Week Fifteen - Tuesday
Who: Grey & Poe and eventually Jax
What: Grey goes sneaking around Jackal territory and gets caught in more ways than one
When: Tuesday mid-morning
Where: Jackal Territory, on a path to the Vance Copper Mines
Rating: R let's just go with R

Grey was sitting at the kitchen table early Tuesday morning, as the whole 'family' was gathered in the main rooms to eat breakfast. It was a tradition that usually brought Grey some feeling of security and peace, but today his mind was anything but settled. Yesterday he had received an invitation to a meeting of the Tribal Leaders by the Jackals. He was apprehensive about it to say the least and had tried to push all of his doubts out of his mind, but then Sox had told him something odd.

Sox had been one of the many local kids who's parents had not had the burial that Grey's had. They had died when most of the adults had and as such their burial had been a mass one into the Vance Copper Mines. It hadn't been nice, but at the time it had been the last resort when bodies were piling up around the city. So like many, Sox had always grieved for his parents at the Mines. According to Sox, he had gone down like he had every month when there was peace to grieve, but had stopped just inside of the forest's edge. What he had told Grey was the he had caught sight of a full guard around the Mines.

That was in no way normal, and it just didn't sit right with Grey; just like nothing had since the Jackals had come to Sundance. After Grey had finished his chores that morning, he had taken off into the city and toward the Mines. Something was really bugging him about the whole thing, and since this Jax character was playing the 'peace' card Grey didn't think he was likely to harm a Tribal Leader the day before such an important meeting. It was a risk, but Grey had never really been known for his levelheadedness.

That lack of focus when it came to being careful was likely the reason the Grey found his feet falling through the earth as he was walking down the path outside of the city toward the mines.

As his head hit the ground, all Grey could think was 'get your knife out' and it was the first thing he did after quickly scrambling back onto his feet. There was a pang in his knee, where the force of the impact had obviously jammed something, but that;s not where Grey's focus was. No his eyes were darting around the bottom and top of the pit he had found himself in.

When he found himself alone, he hugged the edges waiting with baited breathe for round two, but round two didn't come. After half an hour Grey started to yell for help.

"Looks like you got yourself in a bit of a tight spot, Farmer Boy."

Poe leant over the edge of the pit, precariously balanced on the toes of her stiletto boots. She'd left the Palace that morning, grumpy and not looking forward to the prospect of checking the Jackal's mouse traps. Now, after an hour or so of walking along the outskirts of the mines, Poe was looking a man, a rather good-looking man if she was going to be honest with herself. He had been crying quite loudly for help, proving he wasn't the smartest bulb in the box. Common sense should have compelled him to stay quite when he was trapped in enemy territory.

Still, besides his lack of rational thought, this man was... intriguing,,,, She's never looked at a man and thought that perhaps he might be worth knowing. This man, wicked blade in hand and the look of a trapped, but still dangerous, animal about him, was giving her ideas....

Poe scowled as she watched him. He was limping. And wounded animals were so much easier to bait. That made things a little less fun for her... but she hadn't had a good victim for ages now. She needed to torture someone.

"Just look you, you poor little thing," She let out a low, mocking chuckle as she smirked down at the man. "You look so startled and wounded! Tell me. What were you planning on doing with that toy knife of yours from all the way down there?" Poe laughed as she tugged the collar of her trench coat closer to her throat. She loved being warm and comfortable while he was in such a wretched situation.

Grey had been about ready to sit down and wait, though the prospect was not appealing, when he head footsteps and then a woman's voice. Looking up at her, he doubted immediately that she had any intention of helping him. He thought he'd at least try to play nicely, though he was already in a foul mood. "Yep, seem to have gotten myself into a bit of a predicament." There was a flair of sarcasm in his voice, but he just couldn't help it.

He waited while she watched him, obviously sizing him up. He was doing the same as his eyes picked up what they could. She was good looking if you ignored all of the crap she had put on her skin, but that combined with the attitude gave him reason to believe that she wasn't just some little girl.

When she mentioned the he looked wounded, he stopped favouring his knee all together, which sent a good prick of pain into his system which he pushed to the side. "Oh don't worry your pretty little head, my knee is fine. Just took most of the fall." Sneering, he continued, "And I intend to skin anything that comes down here with me with my little toy knife. Feel like seeing how real it is?"

At the mention of skinning, Poe let a long, loud, and raucous laugh roll out of her throat. She noticed that he stopped favoring one knee over the other and doubted her could catch her even if she did somehow manage to fall into the death trap. But his fire and sarcasm got her going, there was no doubt about that, and no man had ever managed to get her going before. She had a reputation at the Palace, a reputation that brought men flocking to her door- the kind of men that wanted a challenge... and a side of pain with their pleasure.

Poe grinned wickedly as she crouched on her heels and pulled out the knife that she'd taken from that bastard at the Palace last week. The long, wickedly curved blade slide deliciously along the skin of her thigh as she slipped it from it's sheath. She fingered the blade as she watched the Farmer, tracing her finger along the edge and licking away the line of blood that stayed where the blade passed. She'd seen him around before, not enough to know what kind of person he was, but enough to know that he was the leader of the Wolves at the farm. She wondered if he was as good of a rider as those country boys were rumored to be... That though made her grimace.... Since when did she wonder such things about men that weren't paying her? Clearing her throat and licking another bead of blood from the tip of one satin finger, Poe smiled evily down at Farm Boy and winked at him.

"Really? You think you could hurt me Farm Boy? The Torturess of the Palace? The Raven who snaps bones and cuts out pieces of skin before she kills you?" Poe let out another laugh, this time dripping with disdain and contempt. "Farm Boy, you should know better than to tempt a bitch who's good with a blade." Her eyes flickered with a cold fire as she stared down at him, wondering if he was really any good with that little knife of his. The thought sent delicious shivers down her spine.

So she was from the Palace, he couldn't say he was surprised. The thought had even crossed his mind, but he did try to to judge other people before he knew for sure what they were. He had never been to the Palace himself, though many of his friends had tried to take him there. It wasn't his scene and he didn't have to pay in order to get sex, so why should he?

Watching her with her own knife, was intriguing, but the idea of her working at the Palace firmly put her in the column that he had no use for not matter what his own body might be deciding.

As she talked about her work in the Palace, Grey couldn't help but burst out laughing, "Darling if someone is paying you for it, or is drunk enough to be caught putting up a fight in a place like that I don't doubt you can hurt them. But I'd bet money you'd be on the ground in under a minute if I told you to go out and kill a thousand pound bull with just that knife." He couldn't help himself as he continued to laugh at her.

Poe felt her shoulders stiffen and a flush spread across her chest all in the same instant. On one hand, he was betting that she couldn't kill something. She wrote herself a mental note to go and slaughter every living member of the bovine family on the farm the next time she wandered into that general area. On the other hand, he was so... cocky.... and he didn't seem like the kind of scum that usually paid her. He seemed like the kind of scum that just looked at a girl and got her to strip and hop into bed. And then there was the cold fury spreading through her veins as he continued to laugh at her. If there was anything that any of her acquaintances had learned about her over the years, it was that you did not mock the infamous Rosalinda Raven Carillo.

She leapt, cat-like, into the pit and had her knife to his throat before he had even pasued in his laughter to breath. Pushing him, she pinned him to the wall, her knife dripping tiny rubies from the cut it left on the smooth skin of his neck. Her voice was a low growl when she spoke next.

"Farm Boy, you should know better than to challenge someone who used to castrate three-hundred pound thugs just for fun.

Grey hadn't stopped laughing when Poe jumped into the pit with him, nor had be stopped when she had the knife to his throat, but when he felt the knife cut gently into the skin of his neck, that's when he stopped laughing. That's when his temper flared and unfortunately for Poe, his temper didn't exactly listen to his father's reasoning of don't harm ladies... at least not when those ladies had put a knife up to his throat with intention.

Growling, Grey's hands can up quickly grabbing both of her wrists and pushing her away from him. The two knife changing against each other she he twisted both of her arms behind her back and basically threw he against the opposing side of the pit.

Staring at her in the eye, he yelled into her face, "And you little city girl better watch out which Farm Boy you piss off, because apparently you picked the wrong one." His body was pressured firmly again Poe's as he held her against the wall. His temper flaring through his breath, as he stared at her.

For the first time in her life Poe felt the challenge men always sought her out for. Her wrists were stinging slightly from the speed at which he'd spun her away from his throat, and her back was pressed so firmly against the earth, her front pressed so firmly to his, that she couldn't help arching into every hard plane in his body. This was new...

But Poe wasn't the type to surrender after the first exchanging of blows. As she arched, she slid one long and muscled leg between his, flipping her ebony hair out of her face and whispering into his ear," The wrong one? What fun is it if you don't put up a bit of a fight, huh, Grey?" As the words flowed over her crimson lips, Poe wrapped her leg around Greys and launched herself off the wall. She spun as she flew, twisting around Grey's injured knee and pushing his face to the ground. Straddling his back, Poe ran the tip of her knife up the base of his muscled spine and leaned forward to let her hot breath wash over his ear. "You're nerve is inspiring, Grey. But the yelling is a bit less than classy."

Oh, Grey felt her arch back against him, which was likely the reason why he lost focus for a moment and in the next found himself on the ground. As much as he was not liking this exchange there was something in him that highly disagreed with that Sentiment. He cringe as his knee throbbed, but that wasn't about to stop him.

When she raised the knife off his back to whisper in his ear, he pushed up with his arms turning himself over underneath her, before quickly using that momentum to change positions with her.

"I don't pretend to be something I'm not, but I'm certainly not a bit of a fight." Now hovering over her, her grabbed her wrist and smashed it against the ground in order to get her to release the knife while his other hand firmly held the other arm against the ground, his own knife laying where he had found himself face down in the dirt.

First she felt like she was flying- Then she slammed into the ground. And on top of her was something even more solid than the packed presence of the earth at her back. Something that proceeded to slam her fist against the dirt, making her hiss in a breath through clenched teeth and loosen her hold on her blade's handle. He certainly wasn't a bit of a fight. Madre de Dios, the average man would have been on the ground nursing a wounded pride and more after a stunt like she'd just pulled. She had to give him credit.

"Hmm... So let's not pretend shall we? This whole rough and tumble, dominating thing?" Poe arched against the ground, flexing and caressing with a body that made men cry, and wrapping one long leg around Grey's waist. "Your nerve is very arousing." She smirked evilly at him as she locked his body to hers with her legs. If he was going to pin her, he wasn't going anywhere either. And while he held her still, the sharp heels of her boots were digging deeply into the muscles of his back.

As he felt the heels of her boots dig into his back and Poe's words caress more than his ears, he was still set on the original goal. Grabbing the knife out of her hand he threw it up and out of the pit. One blade was easier to handle than two, especially if it was his.

After he had completed that task he looked back down at the fireball underneath him and grunted, the pain of those heels more than he might have given them credit for if they were not currently embedded into his back.

Grabbing her wrists again he pulled them up above her head and used on of his larger hands to hold them while his other hand ran from her thigh to her calf and pulled the heels even so sightly out of his back as he pressed forward and let them pin the softer flesh of his ass instead.

"I don't think aroused is the word Darling", he lied through his teeth as he looked down at her with menace. "I'm not one of your clients, so feel free to drop the act because its getting you no where." A half true statement.

Add the hands above her head and Poe was just about in an ideal situation. It didn't surprise her though, that he thought she was putting on an act. Hell, she didn't even know what was going on with her at this point in time. She had never been anything more than repulsed by a man before in her life. And now this man had her pinned to the cold, hard earth and she was about read to rip off his clothes instead of his dick. Her blood was running cold thanks to his attitude. But that same attitude was making fire course through her veins. And now her heels were digging into an ass that she would love to get her hands on.

Twisting, slightly, Poe decided that having her hands restrained was just not getting her anywhere. So while his hand traveling down her leg sent shivers down her spine, Poe wrenched her hands from under his and rolled to the side, snatching his knife and crouching in a dfensive position against the dirt wall. His blade was smaller than hers, the perfect size to spin across her palm, and she traced it from the curve of her throat to the top of her thigh and back again as she watched him.

"Pobresito! You actually think that I would waste an act on you? Mijo, men come to me for a challenge. They want to think they can get a rise out of someone that no man has ever gotten a rise out of-" She liked the blade of his knife, " So forgive me, me amo, but you're just not worth the energy."

As she got herself out from underneath him and grabbed his knife, the wriggling just made Grey's body betray him further, but he wasn't about to let that incapacitate him like it likely did others.

Watching her with his knife, he was waiting for the correct moment, but was a little distracted by how much he'd rather the point of that knife be his hand instead. Shaking his head lightly he chuckled as he grabbed the inside blade of the knife, letting it cut into his hand as he gave it a half twist, knowing that he only sharpened one side of it for occasions just like this one.

As soon as he got it in his hand it was throw up and out of the pit as well, but this time his bleeding hand came down around her throat. He has never been one to excel in foreign languages and Spanish certain was on that list, but he certainly thought he got the just of what she had just said. And he couldn't say it didn't egg him on just a little bit to be turned down by someone he was all too sure he didn't want.

The chuckled continued, but it was an angry one and there was no doubting it by its tone. "Honey, if they didn't get a rise out of you then they were complete morons, because you look like a bitch in heat to me." Laughing he dared not thing what his mother would have said hearing that leave his mouth, as he pushed her back and stood up.

She hadn't expected him to grab the blade of a sharpened knife. And the action only furthered her convictions that this man had no common sense whatsoever. Still, she had to admit he had balls. And she had to admit he had other rather impressive qualities as well... of course, her impressions were being slightly swayed by the fact that she had adrenaline pumping through her veins... and the fact that the blood on her throat was causing juices to flow a little lower in her anatomy... She could smell the metallic tang of his life-force- feel it beating from his palm to the rhythm of his pulse- and it was driving her insane. With all the thoughts running through her head in that moment, his "bitch in heat" comment was pretty accurate.

Digging her nails into the skin of the wrist at her throat, Poe buried her other hand in Grey's hair and used the hold to pul his face closer to hers. She could feel her nails break his skin as she whispered over his lips. And she could feel the effect she had on his body, even as they struggled with despising each other. "Grey, Solamente un chucho de bordear-persecución podría oler una perra en calor." Digging her nails further into his flesh, Poe bit her lip and pulled twisted her hand in his hair- hard.

As this woman pulled Grey closer, again ripping into his flesh. Grey's mind reeled at how much nerve she had and that she really was one crazy bitch, but a little past that it was also admiring her.

The words leaving her mouth might as well have been some lost language of the ancient world. For all Grey knew she could have been calling his mother a whore and his father a rapist, though he had a distinct impression that she was bad mouthing him directly, but for some reason at that moment in time he just didn't care. Likely because it had been quite some time, and also because no woman had ever talked to him like she was. Not that every woman had been pro-Grey all of his life, no that wasn't near the truth, but no woman had physically fought him about it before. Well excluding English, but she was basically his sister... which was probably what Grey found weird about her now fucking his brother.

Dropping his hand from her throat, he still felt the pain from her other hand which was in his hair, but there was more driving force behind what he was about to do. Wrapping an arm around her back, he grunted as he propelled himself upward, taking him with her. When he was on his feet, he immediately trust her using the full of his body against the pit's wall. "Is this what you want?" he said as he caught her mouth with his own.

It was easy to settle back against the wall, knees to her chest and head resting against the packed dirt. She was wary... she was alert to every noise coming from outside the little world inside their little ditch... and she was also alert to the warmth of Grey's- no- Bobby's body next to hers. She'd never really adjusted to the climate of Sundance... after the warm air of L.A. the upper-sixties temperatures in May were still cold to her. Bobby was the first man she didn't cringe being around... that thought made her all the more wary... She felt like hitting herself. For once when couldn't she let her guard down just the smallest bit?

"Crazy, knife-wielding Spaniard just about sums it up really... How else would I earn the name Poe if I wasn't insane and blood-hungry, eh?" She quirked one defined black brow at him, her red lips, softened by the kissing they'd so recently engaged in, tipped up at the corners. "I have no family, besides a couple of the girls at the Palace, I have no origins prior to my street life in Los Angeles-" She spat the name of the town that had caused her so much pain- "I won't let anyone love me because I have no love to give them in return-" He voice grew icier, more pained as she continued and she found herself turning towards Bobby, one shoulder resting against the wall and a brutally honest look in her coal-black eyes.

"Bobby, I was raised as a member of the most feared gang in all of California... I was raised to use my body to infiltrate its hierarchy- to control the man who controlled it all. My body was a target for every damn dick on the streets. And all I was supposed to do was be the pretty little bruja with the tight jeans and the bast ass on the block... I was used... I am used... Does that explain to you who andwhat I am?" Her brow creased as she waited for his reply. He could make what he wanted to of that confession but the truth was, she had nothing left to offer anyone besides what she'd be raised for: a good fuck.

Grey watched her speak, each expression and syllable seeming like it was an entire war that was still being fought. He honestly couldn't pretend to know what had happened to her, nor could he console her and she he understood.... he didn't. If anything his life had been dull. He had a good group of friends in High School, he had dated here and there. Certainly he had his heart broken on a couple of occasions and the one place he had always wanted to get away from was now the only place in the world he belonged. It wasn't a sob story though, if anything it would have been a Disney film, whereas her story read more along the type the wasn't popular but won Oscars.

What he did know and could say was what he would have said to anyone. "What you are now and what you choose to do now, has nothing to do with what they made you. It sounds to me like you won't let yourself off of the line that was drawn for you." As he spoke, Grey knew the words coming out of his mouth were generic. He didn't think she was going to take him seriously when everything he was saying could have been said by anyone, but the true was that he meant every word and didn't care that he might look like a boy scout. All he knew was that for some dumb reason, he didn't really care who she had been.

"Honestly, I have no idea what you've been through, my life was pretty easy in comparison. Hell, unlike most people I still have the resemblance of a family around me. Yeah I lost my parents, but who didn't? I got bullied a bit when I went to High School, but nothing bad... I won a State Volleyball Title... I was on the honour roll, and still managed to date... I got into Yale in the English department... Yeah I don't get to be a writer now, but so what? I've had it pretty easy, and I know that. What I do know is that no one cares about any of it. All that people know and care about is what I've done at the farm... bad, good, indifferent... that's all they care to know.

"I can't imagine what your life was like before everything, but what life is now for you is what you make it. I don't care that someone wanted you to fuck your way to the top of some gang." He cringed as the words left his mouth not having meant how that sounded, "I mean... I do care about that... but it's no who you are. I want to know what you like to do, what you want this life to be, your hopes your dreams... God I sound like a chick." Laughing he rubbed his brow slightly wishing he could be a bit more elegant with his tongue instead of just with his pen.

Poe found herself slipping into her coat, standing, and pacing the floor of the pit. She didn't have far to walk, especially having such long legs, and the to an onlooker, it was sure to have a caged-animal effect. Of course, oftentimes, that's how she felt. She was raw and wild. Sure, she had a sensitive side... people very rarely saw it but it was there... it was just that, more often than not, the rough, the vengeful, overpowered any softness that might be trying to claw it's way to the surface. And she liked that power. She liked the burn it caused in her chest, like a fine whiskey, warming the cold and barren place where her heart used to be.

She enjoyed causing pain- enjoyed the red haze that sharpened her vision when someone pushed her buttons wrong or made the mistake of hurting someone she loved. She enjoyed having people cross to the other side of the street when she stalked past in her black leather boots. And she enjoyed the feeling of blood between her fingers when some maggot got what he deserved. Did that make her what everyone called her? Genius in all of her wickedness... but more than a bit touched in the head. Incapable of love and more than capable of killing a man with her bare hands... in more ways than one. Poe could feel her brow furrowing with every step she took- with every word that came out of Bobby's mouth. He was seemed so sure that she could be something other than what she was. But this had been beaten into her since the day she was found on that Los Angeles doorstep. Stopping she looked down at the man on the ground, knowing that she would normally be thinking of that as a demeaning position... but she wanted him to see her. She wasn't trying to look down at him. But she wanted him to look up at her and see what she thought of herself.

"I don't know how to be something I'm not. I have that softer side.... I have that warm and passionate side.... but the insanity... the blood-lust... that's not an act..." She shoved a trembling hand through her hair, rough enough to cause little shots of pain where it pulled at her scalp. "That's as more a part of me than the fire and the passion that you've seen. I know how to use my body to cause pleasure and pain and I'm good at it. And I like it... well... I don't like men.... they're scum, quite honestly and I've never liked being with them... until you met me blow for blow and kiss for kiss... That's a first for me, Bobby." Plopping down on the ground, Poe let out a long, weary sigh. "Tell me what I'm supposed to tell you. Because you're asking about hopes and dreams... and I just don't have any..."

When Poe got up and started pacing, Grey watched her take every step quietly. To him Poe looked like a drug addict and in in the way utterly used, complete waste of space way. Instead she looked like a person with an 'itch'; something that they didn't need, but sure as hell felt they did. She looked like that 'itch' had been put there and not by the lightest of means, but instead by a strong tongue and a worse hand. The saddest part in Grey's eyes though, was the fact that she was standing there telling him there was nothing than what she was in her.

For some reason he didn't believe it; maybe it was the humanitarian in him or the inner child that thought they could make the world better or maybe it was a gut instinct. Either way he didn't think that the shell of a person now sitting beside him, was all that she was. He believed she thought that, but he certainly didn't.

He wasn't about to push on with telling her what she could be though, he wasn't so naive to not see that she didn't believe him and wouldn't. No he saw it, and he didn't feel the need to hit his head against a brick wall when nothing would change. Instead he laughed lightly and said, "Well isn't that interesting, well I've never been with or even wanted to be with one of you girls in my life... So there a first for both of us. Now as for having no hopes or dreams, I not only find that said, but I would also call it bullshit." Shaking his head, he continued, "Even the most insane serial killer has hopes and dreams. They tend to be of killing certain people or taking over the world, but they still have them. So the fact that you say you don't have any just proved my point that you're letting people that are dead now still live your life."

She could feel her breathing speed as each word came from that glorious mouth. She felt her eyes spark and her jaw harden and her fingers curl so tightly into fists that she felt the blood well up under her fingernails. There was the red haze. There was the pound in her veins telling her to get close then shove a knife between his ribs... And she wanted to act on it so badly. But her knife was on the ground above their heads and he was pretty damn good with his hands. But his current position, leaning against the wall just so.... all she had to do-

Poe lunged. She felt her hands wrap around the column of his throat, pull back, and slam his head into the wall of earth behind him. At the same time, her knees pinned his arms to the ground, preventing the retaliation that was sure to come next. As his skull made hard contact with the packed dirt, Poe growled, low and feral in the back of her throat.

"You think you know? You think you can tell me who the hell is running my life? What kind of ghosts do you have, Farm Boy?" Her voice dripped with disdain as she spat the words into his face, her hands tightening slowly and steadily around his neck. "What kind of spirits have haunted your life of honor rolls and cute, little girlfriends and fucking YALE.

You don't know shit, you bastard.

Grey could not say he was surprised as his head smashed against the pit's wall behind him. He was arrogant, and cocky and well aware of those facts. Another side of him that he was aware of was his furious temper, and that's what she ignited after he had lit hers, which was obvious by the current position. As she screamed in his face, her hot breath upon his cheek, he growled, "So we are going to do this again? Awesome." Her knees may have had his arms under control, but that wasn't going to cut it. Not when she weight a good Stone less than he did. Gathering his legs quickly under himself he push up and forward, literally removing her from him.

Standing he spoke looking down at her, "I don't have any ghosts that I live with, because I don't let other's control me. I mya not understnad your story, but I sure as hell know that you choose to live the life your livign and never has that been as true as it is now." He was standing there holding back the urge to backhand her. He had never hit someone unless they were hitting him, but that was about the last string of control her had while he was in such a state. There was no doubt that the blood was pumping through his body and his adrenaline was soaring. Just standing there anyone could see his muscles clenching and hardening as the adrenaline swept through and made sure he was ready to react.

Poe felt all the air slam out of her lungs as she hit the ground- probably even harder than his head had hit the wall. Damn it... she thought. Sure, she could do things with her body that no other woman could, but this man still had a good sixty pounds of pure muscle to his advantage and she couldn't bring herself to use some of her more crippling moves on that wonderful body of his. So she lay there, gasping for air as he ranted and raved above her. If anything, his blow had knocked some God-damned sense into her. What was she thinking? The only reason she'd attacked him had been because, somewhere, deep in her black little soul, she knew he was right. And she didn't want him to be. Because if he really was right, that meant that she was a coward... worse than a coward... she was a fake and a follower and didn't have a damn mind of her own.

She felt like crying again. Damn this man for making her so weak! He had some good points, saw more deeply into her soul than even Reina or Marica had. But that wasn't something she wanted. Slowly, looking broken and torn, Poe stood to her full height, straightening her shoulders and looking Grey dead in the eye. Her voice was calm- trembling slightly from the lack of oxygen in her lungs, but void of any and all emotion- so very different from the loud and angry voice of Grey.

"So I have problems. And thanks to a specific Farm Boy, I now know what they are. I'll have to work on that, won't I?"

Grey couldn't help but feeling like an ass-hole as she raked over him with her last comment. There were many things that were not perfect about Grey, and many of which he could name. One thing that he could be was preachy, he always had been. To his brother, to English... that was likely what made it so easy for him to run a house that was for the most part comprised of those under the age of twelve. Of course there were adults in the house as well but they were likely 10% of the total number of people the farm was home to.

For some reason kids seemed to like being around Grey, likely because he was strict but fair, something they needed now that their parents weren't around. It was also likely the reason most left when they hit puberty though, because Grey didn't except kids breaking the rules of the farm. So they left, they usually came back for visits, but for the most part they went into the city where they could live without so many rules. It was likely a good thing anyhow because Grey doubted his temper could stand some of the antics of hormonal little flakes.

Breathing out light he relaxed, some what, "Look I didn't mean to drill you on it or anything, I just don't like when people cut themselves short. Oh, and not hitting me would also be nice."

Poe simply stood there, her face icy, her eyes shooting daggers strait into Grey's forehead. There he was, standing no more than three feet away from her in this God-forsaken pit and possessing the gall to point out each and everyone of her flaws and not even bothering to balance them out with a few of his own. There was a fair amount of blood under her fingernails now, flowing strongly thanks to the race of her pulse. And all she could do was let her palms bleed, let the heat of her life-force try to thaw the cold abyss that seemed to take up every inch of space in her chest.

"Bobby," she whispered quietly as she took a step towards him, "I understand that I have flaws. Now that you've been so kind as to point them out to me, I know what I need to work on. But you know what? Your self-righteous bullshit is really grating on my nerves..." Cocking her head to the side, Poe looked straight into Grey's eyes, sparks flying from her deep black to his dazzling blue. "If you're so displeased by people cutting themselves short, then why don't you take a bit of your own wisdom and take a deep look at yourself. Why is it that someone so sure, so sexy, and so intellegent lets someone else take charge of things and retreats to a farm to lick the wounds the world has given him? Why do you let Wolf control you, Bobby? You're just as capable as he is." Tipping her head to the opposite side, Poe smirked at Grey. "Maybe you should sleep on the tought..."

And after her boot slammed into his jaw, she watched him crumple to the ground.

Well that was a slice of pie that Grey had been served on a couple occasions and he didn't like the taste of it in the least. He didn't like to admit it, but Grey was scared of running a tribe, that's why he had given the reins over so easily. The only reason he had kept hold of the farm was that he wouldn't let a stranger have their way with it. It was what he owed his father and it was a debt he intended on paying for the rest of his life. Grey had always been a dutiful son, but he had always disliked that he felt tied to the farm. It was like a creature that needed blood sweat and tears, but there was always a feeling that it needed more and more.

As Poe's boot came to find it's way to Grey's temple, he did fall to the ground, but this time he stayed there. He wasn't out but the light above the pit was blurry and Grey was just done with fighting. There was no point and he didn't understand why he was fighting so hard for a person that didn't seem to want to fight for themselves.

Laying there, he stretched out having no desire to get up at the moment, but he did decide to open his mouth again. "It's a much harder task to be responsible for everyone than to be the understudy." Closing his eyes, he rubbed his forehead and said, "Can we be done now, I'm tired of fighting and I'm not sure why we are fighting anymore."

Thank God he seemed to be out of it... maybe not unconscious but not present enough to see the tears welling up in her eyes for the third time today. He'd gone down like a rock. And her heart had plummeted in her chest at the same speed or faster. Now, as she slowly slid her back don to the wall next to his head, pulling her knees to her chest, yet again, and watching him carefully to be sure he was ok, Poe let the tears fall. It's a much harder task to be responsible for everyone than to be the understudy... That wasn't the first wise thing he'd said all day... Now she felt horrible... and with him so obviously oblivious to her actions, she was free to cry in earnest. At least he had the courage to be the understudy. Poe was a killer. She was a guard dog... She loved Reina. She loved Prissy... but was it possible that she really was just wasting away? Could she really be something more?

Leaning against the wall, Poe reached tentatively out and began running her fingers softly through Grey's hair. Her voice was thick with tears, but hopefully he didn't hear them when she whispered, "Maybe I'm fighting you because it's easier to fight you than to fight my insecurities... But, yes... we can be done for now, Bobby..."
