Week Fourteen - Tuesday
Who: Gemini and Hazard
When: midday
Where: the farm
What: fun!
OOC: Sorry for the delay!

Hazard left the Carrion and headed to the farm, which was going to take a while although he tolerated the journey every time. Spending time with Gemini was always good and this time he had a present for her. What started as a way to pass the time grew and he realized it was better to have someone in mind while making someone. It made crafting easier and while it was better if his present had a practical purpose, he figured an aesthetic gift was a nice change of pace. Hazard was serious and practical most of the time as the situation called for it, but his youth was passing before his eyes. Only five years to be a teenager remained and he hadn't goofed off like most teens... if they lived in better times.

After a while, he arrived and chose a safe path through the couple of traps he set up to the door and knocked on it. The present was behind his back because he wanted it to be a surprise. She wasn't allowed to peek! When the door finally opened, he gave her a smile. "Hey," he said. "I hope you have no plans. Today is all about fun and living it up before we get grey hair and wrinkles." Or succumb to the virus when they reached a certain age. He wanted to show her what he had made and start the couple of activities planned, but it was better not to rush things."First things first," added Hazard. "I have a present for you, but I don't know if you will like it." Girls liked flowers, right?

Gemini looked out the window before going to open the door. If it was anyone she didn't knw, she would refuse to open it, plain and simple. She had been a little antsy since libby had been taken... actualy, the antsyness probably started on the night of that nightmare... Gemini shuddered but smiled when she saw hazard at the door. The boy was just too sweet to frown at! And he had taken to leather work with such zest! He was sure to reach her level of skill in only a couple of years at the rate he was going.

Gemini opened the door with a huge smile on her face and lifted an eyebrow in response to whatever it was that he was hiding behind his back.
"i didn't plan on having any plans... so yeah! Fun sounds awesome! The grey hair and wrinkles, not so much." Anything to take her mind off of Saint and Libby, she thought.

"Hazard, why on earth would you bring me a present?" Her lips tipped up in her signature half-smile and her green eyes glittered mischieviously.

No one was able to resist the idea of creating one's own leather clothing and Hazard looked forward to that, even if the idea was not cool for a self-proclaimed spy. He enjoyed spending time with her and took any excuse to remain in her company during his spare time. Sometimes he just needed to get away and this was probably the farthest from the hospital possible without endangering himself. No chance did he want to run way from his life because he knew he was able to make a difference. His smile widened even more as she told him she had no plans and now everything was set. "Great!" he said. She looked as though she needed a distraction from whatever it was that bothered her.

"Do I need a reason?" he asked. "You're my friend." The door was open wide enough for him to slip past her, still hiding the present expertly. He took a few steps backwards before showing the gift to her at last. He had made a (coat hanger) wire sculpture of a flower with different colored pieces of glass as the color of the petals. It was stuck in a small chunk of concrete which Hazard put in a flowerpot and laid moss on top of it so she wouldn't notice the boring grey. "It's not the greatest thing in the world, but it might cheer up your windowsill." He placed it on a windowsill as a demonstration, noting that there were light reflections on the floor as anticipated. "It makes nice spots of light on the floor too." Should she look, Gemini would see patches of light that formed a crude smiling face... unintentional to begin with, but still nice.

As for things to do, Hazard had a pack of cards and other things in his backpack which he always carried with him. The Dark Flash (spy alter ego) came prepared, that was for sure. "I have some cards... and another surprise. If you like swings." He grinned.

Gemini had expected Hazard to bust out some brilliant proof of his leather working capabilities, so what he pulled from behind his back was both shocking and delightful. She stood back as he placed that beautifully handcrafted, glass flower on the windowsill and felt her smile spread from ear to ear. With Libby gone and no word from Saint, she had begun thinking her days were meant to be cloudy and grey for the rest of her life. Now, here was Hazard, bringing her a rainbow! And a rainbow that smiled no less! It was a completely glomp-worthy moment. Gemini threw her arms around him and let out a positively gleeful squeal. "Oh, thank you Hazard!"

After backing up, she took a moment to acknowledge what else he had said, having missed it earlier in her post-gift elation. Had he said cards? And swings!? She didn't know many card games... but swings she could definitely get excited about. "Um...I don't know many card games... you'd have to teach me. But swings! What do you mean by swings?!" She lifted an eyebrow and crossed her arms in front of her chest. "You better not be pulling me leg, boyo." It was proof that Gemini was comfortable with Hazard that her Scottish lilt had gone full on brogue. She smiled playfully at him, overjoyed that he had come all the way from the hospital just to bring her smiles and fun and rainbows.

Showing his ability to do leather working could come later. He had a little artistic talent, so it was nice to make something a friend appreciated. It was not a side of himself he explored very often as he preferred to focus on being stealthy and helpful to his tribe that way. What the hell, though, he made Gemini smile; it might be in his best interests to make her more presents if he got hugs like this every time. "Welcome. Glad you like it," he said as his smile remained and he wrapped an arm around her to return the hug briefly. When he intended to go all out, he did and people he cared about benefitted from it.

Hazard smirked now as she focused on the swings. Oh yes, he was a guy of many surprises. "I can teach you the few I know..." He paused to build the suspense of the latter part of his statement more. "And follow me." It was only a moment before he took her hand and hurried out of the house towards one of the trees that would be suitable for setting up the swings. He stopped in front of it and slipped off his backpack, unzipping it to pull out a wooden plank with two ropes attached to it. It had been difficult to make sure everything was stable but he finally managed it. "I won't take very long, I promise." With that, Hazard pulled on his gloves and leapt up to the first branch, then climbing the tree a short distance with the grace of an acrobat.

There, a suitable branch! He walked onto it, confident in the utmost, and knelt to tie the ends of the rope around the branch. "Is it even?" he asked. Retying it was no problem, but he needed to know so trying out the swing would not be uncomfortable for her.

Gem let her laugh fall from her lips like bells as Hazard led her out into the trees. She could hardly wait to be on a swing! And she was glad that she had opted for her camouflage pants and green tank top this morning, instead of the gypsy skirt she had thought about slipping into. It was no fun fly from a swing when wearing a skirt.

Gem shielded her eyes with her hand as she watched Hazard climb up into the tree, her teeth mangling the skin of her bottom lip. Sure, he was as graceful as she was, a veritable cat up in those branches, but she could still worry about her friend. She said a silent prayer for him to be careful and then measured the bottom of the swing when he told her to.

Perfectly level of course. "It's perfect!" She called," Now will you please come down so I can stop my imagination from coming up with horribly gruesome falls?"

Hazard really did like making her happy and double-checked the security of the ropes. They seemed to be all right, thanks to much experience he'd had. "The height of this branch isn't as tall as some of the tightropes I used to practice on," he told her, but he returned to the ground within a short while to ease her worry. Her being concerned with his safety was touching and he cared about her just as much. When he was down, he gestured for her to get on the swing and gave her a little push to get Gemini started swinging.

The movement of the swing was gentle at first although she was more than welcome to go higher. He liked swinging very high and sometimes would jump off to do impressive moves in mid-air. "How do you like your swinging?" he asked. "Do you do tricks at the end?" If she did not, he could understand that; performing dangerous things was just what he did. "See, I like doing flips and other sweet moves." He hoped she tried the same as him so they could compete of sorts.

Gemini rolled her eyes. It was so typical for males to try to shrug of the worry of females. But she got on the swing as soon as he was down, trusting him to have made it secure as possible and far to eager to wait. She let him push her until he issued his challenge, so cleverly disguised as an innocent question. Another typically male action. They had to make ever ounce of fun a contest. She smiled a little wickedly at Hazard over her shoulder and lifted an eyebrow at him.

"What is it with boyos and making everything a contest?" She sighed and dragged her feet, bring the swing to a stop. She drew a scrap of leather out of her pocket and gripped it in her teeth as she reached back to gather her thick hair into a braid. She couldn't do flips if her mass of curly hair was going to be in her face. "I accept you challenge Hazard." She grinned at him again as she tied the piece of leather around the end of her hair. "You may want to back up." She waited for him to clear the area, drew the swing back as far as it would go, then launched herself into it, pumping her legs until she was flying high over the ground. laughter bubbled up from her stomach at the top of every swing when she experienced that moment of weightlessness. That was what she loved about swings, the absolute freedom thay gave to those that couldn't fly. With a huge smile on her face, Gemini let the swing make one more repetition and then flung herself into the air, tucking and spinning through a rather perfect somersault, if she must say so herself. She landed lightly, on the balls of her feet, knees bent to absorb the impact and then stood, catching her breath to see that she was at least fifteen feet away from the swing. Yes, it helps being small and flexible and in shape, she thought. No one should ever underestimate someone who lived in the Texas Hills for as long as I did. I'm a cat and I always land on my feet. She giggled and then walked over to hug Hazard again. She smiled innocently up and him.

"Your turn!"

Part of him wanted to be the only guy she worried about so much, but that was selfish of him to even consider the thought. He met her eyes and knew he had her hooked. Excellent. "Because when we win those contests, we feel powerful and better about ourselves," he answered. She accepted the challenge, which widened his smile and stepped away from her far enough so she had enough room to swing and do her trick. It was great that she liked to swing and Hazard had been fortunate in choosing activities.

He watched as she started to swing vigorously and after a minute, she flew off and did a somersault in the air. That was when an overwhelming feeling swept over him and he grinned. "That was awesome!" he exclaimed. Showing that much excitement about someone's actions was something he hadn't done in a while and Gemini had gained more respect in his book. He had to jump off the swing in a way as cool as hers to impress her because he wanted to do so very badly now. He sat on the swing and started to move on it, swinging high. It had been ages since he did this and he had to remember what to do exactly otherwise he'd hurt himself. When he thought he got it, Hazard leapt off the swing and curled himself into a smaller ball so he could do a double somersault. It looked as though he was about to stand up straight afterwards, but instead did a one-handed cartwheel. Not bad for the first time in years.

Hazard hoped he got another hug for this. "Not my greatest," he told her. "I like doing backflips more, but I haven't done this kind of thing in a while. It's not that practical, but the Dark Flash has known to do some cool things every once in a while." His spy alias, which he thought was awesome...despite his not using it very much. That was good, considering he hadn't got caught yet.

Gemini stood back and watched his graceful flips and turns through the air, clapping and laughing gleefully when he hit the ground and turned a perfect, one-handed cartwheel. His background and experience showed quite beautifully in the way he handled himself. She hugged him again when he came back over to her, smiling and trying to think of what trick she would pull next. Her first trick had been a simple somersault, something she was sure she could do after so many years of climbing trees and flipping off swings in her hill country home. Now she'd have to pull out her big black bag. She smiled, basking in the warmth of doing something so fun with such a close friend.

"Okay, that's it. No more Little Miss Nice Scottish Girl! Let's get a little more practice under your belt and then you can show me the really cool stuff that will make me gape at you and clap and jump up and down."

Playfully shoving his shoulder, Gemini jumped up onto the swing, standing on the wooden board so she could use it as a springboard at the right time. She began the build-up process, swinging back a forward until she had adequate height for what she planned. Then she launched herself, flying and tumbling through the air in a series of flips before pouring into the perfect swan dive. Her hands hit the ground first, elbows bending to absorb the extra impact and then straightening to throw her into an arching back hand spring. She landed, bouncing lightly on the balls of her feet, a huge smile on her face and curls starting to escape from the thick braid to wisp around her flushed cheeks. She practically skipped back to him and linked her arm through his.

"Okay. I need a break after that one." She paused to catch her breath. "Go show off Mr. Hazard. Show me what a spy can do." Sh plopped down out of the way of the swing and gave his ankle a nudge with her soft leather boot before crossing her legs indian style and leaning back on her arms.

He returned the hug, feeling somewhat light-headed as she touched him. She needed to stop that or else he might not be able to concentrate for much longer, despite him wanting otherwise. He was having fun as well in a couple of ways and caught his breath with little difficulty, stretching his limbs afterwards to make sure he did not pull a muscle while doing more difficult moves. Now she was going to up her game and so was he. "Sounds good." He liked the thought of making her happy from his actions and smiled at her.

She started to swing, with him waiting in anticipation, and he watched as she jumped off the swing doing an an amazing stunt. Back hand spring and flips? Wow. He grinned and cheered at her, especially as she linked arms with her. Then she spoke; he was determined not to disappoint her. "You got it." Hazard reached the swing and stood on it as well, starting to move until he was at the right height to leap off of it. He turned around and then jumped, flipping backwards and landing on his feet, crouching. As soon as he landed on the ground, Hazard did another back flip. He'd learned things like that from other people in the circus a while ago.

"Not as good as yours," he said as he laid on the ground next to her, hands behind his head. "You have some incredible moves." He reached out to wiggle the ends of her hair playfully. "Wish you could have been in the circus, Gem. As an acrobat."

Gemini laughed, swatting at his hand playfully when he reached out to tug at her hair. "The circus? Me? No, I liked the peace and serenity of the hill country too much. I never really liked going into the city and I only ever went to a circus once. I loved watching everything... but my family meant too much to me... I could never have left them... or my hills and trees and valleys. I was just a girl who liked playing in trees. And seeing how many ways I could get down from those branches." She turned and smiled at Hazard, a rather dreamy smile on her face. She would have loved to see him perform. After the past few years, and the past few weeks more specifically, it fun just watching him jump and swing from a simple swing. He must have been fabulous up on a tightrope. Gemini sighed, gazing up at the clouds and letting her mind wander. Libby and Saint were home, her best friend had brought her Rainbows and swings to brighten her day, and she was beginning to feel, for the first time, that coming to Sundance had been the best decision of her life.

Darn. Hazard hoped he'd be able to touch her innocently and decided he needed to push the thought out of his mind. It was a shame Gemini had not been to the circus often because the atmosphere within it was one of a kind. Relaxing in natural surroundings seemed to be more her thing and if she liked the peace here, he needed to make sure nothing would disturb her here. "I understand," he said. "Family's everything. So's your home. And it's nice here." No reason for her to leave this place. "Kinda makes me want to stay here with you." He realized what he said and looked away to hide the embarrassed expression on his face that appeared. She might think nothing of it.

"Too bad we don't have the right kind of equipment because otherwise we could make jumping down from trees a lot more fun," he continued onto a safer topic. "We could have had trampolines, zip lines, things to make you glide... You know, one thing I've wanted to try for a long time is hang gliding. If it's something you'd want to do too, I'll double my efforts to find the materials we need." Anything to make her happy. He grinned and then got to his feet, determined to let the fun continue a little longer.

Hazard gestured for her to get to her feet as well. "C'mon, Gem, I'll give you a piggyback ride." He was sure he could do it because she didn't look too heavy and he enjoyed those when he was younger. No reason to refuse, he hoped.

Gemini hadn't missed what Hazard had said and it made the little crease appear in the middle of her forehead, even as she kept her smile in place. They had been friends for at least a month now... he was the best friend Gemini had ever had and he went out of his way to put a smile on her face. But she didn't see him as any more than her best friend, it was almost a familial love that she felt, as if Hazard was the younger brother that she had never had. And here it seemed that he might be feeling a little more that sibling-type affection. It made Gemini a little nervous. And she couldn't push Saint, her lover and her- well she supposed she could call him her boyfriend- out of her mind.

She didn't try to push Saint out, merely tucked him safely to the side of her head for now. She needed to talk to him... to clarify what they had... but that could wait until another day, when Hazard and Gem had had their much needed day of fun. She let the kink ease out of her brow when he started talking about more supplies. He really did go much to far out of his way for her.

"Hazard, you brought me a swing and a rainbow today. In my book, you have surpassed all gift expectations and are covered for all of eternity." She chuckled a little. "If anything, I should be doubling my efforts to surprise you with something."

She raised an eyebrow when he suggested a piggyback ride, trying her best not to see any ulterior motives in the simple suggestion, "Is this your way of calling me a little girl, Hazard?" She laughed a little as he helped her up and nudged his shoulder with hers. "I will accept you offer of a piggyback ride. But you have to let me prove that a 132 pound 18 year old can give you a piggyback ride!"

It was unlikely he would try to do anything given how distracting those kinds of feelings were and as she was older, that made things more complicated. After Junk left and Mouse was killed, he liked the idea of an older sister. He did not want to lose her in any way and that was why he pushed everything non-platonic away from his thoughts. He just wanted her to have fun and he liked seeing that he was able to help her do it. "That's good to know," he said with a smile. "But I take that as a challenge to top myself." Now that she seemed to be open to the idea, Hazard considered finding the materials for a hang-glider - impossible as it was, because he did not know how to build one, only how it looked - and offering people rides.

"No," said Hazard quickly. Demeaning her was the last thing he wanted to do. Piggyback ride it was! He turned around and bent slightly so she could get on his back and held her legs by his sides as he stood. "Now let's go!" She wasn't that heavy, he discovered, and started to walk faster. All right, now to make things more exciting. He twirled her around in a circle not too quickly and a short laugh escaped. "Just to make things more exciting." He started to run for a short distance, adding another spin just for fun. Hopefully that was extra thrilling for her.

Her giving him a piggyback ride would be interesting and he hoped he was not too heavy for her. "Sounds good!" That plan was very nice.
