Stargazing

"Oh Sirius, that feels wonderful."

"Mmmmm, yes it does, Heather."

Atop the astronomy tower, Sirius Black and Heather McKenzie had abandoned their star charts and clothing in favor of a practical anatomy study.

Their extra curricular endeavors ended abruptly upon hearing a door creak open and footsteps scuff along the stones directly toward them.

Sirius pushed Heather's clothes into her trembling hands and motioned for her to leave in the opposite direction. Once she disappeared around the corner he looked about for his own robes, cursing when he realized he'd given them to Heather as well.

He easily decided it was better to face whoever was about to round the corner than take his chances slipping through the halls of Hogwarts starkers. Sirius grabbed his graph parchment, holding it strategically to cover his midsection, and looked up at the night sky.

Albus Dumbledore ambled around the corner the next instant.

"Good evening, Mr. Black," he said as if it was common to find students clothed only in parchment on the astronomy tower at night.

"Good evening, Sir," Sirius replied. He hoped he sounded casual.

"It is certainly a lovely evening for stargazing," Dumbledore made a wide, sweeping gesture with his arm.

"It is, Sir" Sirius nodded, trying not to move very much.

After a few minutes of silent contemplation that seemed more like hours to Sirius, Dumbledore nodded and turned. "I've kept you from your studies long enough, Mr. Black," he said as he walked away.

Just as Sirius let out a sigh of relief, the Headmaster's face re-appeared at the corner.

"Word to the wise, Mr. Black," he said with a twinkle in his blue eyes. He nodded toward the parchment, still held in place, "the 'little dipper' is extending further south than the boundary of your chart."
