WHO: Cloud Strife + Anyone!
WHAT: Cloud is feeling low the morning after the mountain.
WHERE: Lobby, but closer to the library.
WHEN: Backdated to the morning of Saturday, October 11.
WARNINGS: Infuriating emo feels, idk, tbd.
So it's true. I can't save anyone.
Cloud's first thoughts when he rose from the bed. That he should be there at all was, he thought, in itself a miracle. He didn't know what was going on in his head the last night, chasing childhood enemies like a headless chicken but at that time, it seemed right. These were harmless people, and the town itself was harmless. Just folks milling about, a more boring version of Balamb but what was new? They were experts at boring. These people just decided there was better living to be made up there. Red said so herself. Cloud just needed to try and talk to them because that was what he promised.
When the fog cleared, Cloud couldn't remember what convinced him it was safe. Gray faces, shuffling steps, a dark cloud everywhere. Balamb was always bright and blue, except during a storm and even then, when it passed, you could still run, still stroll. It was obvious then that something was wrong. And Cloud couldn't save those people from it, even when he promised.
After he took a hot shower, he put on some toasts, ate two then left his dorm with his laptop in hand. It was the weekend and Kadowaki had advised them to take a break and lay low but Cloud couldn't. He didn't earn all that and there had to be work to be done to get these people down. Until that happened, Cloud couldn't imagine just relaxing in bed. No rest for the wicked, so they say. If that applied to his situation at all.
Down the lift, onto the lobby, crossing the path that led to the library. Cloud always made his reports there. And since talking wasn't allowed there, that only made things better for him. He wouldn't have to be forced to make excuses about last night if he didn't want to.
