Here you will find information on the three types of characters you can claim in this game. Please read the descriptions thoroughly before applying for your character.
HUMANS
This game is set in today's Chicago, Illinois, so humans are exactly that. Everyday people who live ordinary lives. They grow up, they go to school or work, they spend their free time hanging out with friends or hiding away indoors on their computers... they're exactly the same as you and me. They have no idea about angels and vampires, or anything about what happens around them. Until they individually find out about the supernatural, they live completely oblivious and ignorant to it.
Some humans, however, are "special". They will either do something great with their lives (such as charity work, start a career as a doctor or firefighter, or save someone's life somewhere down the road) or change the course of history in some way (like start a war, find the cure for cancer, or invent a new type of weapon). These people God wants to protect, usually for His own gain, and so He appoints angels to protect them from darker creatures that roam the Earth and prey on them.
If you want your human to already know a lot about demon and angel activity, or to be a slayer or hunter of sorts, please clear it with a moderator first.
ANGELS
There are many kinds of angels, but the ones that we focus on in this game are guardian angels. Those who are appointed by God to watch over certain humans on the planet and keep them safe from any kind of evil that might want to harm them. God and the Heavens may be twisted and distant, but most of the guardian angels are attached to the ones they are chosen to protect, and care about them greatly.
As far as angels are concerned, demons (including vampires) are disgusting, vicious creatures who aren't to be trusted and are the scum of all that is living. They loathe each other, and of course that hatred has become something of a war. Good versus evil, if you like.
Of course, this is only the way things should be. Some angels are secretly in league with the demons, some see them as rivals and are competitive with them, and some simply hate them with the very fabric of their being. It really all depends on the angel in question, and their own personal views.
Angels have two forms - their "human" form, which gives them the look of any other person on the planet, and their "angelic" form. Whilst in their human form, they are usually more vulnerable and their powers are often stinted a little. They also bleed like humans do. In their angelic form, they have wings, their overall looks are more "polished" and "perfect", and their powers are at their strongest.
DEMONS
Demons are the opposite of angels, yet are very similar. They serve Hell and hate all that is holy and Heavenly, though of course - like the angels - there are a lot of demons who don't fit into the stereotypical catagory for a creature of darkness. For the most part, they prey on humans and have either a rivalry with or hatred toward angels.
Like angels, demons have two forms - "human" and "demonic". Their human form of course would make them appear as any other person on the planet would - save for, perhaps, slight fangs or oddly coloured eyes. Their demonic form, however, could be anything. Some are more human-looking than others, some have wings, some have fangs and claws, some look more like beasts. It really depends on the demon and its powers, i.e., what kind of demon it is.
VAMPIRES
The vampires in this game are exactly what you would expect, but with a twist.
> Beheading them or staking them through the heart will ash them. > Exposure to fire or the sun will burn them, and eventually kill them. > Exposure to holy items (holy water, crucifixes, etc) will burn them. > However, touching an angel will NOT burn them, though it may feel uncomfortable. > They cannot turn into bats or any other kind of animal. > They don't need to sleep, though some choose to. > They don't need to eat human food, though some choose to. > Their skin is cold to the touch, their hearts don't beat, and they don't need to breathe. > They need to drink human blood to survive. > They lose any powers they had as an angel. > They have heightened senses (especially smell and hearing). > They are far less powerful than regular demons, because they are "tainted angels" or "wrecked angels". > Contrary to popular belief, vampires cannot turn humans into vampires.
A vampire is a fallen angel. They are created when a guardian angel (who is chosen to protect and watch over a certain human being) makes a huge mistake, endangers that person's life, or gives into human temptations. They have their wings torn off and are cast away from Heaven at God's discretion. They are forced down onto Earth, where Hell wastes no time in claiming them. Because of their previous devotion to the human race, Hell changes them into something that hunts and preys on the people they once protected and loved.
After they have been claimed by Hell, they lose any powers they once had as an angel. Also, the link between them and the human they once protected is still extremely strong. Nine times out of ten, the new vampire will feel a strong urge to hunt, stalk or prey upon that human because of the bond God instilled between them - once positive, now turned negative.
