Week Fifteen-Monday morning

Who: Kahea and Gent
Where: Gent's boat/forest heading into town
When: Early Monday morning
What: Gent wants to escort Kahea into town but Kahea is stubborn

Kahea woke up Monday morning with an over whelming sense of satisfaction and a new found determination. The day before she had been able to repair all the things that Anela had torn up. She had a few pokes and pricks in her fingers, and her stitches weren't 100% perfect, but they would hold and they were fixed. Now she was determined to go out and explore Sundance. Maybe she could find someone who had seen or heard of her brother and his group, even if Jed hadn't been any help.

She started packing her medium bag, thinking that she didn't need all of her things for the trip: just a few clothes, what was left of her food, some trading things, her most valuables, and of course her all her weapons.

She was just finishing re-organizing the things she was leaving behind, and tidying up the room when Gent came in. "Morning G. I finished the stitching, it's over on the chair over there. I hope you don't mind me leaving the rest of my things here, but I'm headed into town today, and I really don't feel like lugging all of them with me. It should only be a few days."

She gave him a sweet, genuine smile as she grabbed her small pouch, which held her most valued things, and wrapped it around her neck.

Gent had wakened that morning with the intention of laying about and relaxing all day planted in the foremost part of his brain. He'd heard Kahea moving about and decided to extend an invitation to her to do the same. Now here he was, standing in his worn out pj pants and a white t-shirt, watching Kahea pack her bags to go into town. Right. Like that was going to happen. A huge smile spread over his face and he stood straight in the doorway, blocking any space where she might be able to go past him.

"Goin' into town are yah? NIce one." He chuckled. "I didn't figure yah tah be a joker this early in thah mornin."

Kahea gave him a puzzled look. Joker? Did he really think she was joking about this? The thought was so cute it made her outwardly smile. "Haha, yeah. Me. Joke. After the trouble I've already caused with my deception? Now who's being funny G?"

She stopped her pattering to look at him fully. He had somehow managed to take up the entire door, fill every inch of it; and if she were to take a wild guess, she'd bet she couldn't so much as budge him without pulling out some cheap shots or weapons out on him. Which of coarse she wouldn't do.

"Okay, Gent, I'm serious. I need to go into the town and see if I can find any info on my brother," a pleading look in her eyes.

Ok, so she was serious. That didn't change his mind about her ideas. She was new to Sundance. She didn't know the way things were around here. A little thing like herself shouldn't be wandering around alone, period, much less right after the end of an all out Tribal War. The smile that had lit up his face only moments before fell flat and his entire body tensed as she cast her pleading gaze at him. His voice, normally smooth and low, sounded a bit different when he spoke again- edged with something like paternal care... the protective instinct that Gent was beginning to associate this little package of Trouble with.

"Kahea, you are not going out into the town. Maybe in a few days, things will ccalm down, but for naw, sugah, you have tah stay put. Drifters have been causin' enuff trouble around here lately, even if they didn't have top secret affairs associated with'em. The town just came to terms with a war, sweetie. There's no way I'm letting you out into the leftovers." He crossed his arms in fron t of his chest, filling the doorway evven more securely and watching her carefully. The conniving little sprite was sure to try something.

Kahea frowned. This was not going over the way she wanted. Think, girl, think. Anela walked up to Gent and started rubbing up against his legs, meowing and purring while she did it. That's it! Thanks fur ball.

"Well, Gent, what if you came with me? I'm sure with you escorting me around, no one would have any qualms with me being in town and asking questions, now would they? Plus, you could make sure no harm came to me. What do you say?" She put on her sweet, innocent, but usually up to no good-but they don't know that smile.

Gent sighed, ran his hand over the short crop of his hair, and looked down at Kahea. She was a cute little weasel, she was... How in the world was he ever goin' to keep up with her? She was already screwin' around with his head. She was like a kitten that had a tendency to get into trouble with big, ferocious, rabies-infected dogs... And he was the big, brown, friendly guy in the alley, tomcat that had to go, claw her out of her situations. Now she wanted to go out and wander the town and he was absolutely positive that if he let her do that she'd get herself into all sorts of messes. After a moment of contemplation, Gent braced his arms on either side of the door and leaned heavily on them.

"Ok, these're mah rules if I decide to let you outta here. And yah have tah agree to follow them or I'll keep yah locked in tha engine room. Rule Numbah One: You do nah get outta my sight. Rule Numbah Two: You do nah talk to anyone until I give my approval. There are people in this town that'd rathah kill yah than talk to yah. And Rule Numbah Three: You keep that dust bunny'a yers hidden in yer bag or yer shirt. You'll need her instincts in this town. And it'll be good tah have a weapon with yah as well..." He frowned slightly as he thought o the dangers pervading Sundance these days. Even the carefree life of the River Runners was going tah hell...

I reference to her weapons, Kahea subconsciously fingered her dagger that she had strapped to her left wrist. Heh, like I would ever go anywhere without this at least? "Gent, of coarse I'm bringing my weapons. I don't ever go anywhere with out them, m'dear. And as for Anela, she'll go where ever you deem is necessary for her safety." Kahea kept her smile and her up beat tone.

"And I promise I won't talk to anyone with out pre-approving them through you first. As far as rule number one is concerned, I don't even see why you would deem that important to mention because I asked you to help me, so why would I leave you? That's just silly." She let go a "care-free" laugh. "Sounds to me that someone is a bit paranoid." Kahea kept a playful smirk on her face and shook her head in mock disappointment. She hoped that all this "playing nice" would let him easy up a bit, and let her carry out her escape that she was concocting behind those innocent light brown eyes.
