Jack put some springs in his feet, his crooked smile brightening a bit. This tune he could really dig - there was some fun buried beneath all that blah-blah after all.
"Only lonely old codgers let ingrates and two-timers get their dander up," he threw back, letting something like affection slip in between the bite.
As he swung under, back, and up again he thought Okay maybe false alarm. ...Maybe. Jack and the Doctor clasped forearms and hung back kicking, switched grips and turned around. He swung his partner in a tight arc that sent the Doctor tumbling around his shoulders.
"No, the difference is, that purpose of yours is all you see." He spun the Doc out, hop-skipped back, jumped and let the man hoist him. It could have just been the pressure against his ribs giving his voice a soft strain. "You don't let the dance be all that it is."
