There was a certain amount of freedom that came to attending a fancy social function without a date. And while Sally-Anne had been forced to purchase herself a flowering corsage for the evening, she was in no way disheartened. In the end, she had chosen a set of cream colored dress robes with gold thread embroidered into the fabric for a hint of detail. Behind her ear, a matching flower completed the ensemble. It was simple and understated, exactly how Sally liked to appear in these situations.
A smile crept onto her face once she entered the building. For a moment, she had forgotten all the stress of work and home and was completely absorbed in the festiveness of the occasion. The lights sparkled, the decorations glittered and the serving trays of delicious food that floated by looked enticing.
Sally helped herself to a glass of champagne and made her way over to one of the patrons of Demeter, Mr. Fitzgerald, to make small talk.
