| The Damn Yankees! |
[Sat 30 May @ 11:30pm] |
This year’s selection of ,The Damn Yankees, is spectacular. On the dates of June 3rd-6th, at 6:00 PM, please come support the youth of Ice River as they perform their musical comedy. Ranging from grades 9-12, the cast is superb. So much blood sweat and tears is put into this performance, it would be a shame if you miss it.
Tickets for the show, 7$ for students and 10$ for adults, will be available at the drama office, front foyer at lunch, and at the doors.
In addition, there will be a reception, so bring as much goodies and treats as humanly possible!
Your best bet for accurate information is to contact me; however, if you want to see is Josiah is on his A-game, you can toss some questions in his direction for more information, comment below.
EDIT: Please come to see the set as well, our very own Keegan and Shelly has helped create the environment that we couldn't have captured otherwise.

| Slush Cup anyone? |
[Sat 11 Apr @ 11:55am] |
I don't know if anyone has heard of Slush Cup but it's basically the biggest and best spring party anywhere. Thought we could organize one here. Usually comes around in the first week of May, when the snow is really melting for real. Everyone dresses up like a moron, goes to the ski hill to ski down the slush and a jump is constructed at the bottom which you hit and go flying into a giant pool of icy melting snow. Everyone drinks too much and it's really the most fun you can have once ski season is closed. Anyone?
( This could be you. )

| Women's Hockey Team |
[Fri 10 Apr @ 3:36pm] |
Well I think it's about time Ice River got a female hockey team, and luckily Sam agrees with me, though I don't think it's for entirely supportive reasons.
So I thought I might pose the question, ask if any ladies are interested in forming a team. It can be strictly recreational if you're not a fan of cross town games.
Names have been thrown around, some serious some...not so much. Feel free to suggest something. Red Fox Coyotes Grizzly Bears Man-eating wildcats Man-eating fairy princesses
So if we can get a decent number I think it'd be worth the effort. Let me know if you're at all interested, or have any thoughts on the subject! You know where to reach me.

Puppies Available!
The most adorable lab mix puppies were dropped off yesterday, and they're ready to go to go to a home immediately. It's not very often that we get a litter of puppies in, so if you know anyone looking for a new pal, tell them to drop in and take a look! There are four of them - two males and two females. They're healthy and perfectly friendly.

| Party Information! |
[Tue 10 Feb @ 5:57pm] |
Hello, all! The Valentine's Day Party is a go. The theme? It's kind of anti-Valentine's Day. You'll still feel all the love, though. I promise.
The theme of the party is Superstition. This isn't about religious affiliation or whether or not you're actually superstitious, of course. It's just for fun. You and your date may want to recreate a popular Urban Legend, or perhaps you may want to stick reflective material to your shirt and pretend you're a broken mirror. Or, you know, just dress in black and call yourself a cat. It's all up to you. You may dress up as someone attempting to prevent bad luck as well. Wearing crosses or dream catchers, etc. would certainly do the trick!
I've decided to rent out the community center for our party. Just the meeting space, of course, not the rink. There will be a lowly-lit area to dance and tables will be set up for people to sit and talk to their friends. The tables will be piled with heart-shaped candies. This is just so everyone remembers that it's actually a Valentine's Day party. Additionally, there will be a bar at the party, but you will have to pay for your drinks. I cannot afford to get everyone intoxicated. I'm sorry.
Several donation jars will be put out to support local volunteer organizations. I'll set them up near the bar so people will have to stare at them and feel guilty while they wait for their drinks to be made. It's all about the guilt.
So, the basics:
Event Information:
Host: Elliot McCallum. Theme: Friday the 13th/Superstitions/Oh, and the day of love. Type of Party: Costume Party. Description: Dancing. Drinks. Mingling. Lots of candies.
When and Where:
Where: Ice River Community Center, located on Wolverine Way. When: Friday, February 13th. 8 PM to 1 AM.

| Park Bulletin: The Week of February 6th, 2008 |
[Fri 6 Feb @ 9:50pm] |
[Posted at 7:51 PM MST, by Father Gregory Peckham]
Hello, Ice River!
For those of you who do not know me, I am Father Peckham! I am just utilizing all of this fancy technology to let you all know about the Ice River Family Day Carnival on February 16th in Centennial Heritage Park. It is being organized by St. Mary's Church Association, but you know it is absolutely open to the general public, your religious affiliations aside. We're going to have skating and ice sculptures and all sorts of goodies, so you should come out.
So, to reiterate, it's on Monday, January 16th (for those non-Albertans, 'Family Day' is a provincial holiday) in Centennial Heritage Park, from 9 am until 9 pm, with the bulk of activities in the morning and afternoon. We'll just be doing night skating in the evening with free hot chocolate.
Moving on, here are your 'park updates' from the Park Service:
- The bear is still at large.
- There is an avalanche advisory for Mt. Kinsey. The Parks Canada requires that all hikers, etc. in the vicinity of the mountain are to take extreme caution and register at a Warden Station.
- Your weather for the next week:
Saturday: High of -7°C / Low of -15°C (Variable Cloudiness, 20% chance of precipitation) Sunday: High of -10°C / Low of -12°C (Isolated Flurries in the morning, possibility of snow storm in the evening with up to 6 cm of snow) Monday: High of -5°C / Low of -9°C (Snow, high winds. Up to 5 cm of snow) Tuesday: High of -8°C / Low of -19°C (Sunny) Wednesday: High of -12°C / Low of -15°C (Cloudy periods) Thursday: High of -7°C / Low of -9°C (Overcast) Friday: High of -3°C / Low of -8°C (Clear) Saturday: High of -1°C / Low of -12°C (Flurries in early morning, up to 3 cm, sunny by noon)
