Cat Fight
Who: Bounder Winter / LOTR-universe What: Large mountain cats on the Shire borders Where: The Shire When: Midnight.
So far he had been lucky and they had come at him one at a time and not as a full pride.
Chay picked his head up when he heard another voice shout and subsequent crying of another lion, but he couldn't do anything at the moment with the cat continuing it's own stalking attack on him. Still it was encouraging that perhaps he wouldn't be alone in trying to fend off the pride by himself anymore. He was getting good at this sort of thing and knew where to shove the pitchfork after the initial lunge from the cat. The lion gave a growl and swung a last attempted lethal paw that didn't connect this time, nor did the battle last for long before the heart once again was skewered through the ribcage and sprayed drops of blood about the area as the cat attempted to shake off the pitchfork and Chay pushed it in deeper. He didn't stop the pressure until the cat finally quit moving.
Would this night never end?
Was it the second time this night that they had come to raid the barn? Hunger must have been driving them. Hunger and normally easy pickings. His thought went back to the shout that he heard and even now he heard the continued rabid growling of one of the cats near at hand but not hovering about the entrance to the stable. If he was lucky it would be someone with experience who would help fight them off. He shook the sweat out of his hair and gave a sarcastic laugh. After their disagreement the night before about who was in charge, it was somewhat ironic that he had hoped it was Robin. At least he knew his way around the end of a hoe.
Wakȟáŋ Tȟáŋka! he did not want that kind of responsibility.
Pulling the pitchfork from the body of the cat he edged around the side of the stable to get his bearings. The hungry cats were trying to find the easiest way in. It was a large stable and he would have to make towards one of the side doors into the barn proper.. That's where the other person had to be. And with two of them, they may be able to hold down the fort at the main entrance. At least, he hadn't heard the scream of a pony or cattle yet, even though the animals were far from calm at the smell of the large cats.
