There were those certain times in life that made you wonder if something just wasn't right. They happened all the time, but Sensei had never really taken as much notice in the past as he did now. The meeting at the waffle house had been unsettling at best. Having Blaze there with him did give him quite a bit more confidence than he would have had going alone. Even so, there was just something about being there with all the other leaders that had put him ill at ease. Jax had been the worst of it, actually. There was just something about him that screamed "dangerous". Wrong. He'd been polite and generally pleasant the entire time, but it wasn't so easy to forget that he'd been the guy whose tribe took out the Mountain Lions. The Lions. They'd been the tribe to fear before, but now there really was no knowing what to think. It made him wonder if he was the only one that didn't feel completely settled with this new guy in town.

Maybe he was just overthinking it? It was possible. And considering that he still had a lot to think about to start with...well, something new just made it worse. He was still considerably worried about his sister. Was she really alright or was she just telling him that so that he wouldn't worry so much. It was hard not to be worried when he still saw the black and blue bruises not yet faded on her skin. It made him guilty, really. To know that he couldn't even take care of his own sister enough to keep her out of the danger that they all lived in now. He'd always wanted to give her the best, no matter how many times he'd counted her as an annoyance or been bothered by her in the past. She was his little sister!

Sensei had gone about work as usual, but the coming of the afternoon had him back up in his room, letting himself just sit on his bed and think. He was staring out of the window, his gaze following the clouds in the sky. He was slightly aware of other people moving around on the floor, but it wasn't his major concern. Unless Blaze or Nori happened by.

Things were by no means perfect in Blaze's world, but somehow he felt a little more stable than he ever had before. He had opened himself up to Sensei and was genuinely dedicated to making their relationship the best that he could. Sensei's sister had returned alive, and Blaze still had Hazard to lean on. Now more than ever he realized how important all of these people were to him, how their happiness was essential to his existence. If he'd been mellow when he came back from his time with The Free, he was even more matured now, after the war.

There was only the issue of Tootles, and Junk; the open wound that he kept covered until he could deal with it in private. He knew that eventually he'd have to process what had happened, the chances he hadn't taken, the things that he could have done differently. Yet, now he knew that he had people to fall back on if he needed them and that made all the difference in the world.

He had spent the morning in the basement, cleaning and organizing what was left down there and looking for supplies to fix the dumb waiters in the kitchen. Having the pulley system fixed would be an awesome convenience when it came to sending supplies and other things to the upper floors of the hospital. He'd remembered seeing some thick rope in the supply closet of the second floor so that was where he headed once he'd created a plan of attack for the pulley system. On his way back toward the kitchen he peaked into Sensei's room. He was surprised to see Sen just sitting there. It seemed like Blaze normally couldn't even get him to sit down long enough to eat lately.

"Hey, Sen..." He stepped into the room. "What's up?" He set the heavy bundle of rope on the floor, glad to be rid of its burden. He walked around the bed and sat down on the edge of it next to Sensei. "I wanted to see if I could use that rope for the dumb waiters?" He nodded in the direction of the door. His gaze narrowed for a moment as he studied Sensei. "I know that look. What is it?"

There were so many things to do. Or at least Sensei thought that there were. If he had idle time, he filled it with whatever he could. If there wasn't anything to do, he made something to do. Simple as that. Sitting still gave him too much time to think about things, generally. And having too much time to think was nothing but detrimental. It just brought about flashes of his sister covered in bruises along with the face of Jax at that meeting with the leaders. It was too much to really think about. So he chose not to. Just doing things, no matter what they were, to fill up his time...it made things better. Most times he wouldn't really slow down for anything. Eating, sleeping. All of it. Blaze could end up persuading him in the end, at least sometimes.

The sound of Blaze's voice snapped him out of his train of thought. Sensei looked over at him. "Nothing. Just...thinking." His eyes glanced over at the bundle of rope dropped on the floor. What was that for? Immediately his eyes were back on Blaze as he came to sit on the bed. "Oh. Well it'd likely work well. Seems sturdy enough." Again, his thoughts started to slip back to everything he'd been thinking about before. It was bothersome when there was another person around. Especially one that he cared for, like Blaze.

Inevitably the question came. "It's nothing..." he said, running a hand through his hair. "Really. Everything's fine."
