The few other times Babs had been through the door, she'd ended up in a version of her own space, computers rigged just the way she liked them and familiar even if certain things weren't quite the same. But with what she had seen of Steph's interactions with the Riddler, and the talk about her quitting, Babs had slipped through to the Batcave. She accessed the computer, made herself familiar with the new (to her) set up within a few minutes, and then worked her way into Steph's computer to talk.
As they messaged back and forth, she could feel herself getting more worked up than the discussion warranted, a creeping feeling at first that resulted in her heart racing and her breathing coming quicker. The faster her breath, the more agitated she became. Something itched at the back of her mind, something logical and concerned, something that spoke of knowing where this was coming from, but it was drowned out by her increasing fear and hysteria. She needed to get out. Away.
The impetus was suddenly overwhelming, causing her to break off the thought she was just typing to Stephanie, and turning her chair to head for where she knew there had to be an exit. Out out out. She had to leave. To get away. The more the thought pushed at her mind, the faster she moved, her wheels bumping along uneven floor until, at a high speed, a rut caught one wheel and tipped her chair. Moving too fast to catch herself, still overwhelmed by the need to escape, she fell to the floor, hitting her head on a nearby desk as she fell. Her tablet tumbled along with her until it cracked between the hard stone floor and her chair, cutting off the video and her open communications. The blow to her head made the cave darken, the hysteria still creeping along the edges of her swiftly fading awareness. As the bats rustled above her, the darkness took her.
