Rolling Stone at the end of October features a short quarter-page:
South Portal's lead to appear in exclusive Vegas venueDie-hard South Portal fans are offering kidneys and first-born children for one of only fifty tickets to see Billy K. in a brief acoustic session coming next month. The platinum band's lead singer was almost killed in a hit-and-run accident almost two years ago, and he has since defied the medical profession with his unprecedented recovery from severe spinal injuries. Aside from a few blurry paparazzi shots, Billy K. has not been on the scene since his accident, and the announcement comes at a surprising time.
Fans are not exactly surprised to see Billy K. return to the scene alone, as rumors abound about the remaining members of South Portal continuing studio work in his absence even though publicity has said otherwise. The singer-songwriter hasn't released so much as a single in advance of the performance, and despite repeated contacts, statements about rest and recovery have remained constant.
The session tickets are priced at $500 but are being sold and re-sold for ten times as much. Procedes are to benefit The National Spinal Cord Injury Association.]
