The Drapery & Snarco Fest Frequently Asked Questions and Fest Rules
1. What is the Drapery & Snarco Fest?
Drapery = Draco+Snape+Harry, Snarco = Snape+Harry+Draco. In other words, a combination of the three characters. This community and this fest celebrate the sensual world of Drapery and the snarky world of Snarco! No matter what your take on the combination of Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, and Severus Snape, fluff or angst, hotness or hotheadedness, this community celebrates the erotic and relationship possibilities of all three together.
The community has mirror comms on both LiveJournal and InsaneJournal. We will be posting in both places. The fest will contain fic and art—a total fandom celebration of The Ultimate Threesome.
2. Sounds neat! How do I get started?
Here's the fest timetable: November 2nd, 2008 - November 27th, 2008 (US Thanksgiving): Prompt Collection December 1st, 2008 - December 15th, 2008: Prompt Claiming February 15th, 2009: Submissions Due March 1st - March 31st, 2009: Fest Posting
Between now and the US holiday Thanksgiving (Nov. 27th), anyone can submit prompts for claiming! Submit your prompt by commenting to the PROMPT COLLECTION post. Anyone can submit prompts, including writers, artists, lurkers, watchers, et cetera.
Prompts may consist of plot summaries, word associations, kinks, quoted poetry or song lyrics, or anything else you can think of. Not all prompts will be claimed in the fest.
Those who want to participate as writers or artists, we will begin the claiming of the prompts on December 1st. We will be taking a limit of 31 writers and 31 artists. That's a month earlier than we original anticipated, but we wanted to give everyone two full months to write/create before the deadline.
One word about the deadline. If you are having any problems fulfilling your claim after you've made it, please contact the mods! We understand real life can interfere with our intentions to create. But knowing as early as possible if someone must drop out will help us to have an orderly and low-stress fest. Please communicate early and often about any problems.
3. Is this an exchange? Will posts be anonymous?
Right now we have no plans to make an exchange fest, nor anonymous postings with guesses as to who wrote what. (Future rounds of the fest could always change.) The mods will be posting the pieces, but author and artist names will be included. We hope you will pimp the comm and your contribution to your friends!
4. What are the STORY REQUIREMENTS?
Stories must be:
at least 1000 words in length
Rated R or NC-17
must be beta-read before submission
not posted anywhere else until the conclusion of the fest
have all HTML tags included for italic, bold, etc.
We're very serious about the beta requirement. The mods are not your beta readers. Please take some pride in your work and at least get the spelling errors and punctuation fixed up before you submit, all right? We reserve the right to reject any story that does not meet community standards. Please don't make us have to.
All fic submissions should include the following header:
Title: Author: Pairing: Snape/Draco/Harry, but list any other relevant secondary pairings Length: Word count (All pieces must be at least 1000 words long. There is no limit. If you want to write a novel, go ahead!) Rating: (Must be R or NC-17) Disclaimer: Warnings: (i.e. Chan, Incest, Bestiality, Non-con, character death, etc...) Prompt: please repeat what your prompt was Summary: If needed after the prompt. No need to give away the whole plot, just enough to give readers an idea of what the story is about. Author Notes: You might want to thank your beta-readers here, and put any other insights into your story.

5. What are the ART REQUIREMENTS?
Art must be:
a minimum of one hour's work
Rated R or NC-17
submitted as a JPG or PNG, scanned to reasonable resolution
not posted anywhere else until the conclusion of the fest
Submit art with the following header:
b>Title:</b> Artist: Pairing: Snape/Draco/Harry, but list any other relevant secondary pairings Medium: Rating: (Must be R or NC-17) Disclaimer: Warnings: (i.e. Chan, Incest, Bestiality, Non-con, character death, etc...) Prompt: please repeat what your prompt was Artist Notes:
All art will be hosted in a special server for the fest to avoid Livejournal TOS weirdness and the problems we've had with people losing access to their scrapbooks, etc. All art submitted for the fest is assumed to come with permission from the artist that it is OK for us to archive and host the art indefinitely on our own server.
Submit by email to drapery.mods at gmail dot com.
6. Is there an age requirement for this community?
You must be 18 years of age to participate in this fest. No exceptions.
As for readers/watchers/lurkers, since LJ now has its own age verification requirements, the burden is on the reader to be truthful. The Authors, Artists, and Community Maintainers are not responsible for underage readers. The community is set to "Adult" and many submissions will contain explicit gay sex and nudity.
7. What happens when each round of the Fest is over?
We will compile a master list of fics and art and hand out congratulations. The master list will be posted and pimped at places like hogwarts_today and daily_snitch. Once the fest ends, individual participants can re-post their contributions in their own journals if they like, BUT NOT BEFORE.
8. But why does everything have to be R or NC-17? Can I write gen?
Sorry, gen is for some other fest. We know what we like, and the whole point of this fest is to encourage there to be more of it. And that's more hot combinations of our three favorite characters.
9. Wait, but does that mean everything will be PWP? Or have happy endings?
Of course not! Please be as plotty as you like. Angst and fluff are both welcome. How the three of them get together is up to you, as is whether they stay together. Love triangles and grudgefucks can be in the fest as well as three-way wizarding marriages and incredible one-night stands...
10. You still didn't answer my question, and/or you've got a huge error in the FAQ here!
