Eee eee a trailer for The Colour of Magic!Despite weird, weird casting choices (even though I am always in favour of any good part for Sean Astin) I am all a-squee.

The Monstrous Regiment group read has started! We'll read the first segment this week and discuss it next Saturday. It's on Livejournal but anonymous posting makes it possible to take part without making an LJ. It's still not too late to join in!

Cheesemongers over at Livejournal is hosting a Monstrous Regiment group read. If you ever needed an excuse to read or re-read this particular Pratchett gem, well here you go!

You don't have to have an LJ to join in, as the discussions will eventually be held in post comments.

The Colour of Magic adaptation has a website.

I have such conflicting feelings about this. Another Discworld movie yay! The setpieces yay! Tim Currey, Chris Lee, Sean Astin yay! I like Sir David too, but. But. Rincewind is not that old at that point, or has that body build, and Twoflower wtf I still think he should be Asian. :( :( NOW 'INTERESTING TIMES' MAKES NO SENSE ARGH. Yet it is Sean Astin so I can't hate him. I just can't. I AM SO CONFUSED.

Remember that time I asked after creative Discworld fan asylums?

There weren't any Discworld-specific and of general interest (though there was and is [info]teatime_fans!), so I made some.

Here's a question. It says in the asylum info that Discworld-related fanworks are also welcome here, but not a lot of people seem to post them here, especially fanfic, so I feel a little iffy about it myself. (And as I recall, there was a wankfest over the very concept of fanfiction on the Discworld community over at Livejournal in the past, which makes me even more reluctant.)

So, do you know of an active DW fic/art asylum here on Insanejournal, or if there isn't one, would anyone be interested in one?

New Terry Pratchett book coming out
Someone just pointed this out to me, but Terry's writing a sequel to going postal, called Making Money.

It's apparently coming out late September.

Who's looking forward to it? :D

    Favourite discworld plot arc?

Just thought this might be an interesting subject to discuss, but what are your favourite discworld novels?

Are you a witches fan, or do you prefer to stalk the death books?

Welcome to the Discworld fan asylum. My name is Morgayn and I'll be your mod, though I rather suspect you're all wise to the ways of internets and will rarely need my services. Nevertheless, this first post is a mod post.

We need a community icon. Anyone have an idea for some icon so shattering that the internet will never be the same again? Or, you know, one that will look nice on the comm info page? Anyone who has a graphic or an idea -- please comment. I'm lacking in brain today and can't come up with anything.
