OOC/IC - there's a difference! • Just like everywhere else, we ask that you please, please do your best to keep OOC and IC lines completely separate. This doesn't just mean not mixing your personal feelings with your characters, but because it is a multifandom community, you must keep your knowledge of someone else's character complete separate from what your character would know about them. Just because you might have information stored in your brain about a particular fandom or from having read other peoples logs and threads does not mean your character will know. Unless you are apart of a thread, learn about it through some sort of in character exchange, or your character somehow is bestowed psychic powers, they will not know everything there is to know about someone else's storyline. Please keep it that way. Journals? What is this? Each character upon arrival will receive a plain, leather-bound journal to write in. These journals will never run out of pages, but will never grow, and they will somehow manage to fit into even the smallest of bags. They pick up voices and dictate what's going on around them for those that are not capable of writing or reading. Each journal is linked together by some sort of mysterious connection and anything dictated or written into them will show up in every other journal. It's a strange contraption but very handy for communication. All journal entries will go into the main community, dissolutus, with your characters name (written Western style, first name, last name) on each entry. Any third person entries will be posted in dissolutuslogs. How long do I have to update my character once I'm a member of the community? • When a character is accepted, they will have one week to update with an introduction post. If they contact the mod and things have been particularly hard or surprising events have come up since you applied the character, we will extend this by another week, but after that, we will assume you have lost interest or not enough time to devote to the community and will remove your character so the role will be open for someone else. And how often do I have to update after that? • The update limit for characters will be twice a month. If you aren't very fond of logs or don't have enough character interaction, you can make up for it by having several action threads or commenting frequently on journals around the community. This isn't a very strict policy, so we hope that people will be updating more frequently - but it is the bare minimum that we will want from our members. NOTE: if we see you update everything in the beginning of the month and are dead for the rest of it on a frequent basis, you will be contact by a mod and possibly removed for inactivity as well. No one likes to see someone just sitting on a character. We expect you to want to play as often as you can if you are a member of this community. What if I can't make the update limits for a month? Will I be removed? • Any hiatus must be cleared with the mods before being taken. You may submit a hiatus notice to this post telling us who you play, a brief reason as to why you will be gone, and an estimated date on when you'll be able to return to the game. No hiatus will exceed a month without any contact to the mods. Please don't lie about a family emergency just to be granted an extended hiatus - it's not appreciated and just makes you look bad. We obviously will not know when people are telling the truth and when they are not, but if we see you on AIM consistently and not participating in the game, we'll probably ask you what's up both out of a desire to find out what's going on and to make sure you are all right. Once you are removed, you may feel free to reapply when you have time for the game once more. How many characters can I take up at a time? • You may have up to three characters. That's the limit. If you have been a member of the community for a while, though, and feel like you really would like to play another and could maintain activity, contact a mod and we can see if we can work something out. We want our players happy, after all! My character is from Earth and would know all these fictional characters running around. Can I point that out? • No. There is a fourth wall that bars them from knowing this. Adephagia may have affected their memory in some way, making it impossible for them to recognize that the people around them are not real. They may be able to recognize certain characteristics (such as weapons, clothing, etc.) and be able to say something along the lines of, "This is like something out of a comic book/movie/book/etc. that I love!" but they would not be able to name names like Superman or The Hulk. There is a small exception to this: should a character be from a myth or legend that is widely known through the world, than a character may recognize them as that myth/legend. For example, if someone were to pick up Robin Hood for the BBC show, Robin Hood, then a character from Earth could recognize this character as such since there are such a wide variety of stories about Robin Hood. They would be able to flail like a fangirl over the fact that that they just met a legend. They would not, however, be able to remember the specific details of the life of Robin Hood in the BBC show itself. This maintains the fourth wall while keeping a sense of realism. What fandoms are allowed? • We are currently accepting all fictional based fandoms EXCEPT FOR THE GREEK/ROMAN MYTHS. Adephagia wouldn't steal these guys, after all. They were more powerful than she was. Are Kingdom Hearts characters who are also Final Fantasy characters available for me to play? • Yes. There is enough background differences from their FF opposite that they are more or less entirely new characters. So have at it - they'll simply get to meet someone who looks and acts exactly like them when they arrive in the community. What about Kingdom Hearts Disney characters? • Main characters who's histories are AU (such as Mickey or Goofy) and have fandom specific plots are allowed, but outside of them, no. In general, their histories don't change beyond meeting Sora and because of that, you will have to take them from their original canon if you wish to play them. Do the Nobodies get hearts since they will be alive? • Yes, as well as emotions. Can the Nobodies make darkness portals and can they use them to escape the island? • They can make them, yes, but Adephagia is tricky bugger and not about to let them escape that easily. They will be able to use the portals to get to different areas of the mansion or different areas of town (making it easy to avoid things) and arrive at their wanted destinations, but if they try to use it to get out of the world, they will simply end up back in their room or right back where they started from when they made the portal. It's useless. Adephagia's powers are stronger than anyone else's and because of that, you can't escape her. Sorry. Can I take my character from any canon point I'd like? • Absolutely! The only restraint that we put on this is that if you have a character who dies in their series, you must take them before the point they die. It can even be literal seconds before the time that they die, as long as it is before that point. I want to play a villain... do they have to get along with the heroes? • Of course not, we wouldn't want them to change their ways any more than the heroes will change theirs. They may be forced to room near them (or sometimes even with them, if agreed upon by both muns) but they will never be told they have to get along. They could hide away until it's time for bed so as not to interact with them or simply stay in their room whenever the other is around just to avoid them. It's up to you. My character is extremely powerful (God-mod-esque, even) and/or has an extremely powerful weapon. Is that okay? Will Adephagia reduce their powers or take away their weapons? • Adephagia does not like people who can beat her, her subjects, or the monsters lurking on the outside of the city walls. She does not like people more powerful than her or her precious babies. Because of this, she has set up a barrier around the island that will neutralize all powers. No matter how hard a character may try, their once fancy weapons will be normal ones now, and their super speed or attacks that can blast through solid walls will no longer be in affect. You will not be able to magic your way out of anything, heal fast, or control the elements to get yourself out of a situation. You will be human and it will take pure skill. My character speaks a different language than another character. Can they still read their entries? Can they talk with them or understand voice posts? • When your character arrives in the Isle of Camillus, they may feel as though they are speaking or writing their native tongue - but they aren't. Adephagia has altered their minds so that they are, instead, speaking Ancient Greek. It's the language everyone spoke back when she was in full power on Earth and because of that, she wants everyone to speak it here. Characters will not have to think about it or learn to speak it, they just will. They can make a conscious decision to speak in the language they knew back home, much like someone who fluently speaks English can make a conscious decision to speak French, but when they are on auto-pilot, they will be talking in Greek. No exceptions. Now that I've read these, I still want to apply! How should I go about that? • When you apply, comment to the application post with your complete app. Please use your own personal journal. If you do not have one, you may apply with a character one, but please state that that is why you are doing so. We should get back to you within 48 hours of your application being sent in. Should we not get back to you within 48 hours, feel free to either leave another comment or contact us directly. Most likely we did not receive a notification about it and haven't checked in to the journal within a few days because of the lack of notifications. We will be sure to go over your application as soon as we are able to and give you a response as quickly as possible. If you are rejected, you will always be given a reason as to why, and may feel free to apply again. |
