What: Ginny's birthday.

Harry was excited. It was Ginny's birthday and he'd been working really hard on it all. He'd made a banner with her name on it and hung it up. And he'd baked a cake, which he was particularly fond of. It was the first thing he'd ever baked.

Glancing down at his watch, Harry lit the candles quickly and poured some champagne for the both of them, hoping that she was feeling better tonight. Grabbing the roses, he walked towards the door and waited.

Even though it was her birthday, that certainly didn't mean training today had gone any easier.. not that Ginny had expected it to. She'd long outgrown the phase where she thought having a birthday meant you got special treatment. She let herself into the house, fully expecting to be greeted with the silence and darkness that meant Harry wasn't home yet. But yet again, she was surprised by the fact that he was actually home. So surprised, she almost ran straight into him when she came in.

"What are you.." she started, and then stopped when she saw the flowers he was holding. A small grin spread across her face. "Are those for me?"

In all honesty, Harry should have been at work. But, as they were only using him as nothing more than a paper pusher at that particular moment, he'd decided to come home and spend some time with the woman he loved. Especially since she had been so sick.

Harry grinned as she nearly bumped into him and held the flowers out to her. "Of course they are. Happy birthday, Ginny."

Ginny's grin widened as she took the flowers from Harry, leaning forward to kiss him. "Thank you," she said, moving away again to stow her things in the closet.

"Have you been home long?" Ginny asked, scooting past Harry to go into the kitchen and find a vase for the roses. She stopped short at the sight of the kitchen, with the banner and the dilapidated cake sitting on the table, trying not to laugh at his absolutely adorable attempt at baking.

	"A few hours. I had to get everything ready. And!" Harry moved towards the cake and scooped it up with a beam on his lips. "I baked for the first time in my entire life. What do you think?" He looked at her expectantly. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Ginny could see very plainly that Harry was proud of the lumpy cake in his hands, so she couldn't bring herself to tell him the honest truth. It was sweet that he'd tried to bake a cake, no matter how it ended up. "It's lovely," she told him smoothly, grin still firmly in place. "You really didn't have to do all this, though. I don't need a big fuss made over me."

	"It's only a birthday. Just because we're married now doesn't mean it's any more special than your birthday was." Ginny shook her head and wrapped her arms around Harry's shoulders, giving him a slightly devious look as she remembered the reaction he'd given at her present to him two weeks ago. The idea of presents had Ginny feeling slightly excited. Because even if she insisted on not having people fuss over her, she still loved presents. What sort of person didn't? So she did as she was told, unwrapping herself from around Harry and leaning over the cake on the counter. She closed her eyes for a moment, made her wish and then blew out the candles in one try.

"No boyfriends," she said, winking at Harry before sliding her arms back around his waist, tipping her head up to kiss his cheek.

Ginny moved back slightly, sitting on the kitchen table as she took the box from Harry. She unwrapped it to find a soft, flowy white night gown, much nicer (and sexier, she had to admit) than the collection of old tshirts she usually wore to bed. Her eyebrows raised a little and she smirked at Harry. "Is this a hint, or more of a present for you?" she asked, teasing, because it really was lovely.
