Walter fell with a heavy thud onto a patch of black grass, long since dead after his training.
Everything ached, and his nerves felt like they were on fire. He couldn't even see properly as he tried to reach for the sky, but he couldn't even move his hand. Walter's head also felt like it was going to explode. For a moment, he entertained that thought, letting his dying head recreate so many scenarios, some of which were actually amusing and nothing short of the imagination of a child.
At any rate, he seemed content to stay in that spot until the pain subsided, but it didn't look like it was going to.
In the months following the experiment, it didn't seem that the demon was as strong as it usually was, but Walter was still being somewhat tormented and mentally tortured by Valtiel every so often, if only to remind Walter that he was not alone. Sometimes, it was comforting; to have someone to talk to whenever he wanted (Even if the person wasn't really a person at all, but a demon who wanted to kill two of the people whom were kind to Walter in the first place or at leasst acted like it.)
At any rate, he thought he heard someone coming around his place in the woods, and tried to pull himself to at least a sitting position. He inhaled briskly, and tried to force his aching muscles and bones to work, but it didn't work too well. Walter broke into a cold sweat, and tried to at least keep still and quiet, to let the person, or whatever it was, pass him by peacefully.
