dunhaven; ooc community

I'm here and active (obviously/obnoxiously, ha), but I have two characters that I'm struggling with. I don't feel like a hiatus is appropriate since I'm active with everyone else on my roster, but these two feel... adrift, I suppose, without their partners active in game.

I know I can just post something random for either of them, but I figured I'd at least try this, here, first. To see if I can drum up some plot outside of their relationships.

Hello Dunhaven! This is Jach. Please say hello to my newest addition to the town. This is Violet Shepherd, who moonlights as Yennefer from The Witcher series on Netflix.

Violet is 21 and a Dunhaven native. The Shepherd women are pretty well known throughout town. Violet's grandmother, aunts, and cousins work out of a blue house at 106 Raven Way that deals in various fortune telling, from Tarot to tea leaves and more. Most of them have natural abilities and their clientele is loyal to them. Of course not everyone likes or believes in them, so they've had their fair share of negativity thrown their way throughout the years.

Whatever you think of them, Violet doesn't much care. She faced a fair bit of bullying in school before she learned to put up some personal defenses. Once high school hit, she really embraced the "Witch" label the town had put on her. She dresses in black, with dramatic makeup and long dark nails. She's got a hefty amount of sass and attitude and is very guarded.

In addition to giving tarot readings and brewing "tonics" for customers at Ravens Way, Violet also has a second job bartending at the Pourhouse. She's only worked there for about 2 months, but she's been working her ass off to be as good as possible at her job. She's starting to become known for knowing what drink you want before you even order.

As she's pretty closed off, she likely doesn't have many close friends (beyond her BFF/Cousin Jane), but she's open to casual/friendly acquaintances for now with the possibility of becoming closer.

She's been dreaming of Yenn for about a year, but isn't open about it and hasn't mentioned it to anyone outside of her immediately family members.




As an unrelated side note: Mari Rodriquez (sleuthy) has had a PB switch. She's now Jeanine Mason.

It's time for a Activity Check!

As previously mentioned, you only need half of your activity for the month of May. For example, if you have 10 characters, you only need to have activity for 5 of them. Activity counts as as a network post, comment thread with no minimum amount of comments, complete or in progress log or narrative per character with no minimum word or paragraph count, and so on. That's it!

As a note, we will be returning to our regularly scheduled activity requirements in June. As we've said before, however, it is really important to us that this game continues to be a source of fun and not stress. If you ever find yourself unable to meet requirements for any reason, please just let us know. You don't have to get into what's going on if you're uncomfortable with it; we just want this to be an easy-going atmosphere and a place to turn to when you want to stretch your creative legs.

Hello friends!

Just as an FYI, Rowena has had a bit of a change and makeover. Her previous canon wasn't clicking in place as I'd liked, same with her PB swap, so I did some think and I believe that I found one that's going to work really well for her. Everything about her life in Dunhaven will remain the same, except that she's going to be dreaming about Thalia Grace from Riordanverse (and she also looks like Jessica Stroup now). She has been dreaming and has an idea that there are people dreaming about people she knows from said dreams, but she's basically only seen until she was pine tree'd so she's kept her distance thus far. That will change soon enough!

Hi friends! Jach here with a new character. It only took me like three months to finally finish his profile.

Say hi to Dion Gardner, soon to be brand new arrival to Dunhaven. Dion was born in Chicago and raised on a farm. He's the youngest of three boys and his extremely grounded and laid back. He's quite funny and charming in his own way and tends to make friends easily.

Or not so easily in some cases. While attending college in Wisconsin, Dion met Cassia Holt and was intrigued by her. After multiple ignored/rebuffed friendship attempts, he finally won her over. It took them awhile, but eventually they became very close.

There was quite a bit of back and forth and bad timing that kept the two of them from ever becoming more than friends, but they are still extremely close and have kept in touch since her move back to town.

Dion has been dealing with his dreams for awhile now and is half convinced that he's lost his mind. However, a few recent comments from Cassia started him wondering if maybe he's not the only one dealing with this kind of thing.

He will be arriving in Dunhaven on Cassia's birthday as a surprise. Both to see her, and to find out for sure if what he thinks is happening might actually be the truth. Once he gets let in on the town secret, he'll be deciding to stay.

Once he does, then there's the matter of his currently unknown half-sister, who also happens to be living in Dunhaven.


His alter-ego is Peeta Mellark from the Hunger Games, so HOLLA to other Hunger Games dreamers. Hopefully he'll be able to make some new friends once he's settled in. He's very outdoorsy, will be working with the VA department of Agriculture, loves baking and being creative, and is just all around a nice person.

Also- is there a community garden in Dunhaven? If not, he's definitely going to be starting one.

We're here with the events for May, but we also wanted to give a head's up regarding activity. As you all know, we did waive activity requirements for March and April given the state of the world at large. We have decided that we will be counting activity again starting in May. However, since we know that things are still in flux, activity is only required for half your cast; for example, if you play 10 characters, you only have to have activity for 5 of them at the end of the month.

That being said, it is important to us that this game continues to be an easy-going environment that you can come to for release and fun, but we also understand that it can be difficult for some to be creative in times like this as everyone responds differently. When we created this sandbox, we wanted it to be a no pressure atmosphere and that's just as true now as it was then. So if you find yourself unable to meet requirements, please try not to stress -- just let us know. We love you all and want you to be taking care of you first. If there is anything we can do to help, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Also, please note in the calendar that we have included a plot for the entire month. It is entirely optional, but we are hoping that it will help people ease back into the memories and the flow of the game. 💗

Hello everyone!

For those unaware, I've been on hiatus for the last week or so due to some various things going on in my life; long story short, I've been feeling very stretched in the old mental health area because of some personal stuff and I just needed to take an official hiatus because my inability to be creative was becoming another source of mental strain/stress and I needed space to reset. I'm officially back from hiatus as of today and I feel better in general, but I just wanted to give everyone a head's up that I'm still kind of easing back into things. I know that there are things that I missed and I will go back and look at everything, but I'm trying not to overwhelm my brain. :)

That being said, if you would like to do anything specific with any of my characters, please let me know.

Hi guys!

I know I'm not alone in the fact that RL is really bringing me down and making it hard for me to focus. I pull up the friends page when I get home from work, realize I can't put words together, and then go play Animal Crossing, or with my dog, instead. BUT I also really want the distraction of writing, even if just comment threading.

So I thought I might try making a list of things I'd like to post or accomplish for each of my characters so that when I can't brain enough to decide what to do, I can just pick something off the list. I'm hoping it will help me focus a lot better than I've been able to recently. ♥️

Is there anything you guys want from any of my characters that I could add to the list?

HI! Following Jamie's lead, have an intro~

This is Aurora Demerson, aka Persephone from Lore Olympus. She's been in Dunhaven for about two years now attending University of Dunhaven and working at Flower Girls where she's acquired a reputation for making absurdly phenomenal flower arrangements. She's very nice, tries to befriend just about anyone, and is a shade naive thanks to a childhood of being sheltered by an overprotective mother who went so far as to hire teachers to homeschool her. She doesn't talk about it much, but her mother is the founder and CEO of Demerson Foods (think Tyson Foods), so she's technically an heiress. You'd never know it just by talking to her, though. She's exceedingly humble and kind and wants nothing more than to make her own way in this world outside of her mother's overbearing shadow.

Her bio has come content warnings on it, but if you've read Lore Olympus, she almost entirely parallels her canon counterpart.

HER BEST FRIENDS ARE ALEXIS PARSONS AND VIKRAM PATEL. She's open for more friends, though! Or anything, really. HMU. ♥
