Week Fourteen- Wednesday
Who: Peri and Gent
What: Catching up
When: Wednesday Morning
Where: Gen't Boat
Rating: TBD... Probably up there given the personalities of these two...

Gent was enjoying the early morning sun on the top deck of Le Couer. It was nice to just sit and relax with Odile in his lap, his tattered shorts hanging a litle loose on his recently slighted frame and the sun warm accross his bare chest. The past few weeks had been rough. He hadn't had much time to catch up with any of his aquaintances of the River Runners. Things had ben so tense that he just hadn't cared to talk to people much. But now that an awkward peace had been reached, he was ready to see some of his old friends. He had come back to land to see people hadn't he? He was tired of being trapped in his own head and he hadn't flirted with a pretty girl in ages. He needed to flirt.

So, when a pretty little blonde sparked his memory from the deck of a house boat a few over, Gent couldn't help but crack a smile. Oh, he remembered her. He could never forget such pretty baby blues. He stood, sliding a disgruntled Odile onto his shoulders as he shaded his eyes and called out.

"Well, I'll be! If it isn't little Miss Periwinkle! Still sweet to look at ma'am!" Gent let his smooth cajun accent float over the rows of boats towards that pretty little piece of woman.

OOC: Any idea for what the rating might be?

Peri had been docked since the previous night at the trading post, working over her kiln and trying to catch up with the backlogged orders that had finally caught up with her. Luckily for her customers, when Peri realized how far behind she was, she had stayed up all night and was done everything that was overdue.

The events of the previous day had already slipped her mind as did most things that had anything to do with the politics between tribes. She had said what she needed to say and now that was history.

However, when a familiar voice called out to her she couldn't help but be delighted by a piece of her history drifting toward her. Gent and Peri had always gotten along, mostly because like she and Jed they had always had the same frame of mind when it came to their beds. That of course had led to many pleasurable experiences that meant nothing, but certainly made her a better person.

An eyebrow raised slightly at the thought and reflected in her voice as she called out, "Well hello Stranger, I thought for sure you had gone missing this time!" Reaching down she sanded the fire at the base of her kiln, as the rest of the orders would just have to wait. Locking the cabinet she kept her finished pieces in, she hung the key back around her neck as she jumped swiftly onto the deck of the ship between her own and Gent's. Within four stride she was off that deck and onto his, "So where have you been hiding this time?"

Gent smiled when peri skipped over to his deck, a key swinging lightly between those lovely breasts of hers. She looked tired, but ever as radiant as he remembered her.

"Now, Peri, even if I had gone missing, you know I'll always find my way back to you!" He pulled her into a light hug. She had always been able to put a smile on his face. She was like a ray of sunshine, someone he could go to if he just needed a good time. "As, for where I've been, you know that I don't ever plan to go anwhere in particular. I've just been floating for a while, really. And I came back because my own head was getting to be a bit much for me." Taking her hand and pulling her over to one of his deck chairs, Gent saw to it that she was comfortable before sitting doan and propping up his feet. Odile came down from his shoulder to sniff at Peri and Gent laughed when the cat recognized her, purring her way into the woman's lap.

"So, how have you been, sweetheart? Things ok? I mean, besides this darn war and all."

Peri couldn't help, but laugh, "Had just a bit to much of yourself there Gent. Don't worry we can bring you back down a peg or two." Smiling she petted Odile who had come to nest in her lap. Although she didn't have any pets of her own, she was very fond of them. Personally though on the long term they were just too much commitment for this woman.

"Oh I'm fine, got left by my lover for his brother, but I can't say I'm disappointed because it honestly just made a cleaner breakup than the mess I would have made eventually..."

A thought dawned on her and the tone of her voice changed. Gent had been gone for quite some time, so she might as well break the news if no one else had. "You know what happened to Gypsy right?"

A flood of welcome flew through Gent at Peri's comfortable teasing. It really had been far to long. He knew what she meant about clean breaks but he had to feel sorry for her, at least a little. It was always hard losing a lover. But she didn't seem too terribly upset about it... so he gave her a gently pat on the shoulder, his large hands covering the entire delicate thing, and hoped it would suffice as comfprt for now.

Gent felt his flood of comfprt freeze over when Peri's voice took on another tone. Gypsy had been a friend and a confidant to Gent for years, had never taken out on him the fact that he never stuck around for long and had made him feel at homw every time he stopped in Sundance. He couldn't bear it if something had happened to her in his absence. He gulped.

"What... happened?"

To be honest even though Peri had volunteered the information, she had sincerely hoped that Gent would already know. She still felt the wound raw in her flesh and hoped that it wouldn't be true in the end, but it was. The looks on Gent's face did not help her though and so her voice faltered as she spoke.

"She... well she..." taking a deep breath she decided to treat it like a bandage, quick and effective. "She got caught in the bear trap out by the farm... and she... well she's dead." Coughing she wiped the tears from her eyes.

A cold and unwelcome chill ran down Gent's spine. She couldn't be dead. She just couldn't be. He fealt his features go almost slack, his eyes go cold and his jaw clench as he fought back a rather inhuman yell. He couldn't cry- couldn't seem to get a handle on what Peri had just told him...

"So much for a nice pleasant morning... I need a drink..." Gent got out of his chair, motioning for Peri to follow him into his little kitchenette, where he drew a glass from above the sink and a half-empty bottle of scotch from the cabinet beneath it. He poured himself five fingers of the stuff before taking a swig and turning back to Peri. He motioned to the bottle, asking if she wanted some.

His voice was deep and grating, raw with emotion. "When did this happen, Peri?"

Peri had not wanted anything to do with delivering news, she just wasn't that type. She just didn't do crying or being upset or being comforting. It wasn't in her nature, or at least it wasn't in the nature she had built around herself to shield herself.

Following him into his kitchenette, something her own house boat lacked which was more than apparent by the ever continuing lack of meat on her bones, Peri looked like a fish out of water. However, scotch was a good answer and as Gent was motioning toward the bottle he had just put down, Peri had no problem grabbing it and taking a good long swig. She was a light weight and took enough of a swig to at least make the next hour fuzzy.

Coughing lightly as her throat burned, she set the bottle back down. "Just before the war between the Lions and the Wolves, she went missing... and we found her after it." Closing her eyes, she snapped them back open. "I don't want to talk about it anymore. And specifically I would appreciate you tell me what you were up to while you were gone." The look in her eye would have made it apparent to a complete stranger that she was not going to say anymore. She couldn't, well at least not without loosing it and Peri was too controlled to lose it.

Gent took another swig of the liquor in his glass and steeled his shoulders. Gypsy was dead. Did it really matter how she had died? And Peri didn't look like she could handle telling such a story. In fact, Gent didn't think Peri had ever been one for pain and discomfort. It was a defensive strategy that many gals adopted these days.

"Sorry, Peri... I didn't mean to dahken the daytime... God rest her..." He lifted his glass in heaven's direction and took another long, firey swig before putting the glass down on the counter. "You know me, Gal. I just go wherever the river does. The Fourche has been good tah me... and so have theh ladies along her shore." He sent Peri a suggestive wink, hoping to put a bit of a smile back on her face.
