Week Thirteen- Saturday
Bad Experiences Stay with You...
Who: Gemini (open to Libby or anyone who hears Gem's screams, otherwise a Narrative)
What: Seeing all the men at the St. Patty's party triggered nightmares.
When: Saturday, late at night
Where: Gemini's Room at the white house.
Rating: R (Violence)

Gemini could hear the rough laughter of the men running behind her, hear each of the eight or ten feet that pounded through the shadow of Jacobs Hill. Legs burning, pain branching through her side, she pushed frantically forward through the dark trying in vain to put some distance between herself and her pursuers. But she could feel them gaining ground- could feel one man's breath almost on the back of her neck and her fingers grappling for the tendrils of her hair that the wind flew out behind her. Each time those large, fat fingers gained purchase, the wrenched her head forward, avoiding capture for a few blessed seconds. But she was losing speed. She had been running for what seemed like ages at the fastest pace and longest stride she could muster from her tired and under-nourished limbs. She cried out as her boot caught an unseen root- stumbling and faltering- just long enough for those vile hands to fist in her tangled and dirty hair and wrench her backwards, seemingly separating her scalp from her skull.

With a thud and a shriek, Gemini landed on her back in the wet leaves, her eyes blurring with tears, clouding the stars out of the dark, night sky. Her screams were not likely to be heard, not with that huge, brutal-looking man crushing his hand over her throat, closing it off just enough to make her gasp and whimper instead of cry out. She could feel the vibrations of his laughter as he called to his friends and seven shadows blocked out the light of the moon above her.

"Please-" The hand closed a little tighter, cutting off her breath as cold metal cut through the fabric of her jeans. Writhing and twisting, clawing at the hands that were trying to restrain her, Gemini fought against the brutes with pure animal instinct, forgetting all of the things her father had taught her as she panicked. She felt bile rise in her parched throat as hands grabbed at her, bruising and battering in their search for demented pleasure. She had to get them off, had to get away. Where was Callum? Where was her rucksack? Her knives? She couldn't reach the leather braid at her wrist, couldn't untie it and bring it around any throats. She couldn't do anything but scream as the hand left her throat to wrench apart her legs-

With a scream that echoed through the dark of the house, Gemini shot forward off of her sweat drenched pillow, stumbling out of her bed and throwing herself to the cool floor in the corner of the room. She clutched her knees to her chest, pulling her whites sleep-shirt over her legs to cover as much of her skin as possible as she sobbed into her folded arms. She hadn't been raped, had managed to escape that night in Colorado, but the nightmare had brought back ever detail, the smell of those filthy men, the cool air of the night as it chilled her sweating skin, the absence of Callum at her side...

In the back corner of her mind, Gemini registered that large lupine body edging closer to her, knowing that she needed him but that she would scream if anyone or anything touched her at the moment. She was panicking again, remembering every man that had every tried to gain favors for food or supplies over those wandering years. Remembering the face of each man that had been at the trading post earlier that night. She would have to learn to control her fear of men...Especially since she would be interacting with so many in this town... But for now, she let the panic take over and the sobs wrench from her chest.

Wolf had skipped the party that night. He had woke up that morning with a bad feeling and thought that it might be better for him to just stay at home. He checked up on the other tribe members at the apartments and then set about doing any of the chores around the place that needed done. His ego was still too bruised for him to bring himself to venture out to the farm. He was still angry at Grey for what had happened to Nova.

He knew that eventually he'd have to come to some kind of understanding with Grey, but he didn't know how to just yet. He couldn't sacrafice everything they'd all worked so hard to build the last few years. What mattered was that Nova was still alive and happy, but Wolf had a hard time letting go of things. Especially when they pertained to the well-being of the people that he cared about.

A lot of the tribe had gone to the St. Patrick's Day party. Wolf had heard that it was an all-tribe party, and he didn't feel like seeing any of the Mountain Lions. He knew that when the time came for them to seek retribution against Jace and Bishop he'd see enough of them. He'd urged anyone who wanted to go to the party to avoid any Mountain Lions at all costs, and to by no means mention the drifters.

He went to bed early that night in an effort to quiet his unsettling thoughts about the Mountain Lions, Grey, and everything else. However, his sleep was interrupted by a girl's scream. At first he wasn't sure of what he thought he had heard. He sat up in bed and grabbed the handgun that he kept hidden under the night stand. Wolf hated guns, but they had their purpose. He was fairly sure that he'd heard a scream, and that it had come from Nova's old room. He got out of bed as silently as he could and snuck carefully from his room, listening for any other sound. It was strange that Gemini's dog wasn't barking. Surely he would have barked if someone was in the house.

He nudged Libby's door open and saw her safe in her bed, though she looked restless. He turned from her bedroom them and went farther down the hall to Gemini's room. He listened at the door. He heard someone crying but nothing else. He nudged the door open and looked all around the room. Gemini's bed was empty and there didn't seem to be anyone else in the room, but then he saw her huddled in the corner and Callum nearby her. He stepped in and glanced around the room. He was sure there was no one there so he lowered the gun and held it at his side. He didn't want to scare her.

"Gemini?" He said as he walked closer to her. He leaned forward and put a hand out to touch her shoulder. "Are you all right? Is everything

Gemini hardly registered the door as it slowly swung open, revealing the leader of her sister's tribe standing in the opening. But she sensed the man treading softly across the floor, his large hand inching toward her shoulder. As much as it shamed her, she couldn't stop the wrenching sob tearing from her chest. She couldn't stop herself from launching herself out of the corner, determined to not be trapped by this man that towered over her. She moved to the opposite wall in quick, feline movements, drawing her weapon from around her wrist and holding it at the ready. Responding to her movements and the horrendous noises erupting from her throat, Callum lunged between Wolf and his master, a deep growl echoing from his jaws and daring the man to step forward and have his throat ripped out.

Gemini's voice was low, grating and desperate- a warning that her sanity was sketchy at best, that her panic was pulling her over the edge.

"Stay away from me, Wolf. Don't touch me. Don't fucking touch me!"

And yet her mind was screaming, 'He's ok. He doesn't hurt Libby. He won't hurt you. Calm down.'

But he was so big compared to her! So much like those men that had caught up to her in the woods. She could feel their hands again, could see the evil grins on their faces and smell their sweat as they tried to subdue her. She could see Wolf through the haze of her panic and see features that reminded her of the men that had tried to rape her, who had asked her for favors in the place of food. A nose like the man in Kansas. His eyes like a man in Louisiana. The hands, stretched out in that wounded-animal fashion, so like the brute that had grabbed her in New Mexico. She needed a friend. Someone she trusted. Someone she could lean on that didn't send the screams tearing from her throat again.

Lowering herself to a crouch, ready to pounce but sitting on her heels in a terrified ball, Gemini pulled Callum's vicious form into her arms and sobbed into the raised fur along his spine.

"Libby... Shadow... Saint... Saint... Please.... Don't let them touch me... Don't let them hurt me..."

After a quiet day at the library, Libby had ventured out to the trading post, only for a bit, to make a quick appearance. Even after her drastic change in perception, she still did not care too much for public events...especially after recent occurrences. But as one of the main spokespeople for inter-tribal peace, she felt a bit obligated to at least show up and demonstrate her support. After seeing Nova alive and well, she was content to head back to the apartments. Passing Wolf's room, she saw he was already asleep and thought it best not to disturb him. Libby did not want to appear so clingy or needy that she had to spend her first and last moments of the day with him. Though the surprise visits to each others room were certainly pleasant.

She curled up in her bed with her notebooks and first started writing down the main events of the day in the historical journal before turning to her private journal. After gushing in terribly long sentences about her still new and embarrassingly wonderful relationship with Wolf, she put her things away and went to sleep.

Before long, a scream pierced her sleep, but did not quite wake her, just worked its way into her dream. The creaking of her room door opening did arouse her suspicions, and her eyes flew open, though she remained still. Had someone broke into the house? Listening to the footfalls fade away toward Gemini's room, Libby slid silently out of bed and grabbed the knife in her bedside table. She cautiously stuck her head out into the empty hallway, but burst into a sprint when she heard Gemini's panicked voice.

"Shit! Wolf! What the fuck?!" Libby shoved him out of the way in an oddly protective move to kneel at her half-sister's side. Her half-awake brain did not really take into account that Gemini or her dog might have been in an attack mode, nor did it really occur to her that Wolf was just there to help. What she did see was her half-sister huddled by the wall with her weapon in her hand, muttering something about not letting them hurt her, and Wolf was standing in her room with a gun.

"Gemini, look at me. What did he do? Did he hurt you?" She knew Wolf was far from the type to hurt others. Sure, there had been that fight with Grey, but other than that, he was harmless, right? As much as Libby wanted to believe he was innocent, Old Libby was quick to blame the closest male, especially one wielding a weapon.

((By the way, I am sick, and the doctor is making me stay in bed for a week, and I am all kinds of drugged up, so I do apologize if nothing makes sense or just looks weird. But c'mon, a week of no work. I have no more excuses to not get caught up on my replies. XP ))

Gemini recognized Libby's voice and her face flew out of Callum's comforting fur. The dog was still bristling, his sharp teeth still flashing at wolf. But he paid no attention to Libby, aware of the fact that Gemini wasn't afraid of women... only large, muscled, volatile men.

As Gemini's shaking hand darted out to grab Libby's, her mind was still shouting at her, "Wolf won't hurt you! He's a good man! Let him help!" But she couldn't keep her whimpers in her throat, couldn't get past his size and his obvious strength. Gemini tugged Libby towards her and Callum, pulling her into the close, protective huddle and whispering intensely, her voiced ragged with emotion, "Libby...please, don't let them hurt me... they all want the same thing.... don't let them take me..." She buried her head in the hand that held Libby's, her choking sobs quieter now, but still tense and alert to every move that Wolf made. She willed herself calm, trying her best to reign in her emotions in the presence of people she actually respected. As her fears cried out for help, Gemini's subconscious hated her, if only for showing such cowardice and immaturity. She wished Saint was here... one of the few men that didn't sent chills of fear racing down her spine... but for now all she could do was quietly sob on the shoulders of Libby and Callum... the only family she had left.

Libby let Gemini pull her in, still confused as to what just happened. She put her arm around her half-sister. "Shh, Gem, it's ok. I'm here," she whispered soothingly, stroking the girl's hair. "I need you to calm down and tell me what happened. Did he hurt you?" Her voice was a bit firmer now. Libby spared a glance at Wolf, still disbelieving that he could have done anything to hurt Gemini, but her actions were so unusual. Nothing made sense.

Gemini emptied herself of all tears and felt her pulse slow in her chest. She was calm now, with her dog and her half-sister there to protect her. She felt so foolish... She knew that Wolf would never hurt her, that he hadn't scared her intentionally and that he had only come to help when he heard her scream.

Her sobs shuddered to a halt on a ragged sigh and she leaned away from Libby to wipe the tears and her sweat dampened curls from her face. Her voice was hoarse and low when she spoke, strained by the time spent crying and the scream that had torn from her throat.

"Wolf didn't do anything wrong, Libby..." She cast her eyes to the ground as the shame of her fear caught hold of her. "He came in to see what was wrong when my dream woke me up screaming..." She paused, overwhelmed as she again remembered the dream and the reality that had caused it. "I... have dreams every once in a while about some.... close encounters from my travels... I guess the party... with all those big..." She gulped,"men milling about sort of set me off... I hadn't realized that seeing so many men in one place would cause such a reaction but I suppose I should have... I was fine at the party when I had Shadow or Saint with me... But I guess it's different when you're alone in your head.. just remembering things... and how they could have ended..." A long shudder raced down Gemini's spine as she thought again of those men and their hands in places that were supposed to be private. Her hand held Libby's in a clutch that was surely bone crushing but she didn't yet have the strength to let go. She looked up at Wolf, fear ever so slightly apparent in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, Wolf. I'm causing much more trouble than I'm worth..." A solitary tear rolled down her cheek before she could turn and hide her eyes.

Wolf was totally shocked by the reaction that he got from Gemini and Callum. His first impression was that Gemini must have completely lost her mind, seeing as there was no one in the room with her but himself. "Alright, alright... Gemini just calm down please." He took a few steps back, mostly because of the dog. "I'm not going to hurt you..." He was so confused and in the moment that he hadn't realized that Libby had entered the room until she was at his side and pushing him away and then marching right past Callum to take Geminni in her arms.

He thought that he vaguely heard Libby asking Gemini if he had done anything. He shook his head and backed up slowly to take a seat at the desk at the other end of the room. Of course he hadn't done anything. He would never have hurt a woman unless he was forced to. Instead of defending himself right away he waited for Libby to get some sense out of Gem. He sat his weapons on the desk, turned the lamp on, and ran a hand over his face. He hoped to God that no one had hurt Gemini at the party, because then he would have someone to hurt.

Wolf couldn't hear most of what the two girls were saying but he did hear Gemini apologize. He stood from the desk and walked a little closer but still kept a good distance from the girls and the dog. "It's all right Gem. You're really no trouble at all. In fact, I like having you around here." It was true, her presence somehow helped fill the Nova void at the white house. "Did something happen to you though? Did someone hurt you at the party? I need to know if anything happened."

Gemini looked up at wolf in mild shock. Two of the things he had said just didn't make any sense to her. Firstly, that he liked having her here! That hadn't been expected, and she wondered why on earth he would say such a thing when he barely knew her. Secondly, why would he think something had happened to her at the party? The only thing that had happened at the party was that Gemini had spent four blissful hours with Saint- that thought gave her pause and filled her with dread. Surely Wolf knew who Saint was- that he was a Lion... what if he somehow knew and thought that the other man would hurt her? No. Gemini shook her head. Wolf hadn't been there- hadn't seen her with Saint. She didn't need to worry about such things. He probably just hadn't heard her explanation to Libby. He didn't know about the dreams and about her past.

"Nothing bad happened at the party. I had fun with Nova and with Saint." She closed her mouth quickly over the name and hoped to God he didn't know the name, that it didn't ring a bell in the Wolf Leader's brain. "Just seeing all of the- gulp-men... brought back some bad memories... I suppose being around so many... al of them so large in stature... didn't sit so well with my head... I'm so sorry..." She turned her head down in shame again," I'm sorry to both of you..."

"It's ok, Gem. It's perfectly understandable," Libby assured her, hugging the girl close to her and stroking her hair. Glancing at Wolf apologetically, she felt ashamed that she had thought Wolf would have hurt Gemini. At least Libby could sympathize with her half-sister. Wolf had pretty much been her only pleasant male encounter.

"Come on, let's get you back into bed, ok? You'll feel better in the morning once the sun is back up." Libby pulled herself away from Gemini and stood up, keeping her arms out in case the girl wanted support.

Wolf smiled softly, "Libby is right, you don't have to be sorry." Apparently problems with men seemed to run in their family. Wolf remembered the glare of death that he'd received from Libby the first time he'd met her. It had taken a lot of work to crack her shell, but it was more than worth it when she'd finally started to trust him.

Still, he felt the only thing that he could really do for Gemini was act as an example of a good guy and let her know that she was safe. He was surprised when she said Saint's name. He knew that the guy was a Mountain Lion, and from what he'd heard some kind of religious nutcase.

He stood up as the two girls did and took the gun from the desk. "Gemini, I just want you to know that you're safe with us. I'll do my best to make sure that nothing will ever happen to you while you're in my tribe." He walked to the door to go back to bed, but he paused and looked back for a second. "Oh, and you should know that the Mountain Lions are not good people. None of them can be trusted, so be careful." He smiled at them both, but then looked to Libby. "Night." He said, before wandering back down the hall to his room. He figured that if Gemini wanted to talk that she'd be more comfortable sharing her feelings with only Libby around.

Gemini tried her hardest to stiffen her spine when she stood. She felt ashamed of herself. She had allowed the mere presence of men to affect her in a way that made her break out in a cold sweat. She would have to wash her sheets in the morning... for now, her bed looked too inviting to ignore for the sake of a shower. She could still feel the traces of shivers down her spine and decided it would be best to keep a hand each on Callum and on Libby.

Moving slowly, Gemini reached the bed about the time that Wolf made his comment about the Mountain Lions and felt every muscle in her body tense. So he had recognized the name. Gemini could have beat herself over the head for letting it slip out. Still, she supposed he would find out sooner or later. What would he have to say about their relationship? What would Libby say? She hated the fact that Saint was being judged for his tribe's reputation, for what they had done and for things he had surely been some part of. But he wasn't truly a bad person. His intense faith just caused him to act with a little more conviction than some people could admire. gemini couldn't help quietly speaking her defense," You can't judge a single man by the army he fights with... You have to judge the man by what he's fighting for..." Gemini looked up at Libby as she sat down on the bed, hoping to see understanding in her brilliant blue gaze. Could she tell that she was hiding something? Could she trust Gemini to know what she was doing? Would she hate her for hiding something so important? Gemini sighed. She hated being pulled in so many directions by Loyalty.

In a moment of weakness- no- In a moment of need, Gemini took libby's hand and gently tugged her onto the bed with her. She needed to just talk to someone. Or even to just know that someone was there. Just for a few minutes. "Will you just... lay with me for a while? I know you want to get back to sleep... I just need a few minutes..."

Libby was not entirely clueless of the goings on in the tribes, especially her own. People might have viewed her as out of touch with the way she hid in her library among the books, but she was not a fool, especially when it came to Gemini. Though Libby might have thought the girl to be a burden, she still oddly cared for her. Libby had lost her entire family to the virus, as had many others. It would have been horribly ungrateful of her to cast out her only blood relative because of her bitterness toward their father.

She had seen Gemini with a boy that night, while she was checking on Nova. She had also noted the way she went to a nameless person's defense when Wolf mentioned the Mountain Lions. It did not take her long to put two and two together. If it was understand her young half-sister was looking for, she would have better luck searching elsewhere. Sure, she was a figurehead in the inter-tribal peace movement, but Libby still did not care for men, especially Mountain Lion men. Wolf was one of the few exceptions; he had actually taken the time to earn her respect.

Still, Libby set her knife on the bedside table and curled up next to Gemini. "Yeah, I'll stay." She bid Wolf goodnight as he left, secretly a little miffed that she could not follow him and get in some nice cuddling time.

Gemini felt it necessary to apologize again, so she did. She saw that way that Libby's eyes wistfully followed Wolf as he left and it made her want to start crying again. She had just found her half-sister, had just found a place where people accepted her, if only because Libby was so influential. And she had at last found a man that didn't make her cringe at first sight, a man that brought out joy when he touched her, not pain and fear. She sighed. Things would be so much easier if Saint was a Wolf... Or even a Twin Feather or a River Runner... The fact that he was Lion made it impossible for Gemini to talk to LIbby about it, even as she wished she could pour out everything she had been feeling this past week or so. Gemini rubbed the crease in her forehead with her free hand, willing the worry lines to go away so she could just enjoy being safe here with Libby and Wolf in the other room. But she had never been worry free... not for the past five years at least and even before that when she had to worry about taking care of the house and the land while her lovestruck parents played the hopeless romantics all day. She sighed, Oh goodness, now even she was resent her parents, as much as she had loved them... she could only imagine how Libby felt. She rolled over to stare at the ceiling, holding tightly to Libby's hand.

"Libby, will you tell me more about you? Your mind... a ghra...," Gemini slipped into a bit of her Scottish, to fatigued to keep it from her vocabulary," How you think and feel, who you are as a person... before there was a virus or tribes... and now that there are.

Libby faltered a moment. When Gemini had asked her to stay, she figured she would just have to stay nearby and offer some kind of comfort until the girl fell asleep. She certainly did not expect to give her life story, or part of it, anyway.

"Um..." she replied, most intelligently, while trying to collect her thoughts. There were quite a few questions there to answer, and she could not come up with a succinct answer that would address all of them. And on top of that, she would have to try an edit her speech as to not get herself riled up over her biological father and his shortcomings. So she settled on starting with the first question. "Well...I was pretty much raised by my grandmother. Mom spent most of her time working two jobs. I was working on getting my Master's degree in library science before the virus hit." She paused and regarded Gemini with a comical look. "I know, there's such a thing as library science, and you actually need a Master's degree to be a librarian. I thought it pretty ridiculous at first too. But I have this odd love affair with books, and history, and research. I knew I wouldn't have been happy working anywhere else."

She propped her head up on her hand, considering the rest of Gemini's questions. "I don't suppose things have changed much for me since the virus. I still work at the library and do the things I love, while hopefully bettering the tribe. I'm trying to coordinate with other tribe members to keep a written history of all that goes on and that has already happened, for future generations. You know, so hopefully they don't make the same mistake." Libby didn't even care to consider that the virus had ruined just about everyone's reproductive organs, and that they might very well be the very last generation on earth. Surely those effects would wear off eventually. And apparently there was still hope if Hawk and Nova had managed to conceive a child.

Gem smiled. That wasn't exactly what she had been asking, but she supposed it gave a little insight into Libby as a whole. She noticed that Libby avoided the subject of their father, speaking only of her mother and her grandmother but she didn't think now was the appropriate time to broach such a painful subject. Not when she was still shivering a little from the remnants of her dream.

She laughed at Libby's tale of Master's degrees and love affairs with books. She wished the virus could have waited to hit... it would have been nice to go off to college, although she had no idea what she would study. She really already knew all she could learn about her passion, had absorbed every bit of knowledge in leathersmithing as she could from her mother. But she could see Libby rushing from class to class on a busy campus, pouring over books in the library for each scrap of homework and then long into her spare hours.

Her talk of record keeping and such, her obvious hope for a better world said so much about her that, for a moment, Gem believed she would understand if she told her about Saint. She sat up, keeping Libby's hand in hers and drawing her knees up to her chest with her other arm. She was going to get all of this out before her guts subsided.

"Libby, I know I can trust you and I hope you'll understand, even if you get angry at first. You mentioned the other day that Wolf has been your first... boyfriend... your first pleasant male... encounter? I suppose that works..." She stumbled a bit over her words but managed to continue, "After all of this nightmare nonsense... after I so stupidly reacted to Wolf and caused all of this absurdity-" the hand around her knees ran over her face in a motion of shame and exasperation, "I suppose you must realize that I have never had even the slightest pleasant encounter with any man... no man has ever looked at me with anything more than hunger and evil in his eyes..." She shuddered again before drawing her back as straight and proud as she could.

"I know you may not see my situation as anything close to yours and Wolf's all things considered, but I have to tell you. I was walking in the northern part of the Wolves' territory last week... looking for a place to set up my leather-smith's shop, and I found the perfect old pub called the Shipwright's Arms!" She shook her head, the momentary thought of the old buliding distracting her from her true purpose, "But that can wait until later... my point is... I met a man there, the most beautiful Irishman with chocolate eyes and he was so tall and strong and I wasn't afraid of him!" She was sure her cheeks were flushing from the joy and excitement of remembering but she couldn't stop the spill of her words.

"And we sat and we talked about religion and how neither of us have ever lost faith in God, even with the virus and all... and then, I asked, straight out, if he was a Lion.... and he said he was, but I didn't care, even after what Shadow had told me about them, and I kissed him, because who he was affiliated with didn't matter to me... and oh, it was pure bliss, because it wasn't just hunger like those men in the forest needed to satisfy... it was tenderness and rightness and something I have no words for... and then I saw him again at the party and we talked about so much more and we have so much in common and we danced and it just felt so... perfect!" Her words stuttered to a halt, her cheeks feverish and her eyes a little worried as she looked at Libby, waiting for the axe to fall, for the anger and misunderstanding to come. She had said her piece and she was sure, her moment of gumption gone, that Libby's would not be as accepting as she had hoped it might be.

As an automatic reaction, Libby mentally rolled her eyes and steeled herself for what might be said next when Gemini mentioned she might get angry. She was ready to snatch her hand back and leave if the girl decided to get back on the subject of their father. But she didn't. Instead, Gemini had started rambling about Wolf, and then a pub. What was she getting at?

Oh, joy. She had met a guy. The Mountain Lion that had been mentioned earlier no less. Libby sighed. Part of her wanted to share in her giddiness over her new love like she would with one of her friends, but the fact that the guy was a Mountain Lion put a damper on things. They had to be careful with that tribe, especially since the Wolves had been housing the drifters who had killed a Mountain Lion. Saint could be a spy for all they knew.

The worry in Gemini's eyes helped Libby to try to keep her words gentle. "I know you're excited about this, and I want to be happy for you. But we're in a dangerous place with the Mountain Lions. This guy may seem nice and sincere, but men can be very good actors. He could just be using you to gain information. I'm not saying you would knowingly endanger us, but a clever person can get quite a bit of valuable information from what seems like harmless conversation." Libby met her sister's gaze with grim sincerity. "I'm sorry, but you can't trust him. And we would rather you not see him again."

Gemini brow furrowed and she stood slowly, releasing Libby's hand and pacing along the bedside. She understood what she was saying. She was sure that Saint was the exception to the rule when it came to the Mountain Lions and that some would not mind using an innocent of sorts to gleam information on the Wolves. But, the other day, she had barely mentioned the Wolves to Saint, and had told him that she was a drifter, only staying with the wolves, not a member and not well known by many of them. She hadn't given details or even anything remotely useful in such evil plots and planning as the Mountain Lions were liable to come up with. Mainly, they'd spoken of Faith. In the few moments she'd spent with Saint, she'd learned more about devotion than she had in all of her previous eighteen years. She knew that Saint was far to dedicated to God to be truly vile as many of the Mountain Lions were rumored to be. But she didn't think there was a way that she could explain that to Libby. She didn't know if Libby had any faith left... if she'd ever had any at all. Gemini turned and faced Libby, a serene expression on her face, her worry not gone, but almost completely outweighed by her belief that Saint would not intentionally betray her. She decided then and there that she would see Saint again. But she would be careful. And she would make sure that Libby did not find out. Perhaps there was a way that she could do a bit of gleaming herself. Perhaps there was a way to pull Saint from the dark side to the lighter.... She let out a rather convincing sigh and let her face fall into a bit of a childish pout.

"Ok... I won't see him again. I'll honor your request and stay away from him... even if it means depriving myself of the first pleasurable male company I've ever experienced..."

There. Let Libby believe that she was only a lovestruck child, blinded by her affections. Let her believe that she would not see Saint again, while, in reality, she try her hand at a bit of peacemaking. Perhaps there could be peace someday... One Lion at a time.

Her eyes followed Gemini's movements warily, expecting the girl to protest. When her half-sister conceded to her wishes instead of causing a bit of a dramatic scene, Libby's eyebrow arched slightly in disbelief. In the short amount of time she had known Gemini, she had figured out that the girl was driven to fight for what she wanted. Giving in, even if it was the sensible thing to do, was not a character trait she often demonstrated.

"Thank you for understanding," Libby replied, and then moved to get out of bed. "You seem calm enough. Do you think you'll be able to get back to sleep?" She did not want to seem like she was brushing her off again, but now that the earlier adrenaline rush had worn off, her eyelids grew heavy.
