Saturday: Mid afternoonish, Week Fourteen.

Who: OPEN to ANYONE to hears her screams just tumble on in!
What: Kahea comes across Belle Fourche and a little trouble....
When: Saturday Week Fourteen
Where: Belle Fourche River and MOVED to Gent's River Boat.
Rating: PG-13 for Language and situation
Status: IN PROGRESS and STILL OPEN! ^.^

Kahea shifted the sacks on her back. Even though the sun wasn’t as hot as Texas or California, it still made her sweat, making her load just a little bit more uncomfortable at times. Anela was running in between her feet again, and almost caused her to trip a few times. “Anela, enough! I know you’re hungry, but we can’t eat now, we have to wait at least until sundown. Save food, remember?” Anela looked up at her with her emerald green eyes and mewed. Kahea stuck her tongue out at her and kept walking. She fought the urge to pop an ear bud into one ear and listen to her iPod, but she needed to conserve the power as much as possible. Instead she lost herself in thought, trying to remember what she had been told at her last two “city” stops. The first one, a source told her that there had been no military forces coming through that town ever. But they had heard a rumor of a unit of some sort up in Wyoming somewhere. “Oh, where am I now?” she had asked the man. “What remains of Salt Lake City, Utah.” How she came to Utah in the first place, she had no idea. Her initial direction was north, to Washington, but little by little she strayed east and was somehow lucky enough to come across some viable information about her brother. Her sense of direction sucked, and she knew it, so from then on she took better care to pay attention to the direction of the sun and head directly the way she was told to go to find the next town who had rumored to have a “run-in” with a military unit of some kind. In that town, what remained of Casper, Wyoming, she asked questions again about possible military forces and described her brother’s features. This is where she had received her first inch of real hope in years of wandering and looking. They told her about a small unit of about four men who came through and stayed a few days in the town and also tried to “recruit” some of the men in town to join them for some kind of an uprising against something or someone. They didn’t get anyone to go with them but Kahea was told that the man fitting her description carried with him a picture that he was always looking at. That’s when Kahea got brave and took out her iPod to show them the picture of her brother so that she could be 100% sure it was him. The people in the small building, used to be hospital, all nodded in agreement that one of those men was her brother. “Where had they come from?" She asked. If she could retrace his steps, she just might discover where he was going. “I think they came down from Sundance,” spoke up one young woman. “I think I overheard one of them saying something about Sundance.” “Where is that?”

Now she was headed to Sundance. And hopefully she was in the right direction.

Kahea and Anela walked on for an hour and a half more; Kahea taking a few swigs from her leather skin bottle that she had traded a few forks and spoons for on one of her first encounters. It held more water in it than any plastic water bottle could, and it was perfect for long journeys, like hers. Every now and then she’d squirt some at Anela, knowing that the kit needed water too. At one point Anela stopped dead in her tracks and picked up her ears, twitching them every now and then. “Really? Is there really?” Kahea put her nose to the wind and whiffed. “Ah! There is!” A huge smile came across her face as she picked Anela up and took off running in the direction of the heavenly smell. Sure enough, after about five minutes of running, Kahea came across a river. “WATER!” Kahea hadn’t swum in a whole month in a half, and her shakes where getting to a point that she could barely stay quiet while hunting. She quickly and carefully checked her surroundings before changing into her swimsuit that she had to have carrying with her. She then stashed her sacks behind some brush and fallen tree branches and slowly walked into the water. She wanted to relish this feeling.

Anela stayed out of the water and watched from the river bank instead. Kahea slowly dipped all the way in and emerged with a sigh. The water wasn’t as blue as Key West, Hawaii, or San Diego but after four years, whatever water she could get, she took and appreciated. She swam around for about ten more minutes until she heard Anela screeching out to her; a warning, she had heard or smelled something or someone. Kahea slowed walked back out of the river, moving her dagger from her ankle strap to behind her in her bathing suit bottoms.

Just as she fully emerged from the water, three men came out of the wood around it, in an attack type formation. “Well, what do we have here? You look pretty sweet girly? You lonely?” Kahea kept the river to her back and her stance natural but prepared. Her eyes darted between the three men, sizing them up. The one who spoke to her was of medium build, reminding her of a guy she face-planted in high school. The other two were both rugged looking, and a bit more muscular than the first guy, but nothing she couldn’t handle, one on one. Then her memory clicked. She had seen these guys in Casper. Had they followed her this whole time and she never knew it? Or had they ran ahead of her and met up with her here? Doesn’t matter now, what matters is that they were between her and her colt pistol. “Hey guys. Didn’t I see you in Casper? Did you decide to escort me all the way to Sundance? I think that is very sweet but you see…” The one on her left lunged and she dodged just in time to have him miss and start falling face first in the dirt. To make the fall that must better, Kahea planted an elbow square in his back and turned around in time to find his muscle twin coming at her next, which he met a jaw full of her fist and followed by his ear boxed by her elbow. She pulled her dagger from her back and slashed it forward to the smaller guy when he tried to lunge next. But it was a blow to her back that caught her off guard and sent her falling to the ground. She caught herself on her elbows before her face hit the dirt but a rough hand quickly grabbed her and turned her over, and a heavy male weight was placed on her stomach, and pinning her arms to her side.

“You may not be lonely, but we sure the heck are!” “NO!” Kahea thrashed as hard as she could and slammed both her knees into the back of the filthy man, but they were soon held down by one of the other men. “Damn you! Stop! Stop! This isn’t going to do anything! I can trade things with you! Valuable things! In fact, you can take it all! Just LET ME GO!!” All three chuckled maniacally. “All we want is something that’s not in your nap sacks girly. And for you to be figh’n so much, I be guess’n you be a virgin?” “Screw you!” Kahea spat back. “Well boys, it be our lucky day! We got ourselves a real gem here! Now let me first! I saw her first and it was my idea to follow her here!” There was a zip and a ruffling of clothing and Kahea did not want to look up at it. She thrashed harder and let out an ear piercing scream.

The men laughed again. “What was that for? “Who’s going to hear you out here?”

“Me!”

Gent emerged from the water behind a rather rough looking son of a bitch, and pulled a nasty-looking filleting knife from the waste band of his shorts, and stood with his bare, bronze chest shining in the sunlight. Two of these men were muscled, one a bit on the puny side, and Gent puffed up his beautifully muscled chest, ensuring that they saw they were no match for him... There was no need for them to know he had no formal training. He'd been in enough bar-room brawls to know how to win a fight outnumbered.

"I'll hear her. Along with about twelve othah men that live on the boats nearby. You men sure you wanna start this kinda jazz?" He spun his knife between his fingers, sure to put a heavy dose of menace in his Cajun-accented words. "The last man who tried to harm a lady in my presence ended up with his tongue up his behind." His lips curved into an evil grin. Ass would have been a bit more intimidating, he was sure, but judging from the looks on the men's faces, it wasn't needed. And besides, he never cursed in front of a woman. He took a feline step forward, no sound coming from him as he brought his knife to the throat of the man that sat atop the little lady. The whisper he sent from his lips made the brute whimper, his disgusting bulk cowering at the thing he threatened next. He stood, aware of the two other swine and their cowardice, the way they stayed back in fear of the big black man.

"Now, unless you three want to know how my fish feel after I catch them-" He twirled his knife, close to the leader's ear , "I'd get outta town." He let his knife slip down the man's ear, the line of blood and the man's squeal reaching his senses at the same time. He almost laughed as all three men ran for the trees, but the girl on the ground most likely wouldn't appreciate that. He knelt next her and held out a tentative hand. She seemed to be in shock, and he could smell blood. He looked her over, checking to see where she was bleeding and if she was alright.

What the heck had just happened? Kahea was just mentally preparing herself for the worst, again, when this beautifully built dark angel of a man emerges out of the water like a holy apperation, and scares the three would-be-rapists shitless.

Now she just stared at the welcoming, slightly scarred up, extended hand. It took a few seconds for her mind to start back up again, and when it did, she blinked and realized that he wasn't going to harm her. And that her daggar was missing.

"Shit!" She jumped up and looked around, much to the dismay of her head. She spotted the 6 1/2" about a foot away and bent to pick it up. That's when she felt the blood, dripping down her back.

Gent backed up to keep from gettin hit as she shot to her feet. Judging from the small pool of blood that she left on the ground, that was probably not the safest thing to do, but he wasn't going to touch her while she was in such a state. She'd probably hurt herself trying to rip his eyes out, still afraid from what she had just experienced. She really was a tiny little thing, he noted as she spun precariously on her toes, looking for something she must have dropped. When she bent over to pick up a glint of steel in the grass, the amount of blood that trickled down her bare back shocked him. She must not have felt how deep the wound was, or she surely would have had the sense to stay still. She wasn't going to be able to stay upright much longer as it was. She paused, mid-reach, and Gent thought she must have finally noticed the blood.

"Are you okay, Little Miss?" He took a tentative step towards her, his arms out in case she fell.

Was she okay? Funny. He must've seen the gash on her back, but in all honesty she couldn't feel a thing at the moment. She turned to face him; big mistake.

"I'm... fine.." Kahea tired to say while maintaining her stature and balance.

Lack of food, hydration, sleep and the sudden increase in stress all finally decided to catch up with her. Great, perfect timing.

Gent managed not to give into his protective instincts and rush over to her as he watched all of the blood drain from the girls face. If she could see how pale she was, she wouldn't have said she was fine. 'She must be a drifter,' he thought, as her took another slow step towards her. He could see her packs and some little gray, dust-bunny-looking thing in between the gaps in some brush a few yards away, could here the little fuzz-ball mewing. But her brought his attention back to the little thing's mistress as she swayed on her feet.
"Yah sure? Yah lookin a bit tipsy, theh."

Did Kahea hear a bit of a Cajun accent in his voice? If she could just focus her mind and stop seeing double...

Kahea felt herself swaying, but refused to give into it. She shook her to try and concetrate better. Now what did she need? She needs.. Answer, answer him, he's coming closer. Speak Kahea, speak.

"I'm... fy... just..haf...ta..." That's when everything went black, and all that was heard was the faint sound of Anela's mewing off in the distance until there was finally nothing.

The dust bunny started mewing in earnest as the little lady began crumpling towards the ground. Gent stepped forward more quickly this time, his long legs putting his arms beneath her slight figure before it hit the dirt. He cradles her lightly, her tiny body a feather-weight in his arms. If he wasn't trying to win over Windchaser, he'd offer this little thing a nice tunble, but now wasn't the time. Holding the girl to his chest with one arm, Gent brought his fingers to his lips and whistled, waiting to hear the light splash of Odile hitting the water and cat-paddling towards him. The soggy Persian reached the their side of the shore just as Gent was situating himself and the girl into the water.

"Stay here with her stuff, Odile. I 'spect the dust-bunny'll wanna come along. I'll be back in a minute."

Gent quirked a brow and waited for the little grey blur to come out of the brush. It darted around Odile, hissing lightly at the larger, wetter feline, and perched on the shore while Gent lay on his back in the water, the woman atop him, her face as far from the water as he could keep it. The dust-bunny krept onto her chest, out of the water but as far away from the dark hand that held her body atop Gent's as it could possible manage. Once it seemed settled, he kicked off of the bank and used his legs to propel himself to his Le Couer. She was easy to hoist aboard, light even when she was soaked. He had her settled on her stomach on the couch less than five minutes after he'd pushed off from the opposite bank, and left her alone only long enough to get his first aid kit from his bathroom. He approached her with gauze, medical tape, peroxide, and a curved needle and thread. The dust-bunny was growling at him, sitting on the back of the couch and hovering like a mother hen as he hunched down and began cleaning the wound. he'd drive the boat over to get her things as soon as he was done, but the way the dust-bunny was eyeing him, it wasn't going to let him do what he needed to.

Gent was right. Fifteen minutes later, Gent walked up to the deck to cross the river, proud of the three stitches he'd put in the girls back, but sporting scratches and bites from one very protective and evil dust-bunny. Laughing quietly to himself as he directed Le Couer towards the girls things, Gent thought, 'You know the world's changed when ladies carry knives and dust-bunnies are on the offensive...'

Kahea was dreaming again; she had to be, she was in San Diego again. Back before the virus and before her parents' death. But it wasn't before her life was turned upside down.

No, she was back on THAT night, sitting, waiting for her brother after dance practice. "I'm just going to stay here. I'm not going to walk home, just stay right here and I'll be fine."

But the scene quickly shifted to THAT alley way and Kahea could hear the echoing footsteps and whispers. "Don't turn around. They're not there. Wake up K. Wake up."

She didn't have to turn around, they were right in front of her. The two shadowy figures that she always dreaded seeing in her dreams. She turned around to avoid them; no use. They were there, but closer this time. Kahea could just barely make out their facial features now.

"No. Go away."

Don't beg. Kahea learned the hard way what begging did; never beg.

"Wake up."

They were closer now. Kahea could smell the stench of weed and alcohol radiating from their god awful bodies, and she could hear their cat-calls more clearly now. Why can't I move? Run, please just run! Wake up!

"Hey there prima ballerina!"

WAKE UP NOW!

Kahea's scream caught in her throat as she shot up from her current lain position. She was finally wake, and now suddenly in excruciating pain.

Gent was in the process of running his houseboat up next to the opposite bank of the Belle Fourche. Odile still sat motionless, looking rather bored, next to the bushes and the little traveler's things. Just as he began to step onto the grass, a splitting scream pierced the air and he spun on his heels, running down the steps to his sitting room and stopping dead when he saw the lady on his couch, the blanket thrown off, the stitches torn, the dust bunny poufed to twice it's normal size, and a look of such terror on the lady's face that he himself almost wanted to shiver. He really shouldn't touch her while she was in such a state, but she was doing so much damage to her back that he sped across the room and put his hands on her shoulders, pushing her into the couch and successfully restraining her tiny, flailing frame.

"Alright little Lady... you gotta ley still nah... you're gonna hurt yerself more than yah already 'ave." Gent turned his face away from her pale visage and took in the amount of damage that the torn stitches had done. the gash in her lower back was now shredded open. He'd have to take care when he stitched again, to piece together the torn flesh. But first he had to calm her down. He wished he had more hands. As it was, he was going to have to move the dust bunny to another room. SHe was in the way. He picked up the grey ball of fluff and placed her lightly in the bathroom, trying to be gentle even as the little thing spit and clawed at him. Then he returned to the couch to try and calm the woman down.

"What's wrong? You gotta tell me so I can help yah, darlin."

Kahea's nightmare alley vanished from her sight, and in its place was the dark Cajun from before. Something in her memory recalled seeing him pull Anela off her and put her behind a door somewhere. And yet she wasn't afraid. This man didn't seem to be a threat, afterall he was the one who had scared those ruffins off.

"Nothing. Nothing's wrong. Where'd you put my cat?"

She brushed away his arms and tried to get up from the couch. That's when her back decided to remind her of its wound.

"Ow!" She winced in pain, but refused to sit down.

"I need my stuff, and Anela. Where am I any how?" Her head started spinning again. Still had not food in her stomach, and the pain coming from her back wasn't making matters any better. Two steps and she found herself nealing on the ground for stablity.

"Ow."

Grey had been out walking most of the day, which was somewhat odd for the Farm Leader of the Lions. It was something he had been doing more often then not as of late though, likely because of his fight with his brother and the fact that he just needed a break. Everything had been coming down around him for so long that he now didn't know how to deal with everything being somewhat normal.

Yes, there was still the threat of these new Jackals that would eventually need to be dealt with one way or another, and there was the ever continuing need for things to be repaired or restore or harvest. It didn't matter for today, that had been his internal agreement with himself for the day, even though he had still gotten up far ahead of the sun and gotten more done than most would in a day. He had brought his rifle with him, not because he was worried about security, but more so because the deer had been running rampant and a good feast of venison might be nice for a change.

He had been tracking a 10 point Stag near the River when a blood-curdling scream distracted him. With the war still so close on his heels nothing went through Grey's mind, but before he could stop himself he was running with rifle in hand toward the River. He slowed when he came upon a Runner Boat. Putting his rifle between himself and whatever was going on, he somewhat cautiously got on board and walked slowly toward the cabin, where he heard muffled conversation going on.

With a deep breath and a quick motion, he pushed un-shut door further open with the end of his gun. As quickly as he opened the door he had an idea of what was going on a lowered him gun.

"Sorry about that I heard a scream..." Grey said somewhat apologetically, though it was obvious he still expected some ilk of an explanation. The Farm Leader was looking at the dark skinned man known to him as Gent, at least he thought it was Gent.

Gent had to pause for a moment, torn between helping up the young lady on the floor and going to give his old acquintance a good, firm handshake. In the end, he bent to help the girl back up onto the couch, sending a warm, if a bit of an awkward smile up at the man.

"Hey, Grey," he said as he watched him lower his rifle. "Not dah best situation to see you again undah, nah is it?" He helped the woman up onto her heels and holding her steady and keeping an eye on the stream of blood flowing from her back. "This little lady here has had a bit of a rough morning. Couple a brutes from out south decided to try their hand at getting into her swimsuit." His face, normally so warm and welcoming turned to stone at the thought of what those pieces of trash would have down to such a tiny girl. He shared a long hard gaze with Grey, letting him know his thoughts and just how bad he wanted to hunt those bastards down. Everyone in the Runners and even some outside knew that he loved women. They also knew that he would not tolerate anyone who treated them so much as poorly. But right now his main priority was to get that gash in her back fixed up, to get Odile and the lady's things from out on the bank, and then to sit down and catch up with Grey. As he put his hands to the little lady's shoulders to help her back onto the couch, he relized he hadn't been calling her anything but that since he'd rescued her fifteen minutes ago. A look of shame came over his face. "Uh, sweetheart... I haven't had the pleasure-ah catchin' yer name yet. I'd like tah intruhduce yah to my friend here but I dunno what to tell'im."

Kahea was startled by the new gruff voice that entered the room. But when she glanced up, she was more startled by the very large rifle that was only a yard from her face.

Her first instinct was to shift back on her heels and slowly back out of the line of sight of the two taller men, but something told her that they'd still acknowledge her presence in the room. But her choice was quickly taken from her when the darker man helped her up and lead her back to the couch.

Her thoughts came back to the conversation at hand and she winced when her savior mentioned what those three infidels were trying to do to her. On any other occasion, Kahea could've taken them all on by herself but she had let herself get weaker and weaker everyday, rationing her food more and more to make it last. When she once again found herself bringing her thoughts back to the present, she was met with two pairs of questioning eyes.

"Uh.. I'm just passing through. Looking for a place called Sundance. I'm sorry to have caused so much trouble. I have things to trade as payment for all the commotion, if I can just get my cat and my things. Then I can be on my way and out of yours." Kahea placed on one of her sweet and innocently manipulative smiles, one of the kinds she usually used when she tried to convince others that she was right about something and that she should get what she wants.

Gent arched one brow at the negotiation tactics comin' out of the girl's mouth. It seemed she didn't quite trust him... or the man holding the gun for that matter. Of course, they weren't your prettiest looking men. A river rat and a farmer didn't have much call to dress up or even comb their hair most days. And the little thing had been through a lot this morning. Gent would have just given her her things and let her go if he'd thought it would benefit her in any way. But with that gash in her back and her body and mind still in defense mode, she was sure to collapse after about thirty minutes of walking- no matter how strong she was. No. It was against his nature to let somethin' so small and wounded walk away without treatment and some good, hot jambalaya.

"Sorry sweet thing but you're not gettin' away that easy. Yer gonna rest and yer gonna eat before you even do so much as get up off that couch. And this is none negotiable. Yer dust bunny is locked in the bathrum cause it wouldn't leave my hands alone while I was trying to stitch you up, and my cat's out by yer stuff makin' sure nothin' happens to it. So if yah pramise to just relax, I'll bring the dust bunny back out, go get yer stuff and take care'ah gettin' yah back on yer feet. In fact, if Grey here will go out for Odile and yer stuff, I'll fix up that back'ah yers right nah and then get some food in yah. Now... you never answered my question."

Gent crossed his arms in front of his bare chest and stared down at the girl, his brow still raised and a slight, playful smile on his lips.

Jed was nursing a rather large headache, and by rather large, if anyone asked, he meant one that could possibly shatter his skull and without any out of date pain killers he was wandering around like a loaded gun. Any sane man would have stayed at home and waited it out but his boat was giving him cabin fever, Silver wasn't anywhere to be seen lately, which concerned him, and he was insane. Luckily for him the day was nice enough, the sun bright, not overly warm but he hadn't needed to drag out his big old jacket in a while and that always made him happy.

As he wandered past the river he'd seen a couple wading in, looking more than cosy to him, the dark haired guy he recognised, but he was unsure about the fading pink headed girl...which was unusual...he knew every female in this town.

As he took off further down the river he spotted Grey rummaging around on the deck of Gent's boat. He'd not seen the farm leader in a while so his walk turned into a slight jog and when he mounted the deck he quirked a brow, "Long time no see," he nodded to him before peeking into the slightly ajar door. He could make out Gent's back, could hear him uttering soothing words and could see a rather frail female for on the floor, "Why do I get the impression this isn't you're idea of a good time?" he frowned, pushing the door open and stepping into the boat. What he hadn't noticed at first was the splatches of blood on the carpet, and the frail looking female looking not only dainty but scared. Sighing heavily he ran a hand over his face, "Okay, what the hell is going on here, who is she and why is she bleeding on your interior?"

She wasn't familiar and the last thing Jed needed was more casualties and spies.

Okay, what in the heck had just happened to Kahea's world? She went from being perfectly fine on her own, to having some very unwanted company, to having some very welcome company, to now having just plain too much company and all within what she guessed would be about 30 minutes. And the dark skinned man still insisted on having her name.

Kahea's head started to spin. This was alot to take in, but she would get through it.

With the now three men in the room, Kahea remembered her state of half dressedness in her orange two piece and casually reached for the blanket next to her on the couch. She pulled it around herself as she chose her next words carefully.

"I'm just passing by. I saw the river and decided to talk a short swim. Unfortunatly, some rather unsightly men had followed me from the previous town and despite my efforts I found myself too drained to hold them off."

Kahae took a breath before starting again. "This gentleman right here," she raised a hand to motion to her savior. No matter what the times, pointing was always rude. "He was kind enough to scare off those men before they had a chance to conduct their violation. He also had the decencey to patch up my gash that I gave myself with my dagger, which saddly, I have opened back up."

She took another breath. Her back was really stinging, and she felt another fainting spell coming on if she wasn't careful. "Now, gentlemen, if you all don't mind, I would be most greatful if I could just get my cat out of that room over there, she really doen't like locked confined spaces, then I could retrieve my sacks from outside, and be on my way to Sundance with your kind help in directions. That is, if you don't mind."

Gent's brow shot closer to the line of his closely-cropped hair and a deep laugh set his entire torso to shaking. She was so defensive when, in reality, she had no reason to be. And she was so determined to get out of town when, in reality, she was right where she wanted to be.

"Sweetie, you need to sit back down on that couch and relax. No one 'ere's gonna hurtcha. The most any of us wants to do is help yah out, maybe get to know yah, put some food in yer stomuck and make sure yer alrigh'... Well... us men may also wanna go hunt down those burtes and beat the senses out of them for treaten yah s'bad... but that's no threat tah you so no need to worry 'bout that. As for that little dust bunny yah call a cat... she'll beh fine til I can get that cut on yer back closed up. Otherwise I'll have to stitch my own 'ands up to prevent m'self from bleedin to death. Who knew dust bunnies were so viscious, eh?" He gave Jed a smile and a conspiratory wink, silently promising to explain in further detail when everything was taken care of. For now, he needed Jed and Grey's help just gettin the little lady to loosen up and accept their help. Glanced between the two other men and spread his hands in offering.

"Now- I need yall's help tryin tah it this little ladies name outta her. She still hasn't answered me and I'm getting tired'a adressin her as little lady, even as suitable as it is. I'm gonna go get Odile and these sacks that obviously can't be left to the elements for more than 'alf an hour. Jed, yer almost as good with the ladies as I am. Get 'er name out of 'er would yah? I'll fix some food fer us all once I get those stitches in place."

With that, Gent shouldered his way out of the door, tipping his head towards the lady on his couch in his gentlemanly way before sliding shut the glass and going to fetch her things.

Jed listened as Gent tried his best to calm the girl down. This could have been a potentially awkward situation but it was turning out to look like a fucking party and Jed couldn't keep the frown off his face. He should probably have been adopting the considerate look like the rest of him but his patience was wearing thin. Sighing he caught Gent's look, sending him his own 'You fucking better explain this later' silent answer and Slipped his hand into his back pocket.

He watched as Gent escaped from the over crowded room and ran a hand through his hair, "All this talk of dust bunnies is confusing the fuck outta me," he crossed to the bed and sat down, noticing it was rather bouncy, and looking at the girl, not scrutinising, but definately trying to figure her out. "Okay little bit," he began, "How about we start with you telling my your name and we'll go from there," he slapped his hands on his knees, "Gent doesn't get all bent out of shape for no reason so I'm guessing you're in real trouble and you refusing him is as futile as you're realising it is," he looked at her knowingly, "Am I right?"

Kahea was annoyed now and with how hungry and sleep deprived she was, she was on the verge of throwing a fit. But she took a long breath and tried to calm her mind to better see both sides of the arguement.

On her fight side, she wanted not to give up her name to these strangers and just wanted to move away from the whole situation in general. On her survival side, she knew she didn't have the proper first aid supplies for the gash on her back, and she could really use the food so she didn't waste hers. There was also her sense of direction and the fact that these men could probably point her in the right direction, but probably only if she cooperates.

Kahea sighed and dropped her tight and proper demeaner. "Kahea. My name is Kahea. I'm just trying to look for someone, and I was told that said person may have traveled from the town of Sundance. If I can just backtrack to that town, I figure I can find out were that person was going and eventually meet up with that person somewhere down the line."

"Kahea, that's a nice name. Now don't you feel better now that hurdles out of the way?" he grinned, hoping to reassure despite his migraine pounding away inside his head.

He observed the way she took a deep breath in to explain calmly, to reassure them she wasn't going to get in the way and that she was going to play nice because she had no option. He had to give her kudos for not acting like a whiny little drifter chic who wanted nothing more than to be saved, that kind face on rock bottom was truly ugly. However despite her explanations she was determined to prevent anything leading from slipping out between her lips and he resisted the urge, nay, need to roll his eyes. "I don't know about you sweetheart but all this 'person' business is making it hard to understand just what you're talking about," he shook his head, "And if you're looking for information on peoples comings and goings you've been lucky," he reexamined the situation again, "Well unlucky, I guess, enough to stumble into the hands of the one tribe around here that knows everyone elses business, and very little of their own so-" he clapped his hands together, "The sooner you decide to lay a little trust, the sooner we can patch you up and let you be on your way,"

Kahea bit her lip in earnest to keep from screaming out in frustration. All this talk of trust and opening up to these strangers was really starting to piss her off.

"Not cause offense, but I haven't made it this far by "trusting" people with information that I don't deem nessary for them to know. I've survived by trusting my instincts, my cat who is still locked in the bathroom, and by fighting through difficult situations. Who I'm looking for is between me and the people of Sundance." She squared her shoulders once again and sat up right.

"Now, if I'm not going to recieve the directions to the town I am looking for, then I do not see any futher reason for me to stay here. I have items to give as payment to that gentleman who helped me earlier and for another patch job. But afterwards, I'll be on my way. I'm sorry to have caused alarm and concern but like I had stated previously I normally would have taken on those three hoodlums with no problem." Breathe. Can't be a rant without remembering to breathe.

"Unfortunantly, I was just a bit tired and famished at the time. I will be fine now."

Kahea kept her head high, almost defiant but definitely daring one of them to say something back to her. She would not be moved from her position of thought, and one way or another she was getting her way.

Jed listened as she gave him the speach, read him the riot act and the big ol' defence ramble. He sat back and listened, never letting on just how funny this whole situation now seemed. When she'd finished Jed smothered a small smile.

Acting like he'd been royally put in his place Jed stood up, "right then," he looked around, "I've been told. If you're fine, then you're fine, and as soon as Gent comes back with your stuff you can be on your way," he pointed through the window, "The town's in that direction, carry on upthe river, follow it until you see a small shack to your left, go past that and you should start to realise there's more concrete than greenery," he cleared his throat, "Good luck finding someone to patch up that wound, and food too," he smiled.

"But you're an independant girl, I'm sure you can handle it. Best of luck finding your friend," and with that he turned to leave the boat altogether.

Kahea blinked in pure shock. She was already here? After all this time and not to mention she actually went in the right direction.

"Are you serious?" Her jaw hung open. She didn't even realize that she was speaking out loud until the man who had been speaking to her began to leave the room.

"Wait! Wait!" Kahea painfully got up from the couch to catch him from leaving. "You mean to tell me I've been here the whole time? I actually went in the right direction for once? I'm not lost? Then you can help with who I'm looking for. I'm sor.." It was about time the room started to spin again, and Kahea found herself crumbling to the floor for the second time that afternoon.

"How embarrassing."

Gent launched himself off of Le Coeur and walked until he found Odile lounging in front of a bush. The cat looked, if possible, more bored than she ever had. Of course, she didn't usually have to babysit a lost girls baggage... Gent would have to repay her for this... she was liable to be a grouch until he pampered her in return for such dirty work. Smiling, Gent knealt to pick up all five of the little lady's bags. The two large bags made sense. Every traveler needed large spaces to carry as much as they possibly could. Gent had never seen the value in bags like the smaller ones though. Wasn't the point of larger bags so you didn't have to have smaller ones? Sighing, he hefted all of the bags over one broad shoulder and held out the other arm for Odile to scramble up onto. When she was nice and settled, looking more like a parrot on her perch than a cat, he walked back to his boat and quickly dorve it to the oppostie side of the Belle Fourche. He tied it off at his normal mooring spot and went back inside, almost running headlong into Jed in his attempt to get back to his "patient".

"Weel, nah. You're not runnin' away from such a pretty little damsel, nah, are yah? Not that she needs such a brutish knight on a white chargah'... If you're leavin in such a hurry, yer charms must not have been able to get a name outta her. You just go sit down and I'll cook us up some food. There's noe need for yah to be runnin' off just cause little thing bruised your backside a bit... pardon my language Miss." Gent's smile widened. It wasn't every day that a lady got the best of ol' Jed. Gent was rather enjoying seeing the man with his feathers ruffled. Grinning, Gent looked past Jed's shoulder at the couch and noticed the little lady was no longer there. "Well, hell and high water, Jed. You didn't need to go knockin'er off the couch just cause you couldn't hanndle her!" Gent brushed past him to get to the lady on the floor, gently helping her back to the couch... again.

"Jed you sit down in a chair and don't leave. Obviously somethin' went down while I was fetchin this gril's things and I wanna hear tell about it. YOU, stay put," he said, pointing a finger at the girl on his couch. "I'll get you yer cat, a hot meal, and some new sitches. You can stay here with me 'til yer back on yer feet and then yer free to go on yer merry way." Muttering under his breath, Gent walked towards the bathroom to fetch that viscious little dust bunny before it woke all his neighbors with its yowlin'. "Goodness... Sundance has seen enough drama lately without this little lady bringin her dust bunny tah town..."

He opened the door just in time to see a grey blur shooting accross the floor. He looked past it to the shreds of his shower curtain and floor rug strewn accross the tile and the soap despenser than his mother had so lovingly pick out in pieces on the floor. He leaned his head on the door frame, his jaw tense and his hand fisted on the door knob. "Well, son, serves yah right for taking the dust bunny from the couch queen..." He shut the door on the mess, not able to face it now and promising himself he'd clean it later. He walked back over to the couch, his face now with a weary look under his pasted smile. He stuck out one large and calloused hand for the little lady to shake.

"I don't believe I introduced myself... I'm Gent. The ruffian is Jed. And the silent one with the gun is Grey. And I still haven't had the pleasure of knowin' yer name."

Kahea watched as her savior finally walked over to the door where he was keeping Anela and opened it, setting free the very anxious, very annoyed cat with a blur of grey. Anela quickly found her way to Kahea's lap and began purring in earnest while she nuzzled her friend's legs. Kahea was so caught up her sudden relief and happiness of having her best friend back that she almost didn't hear Gent, was it, Gent announce everyone's name.

Oh, so he was Grey. Everything and everyone had gotten so confused, and Kahea just kept trying to listen for a simple name earlier that she had gotten mixed up with everyone saying everyone else's name so casually. So Blue Eyes was Grey.

Kahea silently wondered why they called him "Grey", and caught herself just as she let out an absent-minded smile of curiousity. Name, right, he asked for her name... again.

"I'm Kahea. And this little ball of trouble is Anela. I am so sorry she clawed at you, but you see, unless I say otherwise, she doesn't know when people are threats to me. And if I'm unconscience, well, all bets are off. And about that room, again, I am sorry. She hates enclosed, locked, spaces and none of it was personal. It was anxiety and as soon as I can I will get to it and clean it up. I will also re-sew what I can, but I don't know about the broken things. Though I have items for trade that you can have to make up for them. I'm sorry."

Kahea placed one of her sorry/pathetic type smiles on in hopes of him understanding just how bad she truely did feel about it. Here he was, saving her life practically, offering her a place to stay for awhile and what does she bring to the table? A spaztic cat who doesn't handle anxiety and stress well. Nice one.

"I also insist on giving or doing something to repay you for allowing me to stay here. It's only a fair trade considering the events that have already occured today without payment to all of you."

In the back of her mind Kahea wondered if she had enough items for payment. If she didn't, perhaps she could postpone until she could find another task to be done or she could later find away to talk herself out of it. Normally Kahea hated leaving a situation unevenly settled, but if she had to she could talk in a way that convinced the other party that they didn't need payment.

She hoped she didn't have to do that to these men. Especially since she sensed that something bigger had just blown up in town right before she got there, and all the dust of it was finally settling, but here she was coming through and stirring things up again for the three men who looked sleep deprived and stressed.

Placing on one of her more cheerful smiles to brighten the mood of the room, Kahea addressed the earlier topic of food. "So! Who's hungry? Cuz I know I must be if I keep getting woozey like this, hu? Hu? How 'bout that hot meal that was mentioned earlier? I could help with it. I found some bird eggs a day ago that'll still be good, if they're not cracked now. How 'bout it, guys?"

"Gent," Jed warned losing all humility around him. He still wasn't happy the girl was here and she'd all but brushed them off defiantly, but now she was where she wanted she suddenly wanted their help, allowed them to aid her in her recovery? He didn't like it. Not to mention she was kinda rude about the whole thing, he'd been the one to extend an olive branch first and had it pushed back in his first.

"Now just hold on a god damn minute," Jed barked once sat on the couch, because if he hadn't of obeyed Gent just a little bit this could have been difficult. "Now I'm not so sure what you did or didn't hear out there playing bell boy but the lady here told me she was perfectly capable of looking after herself. She knows where she is and not even five seconds ago she seemed very happy to be on her way," Jed folded his arms across his body, "So before we all start warming pots and sharing meals like the loving Tribe we are, I'd really like to know what would make me extend the same courtesy that was just shoved back in my face,"

Jed looked at the others in the room, his gaze pointed on the damsel in distress who was rubbing him up completely the wrong way. In a way she reminded him of Silver, all ready to take care of herself and make anyone she knew feel sort of silly for trying to help. And where the hell had she been the last few days? With the war not long over her abscence made him nervous.

Kahea slowly closed her eyes as she mentally slapped a hand to her forehead. How could she had let this become such a tangled mess? Sadly, she knew what she had to do next to calm things back down and hopefully remove her from the center of attention for awhile.

Kahea opened her eyes and faced the very annoyed and very tense Jed sitting across from her on the couch. At this point, Kahea knew the only would get through was to admit defeat.

Deep breath in and let it out.

"Jed, you are absolutely right. I came here with no trust and no desire to trust. This has come from years of having nothing but would-be trust broken and betrayed by other people. It sound farfecht'd but there were even some instances where even just giving my name placed me in some kind of trap." Kahea tried to keep her tone even and calm. Even though she was "opening up" she wasn't really telling these strangers any kind of actual details. It was all about how you worded things.

"I admit that I wanted no help from anyone until I found out where I was. So now, yes, the help I seek is information, which from what you had so generously told me earlier, I am in the right spot, the right tribe if I want to know information about comings and goings. I thank you for that knowledge and I apologize for the game of twenty questions that I was so rudely making you play whilst I dodged every question with snippy remarks. I promise you from here on out there will be no more drama from me. Deal?"

Kahea put out her hand for a hand shake that she hoped Jed would take. She had done all the steps right: admitted he was right, said a bit about her past, stroked his ego about the good information, verbalized her mistake, apologized, and promised not to repeat wrongful actions. Such was a formula that never failed if presented just the right way, and for Kahea's sake she hoped she had, even with all the added stress that had been placed on her body and mind. She just needed to be able to bring things to peace once again.

Jed looked at her incredulously, "Far fetched? More like you're living in the same world as the rest of us," he rubbed the birdge of his nose tiredly, "You're not in danger I thought by now that was pretty evident, in fact," jed pointed to the ruined bathroom, "Your cat's the most dangerous thing in here, personal belongings are precious now you understand," he knew she knew he meant that what she'd destroyed would get replaced.

He had no real idea why he was being such a dick today, the headache was still there but not as intrusive as before, maybe it was the fact that she was trying to pull the flattering wool over his eyes to get information, or maybe he was just having one of those days where being an asshole just makes him feel a bit better. Who better to take it out on than a strange little drifter with a psycho kitty?

"No more drama? Don't go making promises you can't keep," he had a feeling drama was all this girl brought around with her. She was worse than Nova, the world was buzzing with the news of that pregnant little fire starter. He had to give her props though, she'd plastered on the smile and she'd extended the hand he was shaking as the thoughts travelled through his brain. Looking out the window Jed ran a hand through his hair and plastered on a smile of his own.

"If you follow the river down the town basically opens up for you. The trading post is open and full of people, nuetral territory so don't act all shifty when you see people skulking around there's a unworded truce that nobody gets harmed around there. Whatever you do stay away from the lodges up on the mountains, there's nothing but trouble up there and if you stumble across the town houses ask for Wolf and say Jed sent you,"

Why did he want her to say that? He wanted to mess with her and the surly tribe leader. It was the little things that amused the greatest.

Finally, some peace. Or at least what appeared to be some temporary peace. "I'll do my best to keep it," Kahea said, letting go of Jed's much bigger hand from their handshake. It took all she had in her no to pull the "guy" move and do the whole "who can squeeze harder" thing.

"Thank you for the directions. But my next question is about the comings and goings around here." As much as she was curious about what he had just said about "un-worded truce" and mountain lodges being trouble, she needed to get down to business.

She dropped her smile, not even fully realizing it, before she continued speaking. "I was wondering if there had been any military forces coming through here? A small group of about four men, one with very short dark hair, and slate colored eyes." She didn't realize it, but her own eyes had changed to a soft hazel with slight hope and desperation shinning in them.

Jed stood up and crossed to the window, looking out at the unsettled water, as if the very mention of new forces in the town were enough to disrupt the ever passive water that they lived on. He looked back at her, studying her face, why was she asking about that? Her expression had grown desperate. How long had she been looking for this person? How far had she travelled, it was enough to make him feel sorry for her. Everyone knew what it was like to search for someone, even if it felt futile you still went on, he would have continued to look for Gypsy 'til the ends of the earth had her body not been discovered to be lying right under their noses. Alone and starving, she must have been soo scared, that memory alone had Jed clenching his fists together.

"There haven't been military forces here since the beginning of this whole mess," he frowned, "You're chasing a myth, a store told to the children to give them hope that one day someone might save them,"

Sure he knew about new people coming into the Lodges, the slate eyed man he'd met and had a conversation with, the guy now pulling the strings. "There have been new people moving into town," Jed considered leaving this out completely but he urged to have off this boat soon so he coughed up what he hoped she wanted to hear. "They passed through here not long ago, I don't know if they stayed, we haven't ventured must outside our land, there was a- a conflict," he strode over to the door, "If I know who you're looking for," Jed cast her a sad look, "I'm not sure I hope you find them," Jax had seemed reasonable but there was something off about him, and he'd heard the stories, rumours spread like wildfire around here. The last thing he needed was someone elses demise on his concious.

New people? Conflict? Oh no, that couldn't be them; her brother wouldn't have been the cause of the obvious tension that spread over the entire room the minute the word "military" came out of her mouth. He believed in do good, and being peace and hope with his work, not fear and destruction. Kahea half debated what her next move should be. Jed had said if he knew who she was looking for, and she could provide that, but did she want to let out one of her precious secrets to these people?

She quickly made up her mind. "The man I'm looking for is my brother. and I can provide a way to show him to you." She got up from the couch slowly, and walked over to things. Digging into one of her smaller pouches, she grabbed her ipod, and flipped through it until she found what she was looking for, a picture of Michael that showed him smiling and happy.

"This is the man I'm looking for. His name is Michael, and it would be greatly appreciated if you could keep this all to yourselves. Especially if you haven't seen him around here." She secretly hope that they had seen him and could tell her where he was, or where he was headed, but deep down, she had the worst sinking feeling that she had come across yet another dead end.

Jed looked at the picture for a few minutes then slowly shook his head, "I wish I cold say I'd seen him but I haven't," he stepped out of the doorway a little more, "Look all I know is that there were passers by but I don't know anymore than that," he looked at her sinking expression, "I really am sorry,"

As he walked out of the door and towards the dock he noticed that Grey had long gone, and Gent was still nowhere to be found. He contemplated leaving the girl there but unattended people tended to aquire unattended objects that were not always theres and it would be highly irresponsible of him to have such a minor threat to soo much damage. Sighing heavily he ducked back into the doorway.

She was still on the floor, "You got anywhere to stay tonight?"
