When she'd risen early in the morning, Ruby had been concerned that the day before was all a dream. But it wasn't. Bear's words still rang clear and true in her head. I love you and I want to be with you. It was, needless to say, something for her to be very happy about. It wasn't every day that you found that someone special to love who loved you back. Especially in a world like theirs. She was extremely lucky and extremely fortunate to have found that person for herself. Her happiness showed in the smile that seemed like it couldn't disappear from her features. Not that there was a thing wrong with that. Tink had noticed that smile the moment Ruby had come home and had immediately asked the question that was weighing on her mind. Had Bear told her that he liked her? Had he kissed her? The answer to both questions had been a yes. Apparently, Tink's matchmaking had paid off. Not that she was going to tell anyone that. It was a secret victory!
Ruby hadn't had much to do in the morning, just cleaning and bits of busywork. But early in the afternoon someone came to tell her that someone had hurt themselves in the garden. Cut themselves on a tool. Dutiful as always, she brought her first aid kit. In it there was every bit of medical supplies that she had that could be used on a cut. On the more severe side, there was thread and a needle for stitches. On the less severe side, there was rubbing alcohol and, of course, bandages. It turned out that stitches were necessary, though the cut wasn't extremely deep. Thankfully enough, it was a rather clean cut, so all she had to do was clean off the blood and numb up the spot before putting the stitches in. "Be more careful next time, alright?" she said, covering the stitches with the protective tape to help keep them closed. The young man nodded to her, thanking her. But it was her job, she didn't need to be thanked.
Figuring that it was better than going back to her treehouse, Ruby found a good spot in the gardens to sit down. She set down her kit and just sat down to relax. If anyone happened by, she'd be more than happy to talk to them. But for the moment, she just enjoyed the peace and quiet.
