Jamie Madrox had been to Las Vegas a couple of times, just to get out of New York, have fun, play the tables with the dupes. What he hadn't planned on was sharing the life of his head mate, or perhaps it was living the life of his head mate. Caellum was a good kid, a little wild, but had potential. Jamie, as much as he had teased and pushed him, actually appreciated the energy. He had a wanderers spirit, and had seemed to settle in with another of the same type. It had a positive influence on Caellum, who had always been content to do whatever he pleased, with no direction at all.
When he found himself outside of his door in Las Vegas, it wasn't hard for him to find his way back to Caellum's little studio. Caellum hadn't been there in a few weeks, staying at Chetan's RV instead. He didn't have much to leave behind, and what was still here was of no interest to Madrox. Checking the journal, he found that there were others, including Chetan's own head mate. Since he had already planned to go to the RV, he could pick up the odd fellow who spoke of breeks, and wheeled houses. He had been a little surprised to find that he was a hobbit, the one from Lord of the Rings. He had laughed about that, more than he had laughed in some time, but then his own nature settled in. He needed to help Frodo find his way, a reversal from the way Chetan had taken to Caellum.
He put on Cael's leather jacket, which was in fairly good shape, and headed back out to the bus. He had found a few dollars in the studio, but not much. It would be enough to get them to the desert. He got off the bus near passages and found the truck that he had seen, looking through Caellum's eyes. Inside, he could see a head, or rather, two of them. Two hobbits. Alright then, he thought, coming around to the driver side. He opened the door. "Your driver has arrived." He jumped in the cab, taking in the men beside him. They weren't as short as he had expected, but the clothes had to be corrected. He was trying not to laugh. "I'm Jamie Madrox. I don't suppose you have heard of the X-Men?"
