
What: Ron makes a slight mistake.
Where: Their flat.
When: Very early hours of Wednesday morning.
Rating: Low.
Theodore Nott had reminded Hermione that she wasn't the only one who thought she was responsible for Michael Corner's death, and the last thing she had written in his journal was sorry. It seemed more than appropriate now, and probably what caused her to be having the dream she was come Tuesday night. It was obvious that she had spoken too soon when she mentioned being free from nightmares this time around.
Standing in Flourish & Blotts, the suffocating dark was still the same. Except this time around, she and Michael were alone and she was saying I'm sorry over and over again. But it didn't make any difference. He was still going to die and it was still going to be her fault.
Waking with a start, Hermione's eyes snapped open to find nothing but darkness. That wasn't right. Ron had left the light on before she went to sleep, just like the night before. Coming straight from her dream, there were a few disorienting seconds where she thought she was back in the bookshop. Her cheeks damp, she realised she must have been crying and brushed the back of her hand across her face. Ignoring the stinging of the cut below her eye, she reached for her wand, managing to knock it off her pile of books and onto the floor.
Telling herself not to panic, she remembered that Ron was there beside her. Or he should be. Throwing a hand across to the other side of the bed, she said his name, following it with a plaintive, "Why is it dark?"
