Entry tags:gemini, hawk, libby, nova

Week Thirteen: Tuesday
Who: Libby, Gemini, Nova, and Hawk
What: Just checking up on the preggers lady
When: Late afternoon-ish
Where: Hawk and Nova's tree house
Rating: PG-13 (Libby's mouth again; just minor threatening of Hawk's manhood though)
Status: closed

After bugging Marmie, Libby dragged Gemini along to check in on Nova. It had been incredibly too long since she had seen the girl. Nova had already left to live at the farm when Libby returned to Sundance, and somehow she had missed her again when Nova came to visit Wolf recently to tell him the news. Her body trembled with nervous energy; Nova was pretty much her sister as well, and Libby could hardly contain her excitement at getting to see her again. How much had the young woman changed in the four months they had been separated?

The horses were thankful that they had dropped of the text books and other supplies at the school house; it made their trip to the canopy much easier and smoother. They finally came to rest under the tall tree Hawk's house sat it, and proceeded up the latter after she got off the horse and secured it to a post.

"Pretty impressive, no?" she asked Gemini, signaling for her to follow.

When she reached the deck, Libby turned to give her sister a hand up and then knocked on the door of the tree house. "Hawk! Open the door!" She called without much ceremony. "You let us see the pregnant girl, and I'll let you keep your testicles in tact," she added with a sardonic grin. It was nice to slip into her old, femi-nazi ways from time to time.

Hawk had been spending the lazy, rainy afternoon with Nova. The knock at the door startled him, and the threat that followed it made him sweat. At least the voice was distinctly feminine, so it could not have been Wolf at his door, which was his greatest fear at the moment. It actually sounded more like Libby.

He cast Nova a quizzical glance before getting up off the bed to open the door. He knew Libby to be a man-hater, but surely she was not serious about her threat. She had helped him, after all, in getting Nova's stuff to his house. Assuring himself that this was her queer way of joking around, Hawk answered the door.

"Hey, Libby," he greeted, though one could hear the question in his voice. Opening the door wider, he held out his arm. "Come on in." He waited for Libby - and her companion - to enter the house before shutting the door behind him. "Take a seat," he offered, motioning toward the bean bags he used for chairs. He had not really thought about furniture before, but know that it seemed like entertaining guests might become a common thing, Hawk contemplated getting a decent sofa.

At least her mood swings were cooperating with the weather. There had been rainy days before when she was bursting with energy, but couldn't get a foot out the door without being soaked. Those were not good days, since being confined and all energetic usually left her cranky as hell. Today, however, she'd been feeling tired and lazy, and didn't really want to do anything other than lie around and listen to the rain go pitter patter against the roof. The best part was, Hawk didn't have to go anywhere, either. They could both just laze, and enjoy each other's company.

A knock on the door interuppted that, which would have ticked her off if she hadn't recognized the voice that went along with it. She swung her legs off the bed and pushed her hands through her hair. If Libby had come to visit, there was a chance that she'd brought Wolf, too, and she didn't especially want to have to play referee while he gave Hawk the shake down. Pushing herself to her feet, she went to greet her friend. Libby didn't have Wolf with her, but she wasn't alone. Nova gave the stranger girl one quick glance before turning back to Libby.

"Hey!" She stepped forward for a hug. The last time she'd been in town, Nova had been way tense. Here, in the home she shared with Hawk, it was easier to be relaxed about her whole...situation. "I was wondering if you were going to stop by." She nodded over at the other girl, who had taken a seat. "Whose that?"

Libby squealed, for the first time in what probably was forever, as she pulled Nova into tight hug. "How have you been? How is the baby?" The weather might have been dreary, but her attitude hardly mirrored it; pure joy blossomed out of every pore.

"This is Gemini. She's new to the tribe, as well as a long lost relative of mine," she explained, purposely not specifying Gemini's exact relation to her, since Libby had already gone over the story once with Wolf already and did not desire to do a repeat performance.

That squeal absolutely delighted her. Somebody was happy to see her. After everything that had transpired with her brother and Grey, she had to wonder what the rest of the tribe thought. Luckily, it didn't matter much, at least not while she was on Feather territory. She wouldn't have to listen to anyone's critisicm. "Good. Fine." Grinning, Nova patted her stomach. "We're both great. Or as great as we can be, according to Ruby." She had about the closest thing there was to a doctor in the area keeping a close eye on her, but she had to admit that the thought of giving birth without any of the old world comforts kind of scared her.

As far as explinations went, that was...vague. New person? Long lost relative? What else was she missing? Things sounded like they were getting kind of interesting in town. "Um, okay." Nova shot a quick smile at the girl anyway, realizing a bit too late that 'Whose that' sounded kind of rude. "Well, welcome to Sundance." Still riding on her happy mood, she gestured toward the kitchen. "You guys want some tea or something?"

Gemini returned the woman's quick smile and murmured a thank you. She wished so much that she could squeal the way Libby had done... or be so comfortable around a man the way Nova and Hawk seemed to be... or even be so content to just laze around the house on a rainy day.

She hadn't missed Libby's vague explanation of their relationship either. Not that she blamed her. Gemini was proud to have Libby as a half-sister, and elated to have found her after so many years... but she was getting enough stares as it was. Being new to Sundance was great, but she wasn't used to all of the attention. She was perfectly content to watch the two giddy women and Hawk interact with each other in a way that was completely casual and seemed to fit them all like a comfortable old shoe.

Gemini looked up the ladder and climbed it warily. She wasn't really comforatbe with leaving Callum on the ground but she couldn't see a way to get such a large dog into a tree so she just told him to stay with the tethered horses. The series of tree houses was indeed impressive, but Gemini did not feel safe this far off of the ground. Where was there to retreat to if this place was ambushed? Everyone would be stuck up in the trees to starve!

Hesitantly, Gemini followed Libby into the cozy little house. She fingered her anklet when she sat down in the bean bag chair, untying it and retying it to her wrist, where she could fiddle a little more easily... Not that she was uncomfortable with these people. Hawk seemed nice enough but a little wary of Libby... And the girl, Nova, had been quiet so far. No, it was just their position that made Gemini a little nervous. So, she sat down and remained quiet.
