Book Summary: All her life, seventeen-year-old Chessie has had recurring dreams about a little white farmhouse. Quaint? Not quite. The house is the site of the unsolved murders of Villisca, Iowa, where eight people were slaughtered in 1912. With her parents on the verge of divorce, Chessie is stuck spending the summer with her grandparents in Villisca—right across the street from the axe murder house.

She’s soon hearing voices calling out for help and begins unraveling a link between herself and the town’s bloody history. And when she falls for a cute boy harboring a big secret, the pieces fall into place as she at last discovers the truth of Villisca's gruesome past…
Book Review: Wow this book was well worth the pickup.

Not going to lie but after picking up so many upcoming books and being disappointed in them, I was wary when I got ahold of this one.

But the sypnosis of the Villisca Axe Murders, a set of murders in 1912 of a family and a pair of family friends murdered one night after coming home from church. The murders were never solved and there are rumors of the house being haunted not only by the family itself but also by the axe murderer.

In this story, we meet Chessie who is having dreams of the Villisca Axe Murder House. She doesn't understand why nor has she made any mention of it to her family. One day she is sent to stay with her grandparents in Villisca. The thing is her grandparents live right across the street from the murder house. Chessie meets David and Mateo. David is cute and Mateo is a wanna be paranormal investigator. As the Chessie's relationship heats up with David, the three of them try to figure out why exactly Chessie is dreaming of the Villisca Axe Murder house and what her connection to it.

This was a great pick-up and well worth it. It was hard to put down this book and I really enjoyed this story. The characters were interesting and the story kept me wanting to keep turning pages until the very end and I must say the ending was not exactly what I was expected.
