Though Hermione had managed to push all of her own feelings aside in favour of Ron's for the past couple of weeks, whether he liked it or not; when it came time to sit through Molly and Arthur's funeral, she had limited success.
The morning had been fine, she had been directing people this way and that, using her innate bossiness to its full potential and distracting herself the best way she knew how. But the minute she stopped it all came crashing down to her, and as soon as the tears started they hadn't stopped. Ron's attempt at a speech certainly hadn't helped, and it still hurt more to watch him hurt than anything else.
Managing to calm herself down by the time they had gotten to the Wake, Hermione hadn't left his side for most of the day, though whether that was for Ron's benefit or hers was certainly debatable. She didn't know how long it was most appropriate for them to stay, but she was tired of forcing a smile and watching the Weasley family thank people for their sympathy.
