Week Fifteen-Friday Evening

Who:Kahea and Grey
Where:Wolf Farm House
When:Early Friday Evening
What:It's been raining off and on all day, making Kahea aggitated. She hates cold.
Rating:PG-13 for Kahea's language when she get's ranting

Kahea had been walking around town all day, and was aimlessly headed out of it to what she hoped was towards the farm house that was mentioned to her earlier. She was tired, hungry, sore, and not to mention, cold and wet. Now, Kahea was a swimmer after all, and loved the water, and normally loved the rain, but when the temprature dropped that morning and the first few drops where felt on her head, she knew that she was going to have a lousy day. She had spent most of her life in warm temprarture climates, with humid rain storms, and cross winds for cooling off. But this 60 and 50 degrees in the month of May crap really annoyed the hellout of her.

Anela thankfully decided to spend the day cuddled in her shirt, helpign to keep her warm under her longsleeve shirt and jacket. Her feet on the other had were beginning to be a problem. With the rain, they of course became wet, but with the ever so slight wind biting at them, they became like iceys in her tennis shoes.

"Argh! I hate this weather!" Kahea vented to the tress and ground around her. A few more minutes and she finally caught glimsp of a barn. Wanting to run towards the shelter, she knew she had to keep her walking pace. Running only makes you hit the rain more, causing you to get wet more. Upon reaching the barn, Kahea nearly cried with relief, and pried her fingers from her pockets to slide open the huge door. After a few tuggs, she had it opened enough to squeeze her body through an opening big enough for her. To close it back again, it took the last of her strength, but she managed to close out the chilling rain before she decided to collasp onto the barn floor. I'll take a nap maybe, yeah, and then go out later and find someone. Kahea didn't bother pulling out anything from her bag, knowing full wel that by now most of her things were alreday soaked by slowly being out in the rain. She just clutched the bag gently to her, as to not crush Anela, but to still have a cushion for something comfortable while she fitfully drifted off to sleep.

Grey had been relatively quiet since, oh about Tuesday, and he couldn't say that he wasn't relieved at the timing of him needing to go check on everything for the night. Sox had just started enquiring if he had gone and checked things over at the mines. He had somewhat avoided the question by saying, "Yeah I went, they are worried about infection, because apparently a couple of their lot have been getting sick." It had been what he had learnt, but when Sox started to pry into why he had a cut on his neck and what he had done to his knee, Grey used the excuse with relief.

Ducking out of the house in his rain jacket, the rain had slowed at the moment as he started with the barns furtherest from the house. It wasn't something that took him long, but he figured he's just go to bed when he got back. That seemed like the safest idea since there was no way he was confiding in anyone about what happened on Tuesday. Plus what was the harm, it wasn't like anything was going to happen between himself and Poe again. His brain said 'absolutely nothing is ever going to happen there again' but it was battling with something a little deeper within him that said, 'oh yes it is'.

That battle inside of him was exactly why he wasn't talking about it. Had it been something he could throw off without thought he's likely not care about mentioning it, but there was a little more there than he was ready to admit at this point. He certainly was a mess when it came to women, so why not Poe. The idea of it was laughable. Everything she was was everything Grey hated in women, or at least everything he thought he hated.

Coming into the last barn with only what he was wearing and all the confusing thoughts in his head, he was surprised when he turned on the light to find the girl from the river in his barn. Laughing, he said, "Get stuck in the rain?"

It was the sound of laughing that jerked Kahea from her surprisingly sound sleep, even though she couldn't have been down for longer than ten or so minutes, or could she? She looked up to see, oh what was his name again, Grey! She saw Grey standing over her, still a comical smile on his face.

Scowling, Kahea hoisted herself up and yanked her bag over her shoulder. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. As you can tell, I did get caught in the annoyingly freezing rain. And I just so happened to remembered you saying that you were located somwhere by a farm on the East side of town. So I trudged my happy-ass over here for a bit of shelter and maybe a warm blanket. But if all I'm going to recieve is some childish,... ugh. nevermind."

In the beginning, Kahea had it in her mindset to give him a peice of her mind, but now, she felt the full extent of her ware and couldn't find it in her to start an arguement at the moment.

"I'm sorry, I just don't have it in me to start an arguement with you right now. If you can just get me dry and warm, maybe I'll try again and do better." That's when Anela finally decided to pop out her head from the front of Kahea's jacket, looking around to see what had caused her to be disturbed from her slumber.

Grey couldn't help himself and let out a hearty laugh, "Woah there little girl retract, those claws. I merely was laughing because I wasn't expecting to find someone in one of our barns. Nothing more." Shaking his head, he thought to himself, 'why is it that lately I seem to be arguing with women...

At that thought, his mind shifted back to the last argument he had with a woman. Tuesdya with Poe, where quite the brutal fight had ended with the quick shedding of clothing. Grey didn't like to think of himself as that kind of man, but there was not doubt it was exactly what had happen and god had it left a mark. Somehow everything over the past few days had reminded him of something akin to that day. Hell he could even swear he could still smell blood and sex. God it had been good he thought quietly to himself, while quickly saying but it's never going to happen again, she's might as well be a prostitute.

Snapping out of his thoughts as the last one made him remembered how much he shouldn't care, he said, "Well come on,we've got hot water and towels back at the farm, and I'm sure someone can lend you some dry clothing."

Why did it seem that she was needing the help of others lately? It had been so annoying. But Kahea was grateful for the offer, especially when she heard the magic words "hot water". Water, swimming, Pan. Why did her thoughts just drift back to that bright colored man? Because he was absolutely amazing, that's why. Kahea kept her smirk to herself, and decided to answer the laughing man.

"That sounds great, I would love some hot water, and dry clothes. And hopefully without the laughing, if you don't mind. I've been through enough to not find any of it funny, thank you. However, if you care for more laughs I could fill you in on how my day's been so far," Kahea stated sarcastically while she gathered her things and followed the Farm Leader out.

As she followed him out of the barn, Grey turned back around and looked back into the barn. After deciding there was nothing out of place, he turned off the lights. Shutting the large door behind him, it was obvious that he had done it just a couple of times in his life as there didn't seem to be any resistance.

Turning back Grey shrugged, "Life on this planet could always use a couple more laughs. So you might as well fill me in." They were not very far from the house, and he could already see the lights being turned on in various rooms.

Was this guy seriously still playing games with her? Well, he wants a laugh, she'll give it to him.

As she sulkingly followed him towards a house she began her rant. "Well, first off, I was rudely awaken this morning by this very annoying rain that has been continuing off and on all day long. I'm a girl who has been raised in relatively warm climates and this sixty and fifty degree crap with rain and wind intermittently coming and going making me and my clothes AND my shoes sopping wet is just freak'n pissing me off."

Kahea took in a deep breath to keep from losing it. A shiver ran through her entire body as an ice cold rain drop hit the back of her neck and dripped all the way down her spine. In that instant, Kahea flashed back to another day where it was cold and raining. A day that was officially the second most scariest one she'd had in her entire lifetime. Sitting in that waiting room, just ready and anxious to be called in and get the procedure over with, thank god Michael had been there with her, every step of the way.

Without realizing it, Kahea was looking down and had subconsciously started crying, shaking while doing so, both from the cold and from the memories.

The barn had been the closest to the house, and so it hadn't taken much time at all for them to walk through the back yard. Grey was listening to her complain about the weather, and he couldn't help but find himself annoyed. He had always been the type of guy that didn't like when people complained about this, that and the other thing, but he especially disliked when people complained about the weather. It was a tick that he had within him, buried there by his father. His father had always made the best of every season, and had always reminded everyone he met of exactly what they brought and meant to the farm.

When Grey had been younger, he had always rolled his eyes whenever his father had started the conversation about saturation levels, or the fact that the frost killed off many bacteria and viruses that would have killed off many cops and loads of livestock if not kept in check every year.

As he had gotten older though, even before the virus he had started to see just how many people complained about the weather and Grey had honestly started to talk to people about it, just like his father did, though usually his response was a little different, and certainly less scientific than his father's had ever been.

As he stepped up the back steps the open the door, he was shaking his head as he said, "Then why move to Sundance? Our winters are cold and usually wet, we...." and then he cut off as he saw her, when he opened the door to let her inside of the house. "What's wrong?"

Kahea was shook out of her lost memory by the question, and the sudden feeling of warmth radiating from the opened door. She looked up at the taller man who was standing over her, leaving the door opened for her to walk in first, which she finally did, before acknowledging the question set before her.

"It's like I came her by choice you know. I had to be here for..." she choked herself off with deep breath to keep the memory back. She started again, trying her best to keep back the pain in her voice as she spoke.

"I came here for my brother. And I have nothing against the rain and the cold really. I just, grew up in a warmer climate, that's all. And the rain, well, I don't have the fondest memories of..."

Ah, hell, she couldn't stop the steady stream of tears, and it was beginning to annoy her. Just go away already! Stop coming to my mind! I hate this. I hate you! Like an egg being dropped from a shelf, Kahea collapsed to the floor and 'cracked' with a flood of tears.

Grey listened to her quietly not really wanting to push. He knew how it felt to be somewhere for someone else. To be truthful he had felt like that about the farm after the virus. He had always wanted to leave the farm and the life it entailed, but after the virus it and what was left of his family needed him. Nowadays he had grown to love and even appreciate the farm and what it gave to not only the tribe, but himself as well. There were always times though, that he wondering what life would have been like if there had never been a mass epidemic. His would have been very different indeed.

As Kahea crumbled onto the floor in tears, Grey was shocked and honestly wasn't exactly sure what to do. Sure he had been raising girl and boys for the past few years, and he had even grown up with a girl who might as well have been a sister, but he had never honestly had someone walk into his house and end up on the floor.

As it wasn't late, he wasn't the only person looking at her unsure of what to do. Plenty of little heads were peeking around corners and tables, curious os not only who this was, but why she was now on the floor. Frowning, Grey said, "I... uhh.... well there are a lot of people looking for family still.... Maybe you should go upstairs and get yourself cleaned up and then we can have a talk?"

Stop crying. Must stop crying. Damnit you are stronger that this! Anela crept out of her shirt, and slowly began nudgeing Kahea's cheek. I know sweetie. I know. Thank you. Kahea sweared that with out that cat, she would not have survived these past four years on her own. Her sobs slowed, and she brought her hands up to her faced to clean it before pulling herself back together and finally sitting up before standing again.

Eyes still puffy and hazel in color from sadness, Kahea cleared her throat before speaking. "I apologize for that. It's been a long day." She slowly took a look at her surroundings, and noticed the little faces with little eyes all staring at her and the ball of fluff she held in her trembling hands. "Earlier you mentioned something about a hot shower? I think my nerves and my freezing fingers and toes could use that right about now, if it's not too much trouble."

Grey watched her, she was obviously dealing with a lot and when life was slinging mud, sometimes people just got too bogged down within their own lives. He thought that was probably what was going on with Kahea. As her kitten strayed once more into eye sight, he saw her begin to be able to control herself again. Once she had pulled herself back together she was back up off the floor and seemed generally composed, though a shakiness was still evident.

"It's down the hall to the left, I'll get Sox to grab you something dry to wear in the mean time." He knew Sox was well within ear-shot as she was only of the most precocious little things the farm had ever seen and quickly enough she chirped up from behind a closet door and said, "Yep, no problem, I'll go stea... I mean ask some of the girls if you could borrow some." With that the young girl was out of the closet and running up the stairs, as Grey watched her with a look of annoyance. He really needed to have a talk to her about social conduct.

Kahea watched the cute little girl run up the stairs with energy and enthusiasm she wished she had half of at the moment. She turned back to Grey. "Thank you. Really, thank you." Her eyes saying any and all appreciation and gratefulness she had in her at the moment. Kahea tuned back around to follow the direction that Grey had given her, but she quickly caught herself in the act of her first step and squatted down to removed her soggy shoes and socks. "Old habits die hard. I don't walk through anyone's house with shoes on, especially if they're dirty. It's just rude." She tied her laces together and swung the pair of tennis around her shoulder before heading to the shower and the much needed hot water.

Not wanting to take up too much time in the bathroom, and keep Grey waiting for her, Kahea took her father's military five minute shower. Well, there was a slight exception, it was probably about seven to eight minutes of a shower, so she could stand there and soak, but she was still in, out, and dressed in ten minutes flat. Sox had brought down the clothes for her just before she stepped into the shower, and luckily nothing was too small. The shirt was a little on the big side, but Kahea usually liked them that way, and the jeans were a perfect fit somehow. Sox even through in a pair of socks, with cats on them. ha, kids. so cute.

She stepped out and looked around, trying to spot the farm leader.
