since i've heard that there's been stuff going down in ~anonlulz lately, i thought i'd provide a few common sense tips to help you guys avoid getting your entries posted or whatever. i had an experience with this back in april '07 on gj, so i figured it wouldn't hurt to share some advice.
• first, if you're scared your entries will be posted, or they have been and you think they might again, then just use custom filters. put every friend in their own filter, write the same entry with one reoccurring difference (like a number change, or misspelled word, or just something that makes every entry different in a tiny way) and that way if it gets posted you'll know exactly, without a doubt, who posted it. because that post was only filtered for their eyes. that's the only legitimate way to prove somebody posted your entry, because without evidence it's all hearsay.
• secondly, never give your pw out. if you have in the past, change it. and change your email password. and don't make your secret question answer something so obvious that it can be guessed. and keep in mind if you got your username in a trade that there WILL be other emails that have access to YOUR pw and journal unless you rename it. if you want to see what other emails are attached to your account then check here. and also if you want to see what login sessions you have (as in what ip addresses have accessed your journal) you can go here.
• and lastly, reiterating the username issue. if you got other usernames in trades and you change the pws don't make it the same pw as your email or current journal. anyone who used to own that username will have access to your pw and there's nothing you can do about that unless you rename every username you've ever gotten in a trade to make your email the only one attached to the account.
this is the internet guys. nothing is really safe here. if you post pictures, post secrets, post anything, it has a chance of coming back to haunt you in the future. don't post anything you're going to regret. that's all i have to say, i hope these tips help you guys secure your accounts. much ♥.
