I've been going around to different journals that I don't have friended and guessing any leftover questions in the movie meme. IS THAT ... RUDE? IDK. I hope no one thinks it's rude.
ALSO YES I AM WORKING ON DAVEY. Right now, in fact! |

| [NaNo] day 8 |
[Nov. 8th, 2009|12:40 pm] |
It has taken me several hours to crank through my words this morning. Kept having to find a place to hide, and then weathered lots of interruptions. When it's quiet, I crank along, but when Chick is coming in every five minutes to ask questions, I stutter step. The laundry interrupts as well, but I've gotten all three loads of gentles done and onto the line, now, so YAY.
14343 / 50000 words. 29% done!
I'm trying for 2500 words a day, which is overkill. But that means if I underwrite for whatever reason, I'll be okay. Also, with Thanksgiving and Boo's birthday also this month, plus knitting and basketball and things like that... well, yeah. I need give myself a cushion.
Today I found out more about who Rosemary is, and brought her on screen to give Cian someone to deal with. Cian? Needs some social skills, desperately. He has managed to piss Rosemary off completely, and I can't blame her at all. Also, did a bit of work with Doyle, and sketched out where Trea is. Need to write some with Trea, but she also seems to be living up to her role of "pawn" and "lost princess" and may well not be on screen for much of the first half of the novel. I think rescuing her will be where the pivotal scenes for the halfway mark start happening.
Um, that halfway mark is around the 50k mark. Obviously I need to keep writing when the month is done.
And for fun, a tidbit of Cian and Rosemary. For the record? This is not a paranormal romance. Rosemary is not going to fall head over heels for Cian after he manhandles her because he is OMG the alpha male she cannot live without. She's going to try to beat the shite out of him eventually, and he's just all EW at the idea of her in general.

The idea that Nicki Aycox would make a great freshly bitten still dealing with her werewolfism Lavender Brown in her early 20s was not an idea I needed first thing this morning. |

Look, it's more Logan Marshall-Green! I swore i was done, but in doing the last two episodes of Dark Blue that I had to do, Mr. Muppet Face had some more lovely expressions that i just couldn't resist. So small set here, but I had to do it.

Nicki Aycox from Dark Blue, FINALLY. I've been working on finishing out a decent set of her for ages, but I needed to get a few specific episodes done to get it complete. Standard Dark Blue disclaimers of course (there are some odd ones, from before I got the colorations better figured out, too). She was around 23-24 when these episodes were filmed.

Meta Golding, from Dark Blue. Someday I will be a completist and go find photoshoots to do as well, but for now, this small set will have to do. She has no age listing on IMDB so I'll go with guessing 20s, MAYBE early 30s (but I doubt it).

Dylan McDermott was roughly 38 when these episodes were filmed. Again, please excuse some really interesting colour palettes!

I hate iconning Dark Blue, and yet, I continue to do it. Please excuse some really strange colouration, but I've done my best to fix where I can. Omari Hardwick doesn't have a lot of facial expressions, but everyone once in a while he hits paydirt. He was 25ish when these episodes were filmed.

| [NaNo] day 7 |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|06:26 pm] |
Took yesterday off from NaNo because of traveling to go see TAI... with eternaleponine. So I had been spending some time trying to get ahead during the week (considering I took Wednesday off as well, that was a trick and a half!). I went straight from CT to a write-in at Brueggers without going home.
The write-in was a new experience for me. I was there for about 2 1/2 hours, and I was social for part of it. I ended up having to put my headphones in so I could actually crank out wordcount. Everyone was talking a lot, which was good and nice to talk to other people who were doing the same crazy thing, but I just had a lot of trouble focusing. And I really needed to make wordcount while I was there since once I came home I knew it wasn't happening.
Anyway, I ended up making over 2600 words today, which got me to just barely over target for the day. So yay!
11813 / 50000 words. 24% done!
My snippet for the day isn't a story quote at all, but the note I had to leave for myself when I mentally bailed on writing a fight: [Insert battle here later when you can think. Cat jumps in, takes off one of the critters and shakes it up, ripping it apart. Jack shoots the other one. Shayne ends up injured with a long scratch down her shoulder] |

| [NaNo] day 5 |
[Nov. 5th, 2009|07:53 pm] |
It was a fight to get started tonight, but I picked a scene that would have a lot of emotional resonance for Cian. It's close to where Marc is emotionally this week, and I knew I could try to draw him out that way. And I've got him, a Cian on the cusp of figuring out that he needs to make a major change in his life. From this point in the book it'd be all downhill.
Except for the part where I'm writing out order and there's still half a book to come before this.
Anyway, set a goal of 3000 words for today and bypassed that by 40 words just as I reached a good pause point. Had to make up for yesterday and on Saturday I'll need to make up for tomorrow, unless I squeak a word or three out. We'll see.
9230 / 50000 words. 18% done!

I don't remember when the last one of these I saw was; I just remember that I didn't participate and comment on nearly enough people's posts. This time, it's my resolution to do better, and so I will.
My only real complaint about the past few days is that the leg I busted at Rocky Horror is restless. It is both sprained and restless. So, I've been taking it easy, trying to NaNo/RP/write for class/do my research assistant stuff, and, then, out of nowhere, it'll start going, "You know what we should do? THINGS. We should go do THINGS. Like, I don't know, DDR. Or running a marathon. Or going up and down the steepest hill on campus just because! Or, or, or SOMETHING. That'd be AWESOME, let's do stuff." …And it's sprained, so I can't do much more with it than the awkward, gimpy walk thing I can do with my crutches. I had no idea a limb could be both sprained and restless. |

Right, this week is turning out even more stressy than expected. Had an intensely busy day at work yesterday, am in training today all day, and working only a half day tomorrow. My husband has the flu. Last night I took my daughter to a concert, and Friday I'm going to CT to see the same concert myself. My son tested for his belt in TKD last night and my parents are being tapped to help move people around because of the insanity. Sometime Saturday night I may be human again.
Still tagging my log during the moments that I can. If anything has gone up that Peter or Alban need to be aware of, please please please poke me here or on AIM. Right now I'm just trying not to faceplant asleep before I even leave the house for work. |

| James Purefoy (280) |
[Nov. 4th, 2009|12:54 am] |
Wow. This is, no lie, my largest batch since Hugh Jackman in 2007 -- and there's still more imagery I wanted to icon but couldn't, since I'm catching a flight tomorrow & leaving my big laptop behind. Just means there's more coming eventually!
Either way, James Purefoy is so majestic and rugged and attractive, I can't even stand it. To me, he's like an unusual combination between Hugh Jackman & Jack Davenport & Mads Mikkelsen. I used him for a while as the NPC PB for Jackman's older brother, and I thought it worked awesomely. Iconset is a combination of period clothing & modern era.
