Dexter had been pleasantly surprised to find himself some place else upon stepping through the door a few days ago. He was himself, fortunately, pleased that some of the disturbances that had been happening to some of the others on the journals hadn´t happened to him yet. Or maybe that only applied to those who had gone through to the other side. In his case, the Chinese man whom he´d shared a brain with would find himself in such a strange place, such a strange life. It would be interesting to see how he could survive and what became of him.
However, for now, Dexter had work to do. A new city meant new crimes and new criminals to hunt. Las Vegas was full of them, almost as bad as Miami, if not worse. He just had to hunt and strike at the opportune moment. He was doing this mostly out of habit, now. He found himself in a strange city, in a strange place without really a place to call his home for now. He´d tracked down where the kid was crashing easily enough, remembering the descriptions that the boy had in his mind. He´d broken in fairly easily and wasn´t too worried about the kid´s sisters finding him. That wasn´t his business, anyway, and he only felt a tiny bit of guilt taking the kid´s money to buy himself some proper hunting tools here. His knives hadn´t come with him, nor any of the other material that he needed on a hunt. Plastic. His criminal equipment from the lab. Everything that made his job easier. He could still get it done without getting caught, of course. Of that, Dexter had no doubt. He just had to improvize.
He left the kid´s apartment, locking the door for what good it would be worth. Luckily they were close in size. There hadn´t been a need to do clothing shopping, save for an apron to keep any blood off himself. The last thing he´d want, after all, is for some strange police to be searching after him like he was a petty criminal. The fools had no idea who they´d be looking after, at any rate, and Dexter would make sure of that.
Using darkness as his cover, he slipped out into the streets of Las Vegas, his eyes alert and moving constantly as he observed the casual citizens of the city of sin. It was going to become his playground, a place where he could do whatever he liked. Something was missing, but Dexter couldn´t quite put his finger on it. He wore casual jeans and a typical long-sleeve brown shirt, moving naturally and comfortably through the crowds on the strip. He would find a victim to stalk, someone to take out with his code. Of that, he had no doubt.
