Re: Near the edge of the roof
Officer Blubberbuss' associate didn't have any gum to snap, but he'd snagged a toothpick out of someone's empty martini glass and stuck it in the corner of his mouth at a jaunty angle. He also wore a pair of aviators to contrast with his expensive blue suit and bowtie ensemble, and he had a chain of pink glowsticks looped around his chest and over one shoulder like a bandolier. He approached Meredith with his hands in his pockets, a few steps behind his compadre and a cocky smirk firmly in place.
"Ma'am, I'm afraid we're gonna to have to interrupt your gallivantin' and insist that we see some ID," he drawled in an exaggerated backwoods Southern accent, reaching into the inside breast pocket of his suit and pulling out his 'badge'. He flashed it in her face long enough to reveal that it was indeed something that resembled a badge, but too fast to register that it was a plastic 'Sheriff' badge he'd grabbed in the dollar store on the way to the party. "There are some less-than-savoury characters around these here parts that have been causin' trouble, and we're just keepin' tabs on all you partygoers - for your own safety, o'course."
