Anti Edward Elric 2/??? Background: Edward Elric is a boy running from mistakes and yet driven to fix them. When he was young, his father left his small family and never returned. His mother grew ill and died, leaving him and his little brother alone in the world. He turned to the alchemy he had been learning and studying with his little brother on his own for a way to do the unthinkable. All he wanted to do was restore what he'd lost and make his tiny world whole again. While his brother Alphonse had misgivings, he pressed on despite the warnings.
It cost them both things they held dear. Trying to revive their dead mother cost Alphonse his body and Edward his leg. He sacrificed an arm to bind his brother's soul to a suit of armor. After that the Rockbells patched him up and he decided to have them put automail on him. He wanted to restore his brother to his rightful body. To this end he became a state alchemist at the age of 12, making him the youngest state alchemist in history.
He turned to the legend of the Philosopher's stone with desperate hope that it would give back what was lost. But the legend was no legend and the price was steep. He uncovered a web of lies, power, and deceit that stretched back hundreds years. In the center of such an ancient game for power against foes human and inhuman, he plowed on. Despite injuries and finding the truth for his brother's sake, he walked forward. But in the end when he got what he wanted he saw things differently.
The power he wanted to make things right, not only cost too much but also would destroy his world if the knowledge of it was allowed to remain. Acknowledging at last his own mistakes and dreams were childish and there were things more important he made a decision. He planned to destroy the stone and all knowledge of it. Down in the depths he went, to confront the woman who with his father had started this chess match for immortality with. He was forced to face truths that would change him forever and even death it’s self.
Coming back from all of that, he still refused to see his brother who had sacrificed himself to bring him back to disappear. But Rose and Wrath refused to allow it, to say nothing of the military group that found them. Thwarted and upset, Edward was confined to military prison for two weeks until Armstrong got him out. Embittered and seeming to have aged, Edward's despair and anger made him a violent person to deal with. He was ashamed and refused to return to his hometown. It was Roy who put things back into perspective, and Gracia who urged him to do something that would make a difference.
For four months, he wandered Central city confined to it until his trial. If he re-enlisted he could redeem himself, and if he turned away from it they would have his secrets and possible his life. He made the decision to re-enlist to aid in the rebuilding of the military, and to seek all knowledge of the philosopher's stone. This time not to use it, but to destroy it. He took back his pocket watch and was reassigned to Mustang's staff. He researched biological alchemy on the side, his promise to prevent the misuse of it still lingering.
For two years he's served under Mustang, being promote to Lieutenant Colonel and recently was urged to take reassignment under Armstrong in Intelligence and Investigations.
