Astoria couldn't wait for lunch. While it had been a relatively calm day, she didn't really want to deal with the rest of her coworkers and their gossip. The head of the department was away in Belgium for a meeting with an ambassador and the rest of the department took it as an opportunity to slack off and mingle. Although Astoria would have normally played along, she wasn't feeling too social today. When the time came, she got up quickly her seat and swiftly made her way to the lifts. She knew she was being rude, she just didn't care.

Astoria thought about what she wanted to eat as she exited the lift. She could go for something simple, a sandwich perhaps and bring it back to the office. Or she could people watch -- that is always amusing, she thought with a smirk. And Astoria loved to be amused in anyway. Her brisk steps came to a halt in front of the cafe as she folded her arms. She felt unusually indecisive today and was trying to decide whether to even eat there or not when she heard a voice coming from behind her. Astoria turned on her heel to glare at the man. She didn't particularly care that she was being rude by blocking the doorway, instead she was irrationally annoyed that anyone dared to address her in her current mood.

Her anger didn't phase Draco much. Instead the smirk curled his lips. "And here I thought you would come down to see if I was here," he said, amusement in his silky drawl. "Why don't we get a table? From the looks of it, you need to be out of that stuffy place for awhile." He didn't ask if she was staying or going, lunch sounded like a good idea to him.

Draco, for his part, had a busy morning. He was putting the finishing touches of his cost analysis for a new arts center. That was the project he favored. There was also another one about muggle integration and education. It took a bit of inflating in the loss column, but it really was a poor idea. He dropped both files off to the legal department to make sure that the business laws were being followed. Then they would both go back to the origination points which would bring them unavoidably back to his office. He needed the free hour.

"Would you like to take a seat?" he asked, stepping ahead of her and holding the chair out.

It was annoyance more than anger, although she tried to stamp it down as she offered him a small smile. She hadn't meant to be rude to him. A bigger smile graced Astoria's features as she jokingly replied, "Oh, don't you know? I've been waiting for you all day." He had actually caught her off guard; she'd been expecting an annoying coworker to be standing behind her, but it was a pleasant surprise. Astoria also hadn't expected an invitation to lunch but nodded at his suggestion, figuring it'd be nice to have good company for a change.

She admired anyone who could deal with numbers and finances. Neither were really her forte. Astoria preferred dealing with people, although she hardly cared for them. But she found it easy to at least pretend and that was a useful skill in her career. Sometimes, like today, she let her facade slip, but she didn't think it really mattered when her boss wasn't even around.

"Thank you," she said as she took the seat Draco offered. Astoria wasn't really surprised that he was a gentleman, it was part of their upbringing, after all. But she still found it charming. She waited until he himself was seated before she spoke again. "How are you?"

Hearing her say that she had been waiting for him brought a smirk although he knew there was some sarcasm in it. She obviously wasn't opposed to his company, and it wasn't as it he wasn't sarcastic. He had quite a caustic tongue in school although it had tempered some. He could still be very blunt, and if it didn't matter, he didn't bother the finesse with people. When it did matter, he was very charming.

He sat opposite her and offered her a menu first. "I have the start of a headache. The muggle integration program is bloody ridiculous as always." He looked up from the menu he was scanning and grinned. "I might have inflated a few numbers a bit more than they should be." He looked quite proud of his achievement in a humorous way. "Have you dumped coffee on your boss yet, and more importantly, what would you like to eat?"

She liked humor and sarcasm quite a bit and usually didn't mean offense by it. Unless you were an idiot. And she certainly wasn't opposed to his company, instead she was a little flattered that he would want hers, even if it was just lunch.

Astoria took the menu and scanned it while he spoke. "I'm sure you'll be glad when that's finished," she responded as she looked up, catching his grin. She laughed at his next statement and the expression that accompanied it. "A Slytherin through and through. Did you do it simply for amusement?"

She smirked at the question and ruefully shook her head. "I took a less violent approach. Simply told him it wasn't my job and handed it off to some new girl. She wasn't very pleased." And neither was her boss. He had glared and grunted and then eventually relented. "Then I slipped him some of Weasley's special biscuits." It was a bit immature of her, but she didn't care. It still made her laugh.

"I think I'll go with the lemon chicken flatbread and tomato soup." Yes, she was hungry.

Draco motioned for the waiter and placed her order followed by a chicken fettuccine for himself. He tended to favor pastas and rice, as opposed to sandwiches. He sent the waitress off and his eyes returned to his lunch date. "I don't really do it for amusement, although it does provide that. It's a bad idea. If we educate the muggles, then they will accept us as a part of society much easier. It is such shite really."

He smirked when she mentioned what she had done even if it was a Weasley product. He didn't care for that family but those products did have many uses. "Were those the biscuits that will confine him to the loo for a few hours after consumption?" He really didn't care either. He needed something else to take his attention off work. "So what do you like to do other than tormenting the man who pays you?"

"I don't think integration will ever be a good idea. Nothing will make it easier for either side," she said. She knew some Ministry workers were quite sensitive about the topic. But this was her truth and there was no point in denying it.

She laughed at the next question. Astoria truly believed George Weasley was brilliant. She had no qualms about using his products. "Yeah, those are the ones."

What did she like to do? Drink, date, shop. Astoria smiled at the way he phrased the question and answered, "The typical girl things -- nothing you'd find interesting I bet. Though I like to draw sometimes. Usually I just run off to the countryside, much to Mother's chagrin." Her family had a home in Norfolk and she was the only one that used it.

"But I want to hear about you. So talk." She was curious.

Draco arched a brow. The Weasleys disgusted him for the most part with the exception of the twins, not that he would admit to that. They were funny though, good beaters too, just from the wrong family. "It might take a few doses to make the boss learn his lesson. You could always ask for a transfer and come be my little slave instead?" That was definitely a more interesting prospect than the witch that served the finance department currently.

"What do you want to know?" he asked, not used to people asking many questions. He was normally tight lipped anyway. "I'll tell you what, you ask me and I will answer." He couldn't say he wasn't interested.

A faint blush colored Astoria's face, but she smiled slightly at the less than innocent thoughts his words conjured. "That depends on how much torture you're planning to put me through. And how much coffee I'll be having to get for you." At least he would be a pleasing boss to look at, unlike her current one.

Astoria cocked her head and studied him before straightening back up. She usually didn't bother asking about people, but she definitely understood that he would be a good contact to have. And she was interested anyway, so why not? She didn't appreciate having to work for the information, but she thought it would be worth it. "Okay." She wanted to asked if he was still with Parkinson but refrained. She would probably look like a gossip anyway. "Let's start off simple. What do you like to do?" Astoria couldn't think of anything else that wasn't too personal or off-limits.
