Wow. Holy lose-half-the-players, Batman.

I took a hard fall on the ice and have been laid up with a sprained wrist and elbow, so typing has been/still is a bit of not-fun. But still. I must say that I really do hope that we make it through this--I do love Rezek's little black heart and don't want to stop playing him. :-)

I'd hate to lose the Nekhbet--and it would have to be a near-disaster that took her, as they're supposedly nearly impossible to board in a hostile move--but I agree that consolidating the crews is probably the best idea for continuing any sort of play.

Rezek's loyal to Dalia, so if she did want to try for a hostile takeover, he'd throw in with her, particularly if the plan held any sort of chance for success. I'm not sure I'd want to be in Sohei's boots, honestly. :-) Her wisest choice would probably be to strip them naked and toss them into an empty cargo bay and lock the door securely behind them, and even then, she'd have to watch her back constantly because they'd escape, if they could. But that's not a scenario likely to happen, so we need to work out some sort of "you don't kill me and I won't kill you back" agreement.

Rezek's been accustomed to being the second-in-command for a few years, but he'd step into a pilot's role if needed. He's no Wash, but he can fly. Of course, would Sohei trust him at the controls?

The dynamics of this could be *very* interesting. :-)

I don't envy Sohei's position at all. But let's not forget, she has Sheera who is pretty much a trained killing machine and Jarik, who is a merc and makes money from killing people. Which evens our odds a bit.

My suggestion would be to throw the Alliance in as a common enemy. It won't make them want to stop taking over the ship, but it'll be more interesting to fight the Alliance than each other, at least for a little while.

Please do throw Alliance into the mix. We wouldn't want to be left out of the action now, would we? :p

So just to recap for my own ease of mind: Nekhbet gets attacked by Reavers and is in a situation that brings back nostalgic memories of Out of Gas. Athena and Corvus arrive to help fend the Reavers off in a rare collaboration of forces. Then just when they think they're safe from the Reavers, the Alliance tries to apprehend the two ships so a big battle goes down. After that business is settled, the Nekhbet crew throws in the final twist by overthrowing the good Samaritan. Have I gotten everything straight?

I think that's about right. But I'm not sure we have everybody's okay. I'd dearly love to have the Alliance thrown in the mix because otherwise, the Nekhbet crew will slit throats on the Athena and take over. They're an ugly, godless bunch and they wouldn't hesitate to lash out especially after losing half their crew - and in Rezek's case, his last remaining family (and to be poetic and over-dramatic, his last shred of humanity).

And I still want something to do with Ced.

Eeeh, yeah, depending on what we decide happened to Ollie or if we get a new captain...which I still need to figure out, Sohei being in charge is a very difficult thing for her. Not that she can't handle it, she's just not accustomed to being in a complete leadership position. Dalia's got a lot more presence and experiencce than she does, but she doesn't trust the woman -- respects her and would value her insight into being a Captain, yes, but their moral alignments are in different positions.

Sohei's definitely not going to take her chances on either of them when they first get on board her ship, that's for sure. Buuuut, later on down the line, if she needs an emergency pilot, she might have to make use of Rezek's skills. I think she may even promise to help them get their ship back, if they put in with her crew for at least a little while and agree not to stab her in the back. But that's probably only after they attempt to do a hostile take over, and get narrowly thwarted by her crew of surprisingly resourceful fighters.

And, yes, Alliance is the common enemy, which was the plan from the start, but...I got a little sidetracked somewhere along the line. x.x; Anywho, this certainly brings everyone back together. I'm also not sure what I'm talking about anymore, so I'm going to just...end this comment here.

I was thinking the Nekhbet crew might be (partly) injured in whatever killed King, Bronis and Io. This could make them a bit less likely to stage an immediate takeover. To make it even easier I'd suggest Dalia being injured so she's in no shape to try anything. But a trip to our trusty doctor and a few adrenaline shots later and she'll be ready to help Sohei with her Alliance problem... and try to relieve her of the ship in the process. Yay for attempted airlocking!
