Week Fifteen - Sunday
Who: Cricket, Kahea, and Gent
What: Cricket wants to meet pretty dancer girl
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Gent's boat
Rating: TBD
Status: In progress

Sunlight streamed in through the gold lace curtains of her little room, hitting Cricket's eyelids directly. She squirmed and rolled away from the offensive light, burying her face in the many colors of her blankets and cushions. But her eyes sprung open as the events from the night before bloomed in her foremost thoughts. Gent had been hiding a very pretty, and very talented, girl from her, she thought as she sat up in bed. Not that she blamed him. With the way the new girl moved, Cricket would have tried to monopolize her time if given have a chance. Changing as quickly as possible out of her white cotton pajamas, she wrapped herself up in a sari that closely resembled fire. The dress started with a deep red at the bottom, then faded into hot orange, and then into bright yellow at the top. She adorned her light sienna wrists with gold bangles and tied some of her dark chestnut hair back out of her eyes. Looking at her attire, some might have assumed that today was some sort of celebration for Cricket, but those who knew her also knew that every day was an excuse to get dressed up for Cricket.

After pulling on some sandals, Cricket left her boat once more to see what Gent was up to. She crossed gracefully over to his boat and practically floated up to his main door. "Gent? Gent, you up yet?" she called in her Indian-British mix of an accent while she knocked on his door. Surely the man was up by now. It was nearly noon, and if he was still fishing, her commotion would have scared his prey away. But hopefully she had not startled the mysterious beauty Cricket was sure was still hiding on Gent's boat.

Gent had woken slowly and peacefully that morning. The soft waves that had rocked him to sleep were as effective as an alarm clock as the were a lullaby. Besides, after Kahea had gone to sleep- for real the second time around- Gent ahd been able to set his worries aside and dream of what a lovely little dancer she was. It had been a pleasure to see such a brilliant performance on his own back porch. And he hadn't been the only one to see it. he hadn't been in town in a while but he'd recognize that chai tea skin and ebony hair anywhere. Cricket would be over soon to see the little ballerina up close and Gent couldn't help but smile at the idea of how this was going to pan out. What if he refused to let her see Kahea? Cricket was pretty good at getting what she wanted. And she had a super arsenal of recipes to trade... Gent could never get enough of that girl's cooking. It really was a pity she didn't play for his team. That spicy little number was enough to put a little burn in any man. Once she got her pretty little hands on Kahea, the girl would be a gonner. So Gent would have to enjoy the time he had with her.

It was easy to do. They sat at his little table eating breakfast, respective cats on respective laps and plates of warm food being slowly consumed. Between chewing, Gent's jaw was getting a work out. Kahea had a lot of questions, some of which he couldn't answer, but most of which were about the way things were run in Sundance. He was in the process of explaining the Runners and their crackpot collection of misfits and miscreants when he felt the nearly imperceptable weght of someone climbing aboard Le Coeur. His name sounded through the glass not a moment later.

Grinning, Gent went to pull open the glass so the walking flame could light up his living room. He looked like a shadow in comparison- his skin dark, his shirt white, his vest and pants two different shades of soft grey. Gent had always appreciated Cricket's love for dressing up, as well as her taste for shiny jewelry. He'd gifted his friend with numerous pieces of glittery jewelry, someting they shared a passion for. The gold wa prominent on her wrists as she jingled her way across the threshold.

"uh-course I'm wake, little miss Cricket. You know meh. The only time I sleep in is after a nice night-time romp. And seeing how you won't cross over to the dark side, I been wakin' up nice and early these days." he winked at her as he showed her in.

With a broad smile, Cricket took Gent's chin between her fingers and planted a kiss on his cheek with an emphatic, "Muah!" It truly was a shame that she could not show a greater interest in men. Gent was certainly the more respectable of his species, and she had no doubts that relations between them would be pleasurable for both parties. But alas, Cricket could not bring herself to feel anything more than friendship toward males. That did not mean that she did not exercise being a wicked tease whenever possible.

"I suspected you might have been romping last night," she replied with a wink, releasing his charming face. "Imagine my surprise when I discovered that you have been a very naughty boy, Gent." Her delicate fingers toyed with her bracelets as she eyed the man, the fire of her dress reflected playfully in her charcoal eyes. He had always been kind enough to gift her with pretty trinkets every so often, but not introducing her to the beautiful dancer as soon as he discovered her was a downright crime. Planting one hand on her hip, the other gestured toward Gent's guest with her palm flat and facing the ceiling. "Just how long have you been keeping this jewel from me?"

Gent cracked a smile. He'd nailed the reason for Cricket's visit dead on. Of course, he'd know her for how many years now? He pretty much had her habits and tendencies engrained in his head. So he expected the kiss, expected the hand on the hip and the cheeky, flirty accusation. He had to laugh at the picture she created- this pretty little flame standing in his kitchen and shaking a metaphorical finger at him for keeping a "jewel" from him.

"Sorry, cher. But this jewel isn't up for grabs. I'll be luckeh if she doesn't get me in trouble with thah uppers. You know how drifters have been causin' mischief lateleh. And with all the shuffle aftah this war, things aren't safe out theh. Of course, you're welcome to sit heah and eat breakfast with her. Yah prove I can trust yah and I'll let yah have some fun with her while I run into town fer some things." Walking over to the table and into Kahea's range of hearing, Gent put his hands lightly on Cricket's hips and pushed her forward to make the introductions.

"Kahea, this is Cricket. She lives a couple boats over- close enough to see all that dancing you did last night." He winked playfully at her over Cricket's shoulder. "She came over to get a look at the pretty flower she things I'm watering. Uh-course, we both know that's not true, but she doesn't have to. I think little miss Cricket might be a bit jealous if we let her believe that." Pulling out the chair between his and Kahea's, Gent let Cricket take it then sat back down in his own to finish his breakfast.

After the workout, Kahea slept the rest of the night without anymore nightmares. In fact, she didn't have any dreams at all, which was quite normal for Kahea most of the time. It had become rare for her to have dreams without them becoming nightmares, so over time her mind just stopped recalling her dreams.

Kahea awoke at the very first sign of light. Even though the sun hadn't quite shown through the room window, Kahea's body clock knew it was sunrise. Spending countless days outside, it had become habit to wake up with the sun and get things going. Even though Kahea had planned on taking things slow today, she couldn't bring herself to sleep anymore, so she go up and tip-toed with Anela to the kitchen. Kahea decided that she would make breakfast that morning, the least she could do for the man who's putting her up, no questions asked. Plus she still had those bird eggs that she didn't want getting spoiled.

Kahea dug around and found a few other things to add with the eggs, and made a pretty good breakfast for the two of them. While they sat down eating, Kahea asked all the inquiring questions that were bubbling in her head.

That's when she heard a sweet voice floating from behind Gent's door. When he opened it, Kahea glanced around his frame to see who the tempting voice belonged to. There was a quite beautiful woman standing before him with a bright colored sari and jingling bracelets on. She curiously chewed her food as she listened in on their conversation. She wiped her hands and lips as she stood up when Gent introduced the two of them. She felt a slight blush creep over her cheeks as she heard the explanation why "Cricket" was there. I didn't think anyone else had seen me. Oh crap.

"Uh, hi," Kahea managed to get out before sitting back down as Cricket sat. She suddenly felt very self-conscious in her long faded-blue pajama pants and off-white sweater. "Oh, food, right." She remembered Gent's offer, and got back-up to make a plate of food for their new guest.

The corner of Cricket's lips curled up in a smirk at Gent's teasing as he ushered her in to sit with them. She pounced at the opportunity to meet new people, but Gent had her sounding like a sexual beast on the prowl. Though it had been a while since she had a decent lover, Cricket did not need Gent scaring off someone who she would at least like to keep around as a fellow dancer and kindred spirit. Not everything revolved around sex. Dancing and seduction could be just as thrilling.

"Kahea," Cricket repeated gently, her eyes following the girl as she busied herself with making another plate. The name sounded as if it belonged to a flower or perhaps a goddess of the air. "It's a beautiful name for a beautiful dancer. So what brings you to Sundance, Kahea?" She leaned forward, letting her arm rest on the table while she set her chin on her hand in interest.

A deep blush set upon Kahea's cheek as she heard the raven haired beauty's complement of her name. She was lucky she was facing the stove at the moment. Anela brushed against her ankle and she snapped out of the weird mind-set and turned around and placed the plate of food in front of Cricket.

"It's funny you should say that actually. Kahea is short for Kaheanani, which actually means "beautiful call of the dancer" in Hawaiian. And this is Anela," she commented as the cat jumped back up into her lap. "Anela means Angel in Hawaiian." She smiled at the Indian woman as she stroked the purring tabby. Why am I discussing this with this stranger? What's wrong with me?

The oh-so-common twinkle returned to Cricket's eyes. "Hawaiian?" She turned her attention to Gent and nudged his shoulder with her own. "You're collecting quite the exotic bouquet." She took a bite from the plate in front of her and made a little sound of pleasure. "You are well-named, but what is the Hawaiian word for 'heavenly cook?'" After a sideways wink toward Kahea, Cricket turned to Gent once more.

"It seems I might have some competition in more areas than one." Despite her words, she did not aim for the two of them to be at odds. The two women could be quite the dangerous duo if Kahea played her cards right. They both could dance, so it would be easy to lure in unsuspecting prey. And while Cricket could certainly cause some damage with her cooking, she suspected Kahea had better methods of attack, especially if she had been a drifter all this time.

Kahea giggled at the comment.

"Uh.. that word would be kukelani, but I'm only as good as the ingredients I have to work with, so this is actually one of the best meals I've made in a very long while, thanks to you Gent. All I provided was the eggs." Kahea was feeling so relaxed, which was amazing considering the events that occurred the day before. And if she didn't know any better, she'd say that Cricket was coming on to her? This thought had Kahea kind of confused considering she had just met the woman. But then again, things with Una those years back did move pretty quickly too..... Kahea shook those memories right out of her head as she continued her earlier thought, answering Cricket's comments.

"As far as actually being Hawaiian, I'm afraid I don't have the privilege to make that claim. But my mom grew up there so... anyway, I came here to Sundance to try and look for my brother, but according to Jed was it? He hasn't been seen here. But I still have the rest of the town to go look around. Did I ever tell you thank you for the complement?" Kahea felt so random and babble-some, it was baffling her. She usually just asked questions and kept going. Making connections with people was rare for her, mainly because she just couldn't help but second guess people's motives. And yet so far, the people she's met haven't really given off that "un-trust-worthy" vibe.

And she was enjoying this lovely woman's company.

Gent had to duck his head and continue eating to prevent the women from seeing his smile and prevent himself from laughing outright. He'd seen Kahea match Grey and Jed stride for stride yesterday. He'd seen her keep her cool under the attack of three brutes in the woods. He'd seen her dance like and angel by the light of the moon when she thought she was alone. And now this delightful banter with his rather precocious neighbor was throwing her for a loop! She was babbling more that a brook after a spring deluge and he was enjoying seeing the little fox tripping over her normally silver-edged tongue. He had to hand it to Cricket- the little lady knew how to play with people of equal and greater caliber.

Managing to swallow the laughter swelling up in his throat, Gent looked up at the two women and lifted a brow at Cricket. "Collecting? Cricket, hun, you know I don't treat women like things to be collected. I take offense at that, dear. You're woundin' mah pride and questionin the values that my Mama always taught me tah live by." He turned to look at Kahea. "Cher have I been anything but respectful to yah?"
