Week Thirteen - Monday
Who: Peri and Moe
When: Late Monday Night
Where: Moe's boat
What: Peri needs to get smashed
Rating: PG-13 (language)

The last week had been the longest week in Peri's life since the virus had taken her parents, her life away from her. She had meet Shepard just over a week ago, he had changed the way she lived her life, something Peri hadn't been ready for. Rather fortunately for her, she had broken his fingers in trying to kick him out and instead had let him stay. Unfortunately around the same time Shepard came into her life, her best friend Gypsy left it. Peri, the true pessimist by nature, didn't think she was coming back, nor did she think that she was alive. Someone would have told them by now if Gypsy was merely hurt, and if Gypsy had been trying to leave she would have taken Silver with her.

With so much changing in her personal life and having lost the person who truly knew who she was beneath the mask, she just felt alone. Completely and utterly isolated. Which was why before night feel she knew she couldn't say nothing any longer. Peri wasn't totally oblivious to the fact that she was not what others would typically consider a good person. She didn't care, but that was why she didn't tell many what was in her heart... they just didn't understand her. Gypsy had, and now she was hoping Moe would, or at least that she would just listen and not judge her. They had been friends since the tribe at been formed, just never as close as she and Gypsy has been.

Sitting up quietly in bed, she looked down at the man next to her. He wasn't Brent, like Gypsy had expected in the end it would be. No Brent and Allison belonged in the past, he couldn't let her just be who she was and she couldn't bare to remember life before the virus. Instead next to her was Shepard, a man that hadn't been mad at her for being... well a bitch, and who didn't seem to judge her on what he had heard... she knew by know he would have heard at least some of her downfalls. In truth she was happy to not be alone any longer, and more truthfully that it was Shepard sharing her bed with her. She wasn't quite ready to admit that yet though.

She had waited until he had fallen asleep, and checked that he was before slipping out from underneath the covers. The spring air still had a chill to it and so she slipped over to grab her jacket. It wasn't that she had and fear about telling him that she was going out and telling him where to stick it if he had a problem with that, no she just wasn't ready to tell him that she had lost her best friend at a time she really needed him. Sliding out the door, she walked to the bow of her boat and quickly jumped onto the next, making her way to Moe's. They had all been tied together at night for the last couple weeks and tonight was was happy that was the case.

Moe had been having some problems of her own, though she did her best not to dwell on them. That had always been her approach on things. If she didn't think about it for long enough, there was always that off chance that it would just go away. Like the Gypsy thing. Their brave leader had, by all appearances, wandered off in to the night and never come back. Rather than worrying about it day and night, she hoped for the best and sent those good thoughts on their merry way. No amount of fretting was going to change things, so it was easier to hope for the best, and get on with life.

The same approach applied to her problems with Ryder. She hadn't heard from him in awhile, though that was all her own doing. She always had some excuse not to wander off in to Twin Feather's terriroty, and since he hadn't come to see her, she assumed that things on that front were well and done. Which was just dandy, as far as she was concerned. Things had been going great, until he went and brought up all that business about chosing her over that Mountain Lion girl. Moe was a firm believer in people being free to do what they pleased. She didn't want any kind of relationship with Ryder, not if it meant tying herself down.

So, rather than dwell that evening, she spent her time tinkering with her still. Which would have been a whole hell of a lot easier, if her ferrett hadn't decided that it was a good night to try to tangle himself in her hair. After dislodging the creature for the third time, she finally scooped him up and told him, in no uncertain terms, that if he didn't knock it off, he was going to go outside for the night. He responded by snapping at her nose. Sighing, she headed toward the door, only to have her boat rock under her feet. Someone else had come aboard, then. Tucking Wheezie under one arm, she went to shove aside the curtains that blocked her door.

Oh hey. It was Peri. That was random. "Howdy there, honey." Tilting her head to the side, and ignoring the fact that her ferret was trying to each her shirt, she smiled. "Little late for a social call, iddin't?" Not that she minded. Company was always good. Besides, she hadn't seen Peri around in awhile. "That new man o' yours finally loosen the rope?"

Peri had slipped onto Moe's boat seamlessly, but anyone who lived on water knew the feeling of extra weight. It was the feeling that had kept Peri safe many a time when she had pulled out her shotgun instead of being taken by surprise. Thus she wasn't all surprised to see Moe open the curtain when she boarded, nor had she been surprised to see other sets of eyes peek out their windows when she had skipped across their boats.

She couldn't help but laugh lightly as she watched the ferret, who's name Peri thought was either Sneezie or Wheezie or something along those likes, trying to eat Moe's hair. "Well likely it is, but I've never seen that stop any of us." There was a twinkle in her eye that anyone who knew Peri saw as what it truly was, a dare. Most thought is was just some happy twinkle, but the honest truth it was Peri's little dare for others to join her in being bad. Not that staying up to drink was truly considered bad in this time and place, but Peri liked to make it feel like it was.

"There's no rope," Peri said with a grin, "Or else he would already be gone." A truthful statement at it's finest, Shepard hadn't pushed her into being anything she wasn't... yet. If Shepard had or did try to change her he would find Peri was quicksand and gone just as quickly as she had been there with him. It was that simple.

"I was just curious if you were in the drinking mood is all." She said pulling two new large ale mugs out than Peri had made for Moe. Something she often id when she was in need of a good swig.

"Whatever you say, darlin." It was amazing that she kept any bit of smugness out of her tone. Moe may not have been particularly close to Peri, but from what she'd seen of her and her new fellow, things were a bit different. She got good vibes from this Shepard, so she kind of hoped he actually lasted more than a week or so. Never mind that she herself had recently dropped a relationship that had absolutely nothing wrong with it, simply because it may have involved some level of commintment. She hadn't even stuck around long enough to find out just what he did want from her. Instead, she'd hidden. Real brave of her, right?

Wheezie managed to wiggle out from under her arm, offering one last nip before he dove to the deck and scuttled out of sight. That was just dandy. He could go run off some of that damned energy and leave her in peace. Moe watched him go with narrowed eyes before turning back to Peri. "When'm I not in a drinkin' mood?" She was one of the more popular drinking partners among her clan, mostly because she had the easiest access to alcohol, and secondly because she could hold her drink. Nobody wanted to sit around and booze with someone who would be tossing their cookies at the first little wavelet that came along and rocked the boat.

Turning, she waved Peri in behind her. "Come on in, sunshine. We'll have ourselves a mighty nice party." Come to think of it, this was exactly what she needed. It would do her good to have some fun, rather than trying to dodge her problems. Besides, drinking was always more amusing when someone else was there to share in the excitment. She slid the door closed behind Peri, giving her crowded space a quick glance to make sure nothing horrificly disgusting was on display. Not that it would be easy to tell. The whole place was packed with shabby furniture and various knicknacks with clothing and fabric in garish colors draped all over the place. Her kitchen had been totally gutted to make room for the still, and most of her storage space held goods that she meant to trade.

She went to one of those, and pulled out two jars of her own special brew. When it came to her and her people, she only went for the best. Everyone else could drink the crap that she churned out daily. Moe held one out, waiting to trade the booze for one of the mugs. "Hope you ain't attatched to the skin in your mouth."

Peri couldn't help but laugh at the 'Whatever you say, darlin' comment. She really didn't know what to say when it came to Shepard, he had shocked her and in the process of a week had changed her life. Whether this change would last for a few more weeks, months, years, was really anyone's guess, but she couldn't say she wasn't enjoying the change. It had been a very long time since she hadn't felt completely alone and she was truly enjoying the fact, even if she didn't voice it.

Peri couldn't say she had known much of Moe's relationship with Ryder, or the depth of it. She couldn't say she knew nothing of it though either. For some reason people of all tribes seemed to like to tell her things, even if she had no concern for them. It truth likely it was because they wanted to gossip with someone, and why not the local whore, she kept secrets well now didn't she. All she had really heard was that the horse trainer from the Feathers and Moe had been seen a couple of times being a bit more than friendly and at least once not so friendly.

It wasn't Peri's way to ask people about their relationships, instead she just let people talk to her.

"Well I can't say I've even heard of you not being in the mood, but then again I doubt you'd let anyone spread that vicious rumour." A grin and a twinkle in her eye, let anyone feel at ease around the petite blonde. She was in a good mood though, this wasn't just an act. Peri felt like she needed relief and this seemed to fit the mark dead on. As Moe motioned her inside, she stood from her leaning position and followed the other's motion.

Sitting down on an old chair, Peri's eyes didn't see what other would call a mess, she saw a home. It was one like her own and like many of their tribes'. Well used, well lived in without anything that would be classified as 'fine'. What would have been the point after all? Someone would eventually steal anything nice. With a laugh she put the mugs she had crafter on a small table in front of her and said, "Not that I'm aware of, but I'll tell you tomorrow if I miss it."

Roach had been in the bedroom she and Moe shared, or rather in the closet that she had claimed for herself and her hammock, that was placed as conviently as possible towards the object of her obsession. She had heard Moe talking to Wheezie and then felt the boat rock slightly as it announced the presence of another. She had been perfectly content in her little cocoon of dusty old blankets that she refused to wash with her old Candy Land stash tin and a joint smoldering in between her fingers. Once again that old worn sandwhich baggie she insisted on keeping her weed in was almost empty, once again she was at some point going to have to beg and plead and coerce Moe into giving her just "a little, tiny, itty, bitty, almost microsopic nug." It never failed.

The arrival of another meant that of course she had to make an entrance. Pushing those covers off of her she less than gracefully got out of her hammock and debated putting on some more clothes other than a pair of jeans and in the end settled on a wife beater that was covered in stains. Wrestling on the shirt and trying not to burn herself with that joint proved to be a hard task. There was a loud "Fuck!" as the cherry brushed against her forearm and when Roach made her way into the main room of the houseboat there was a scowl upon her face.

She let out a grunt in acknowledgement towards the other two before plopping down on thar chair that she had claimed as hers long ago. That joint was brought to her lips once more as she held out her burnt arm in front of her at an awkward angle. "Does this look infected?" Usually it took a while after recieving an injury for it to begin shows of infection, if it was in fact infected. Usally people of good common sense knew this, but she wasn't exactly one of those people. Her question was repeated once more with raised as she held out her arm in Peri's direction. Not giving the other a chance to respond or even look at her arm she brought her legs up into that chair and crouched down over her new injury and began to poke at it with a finger that surely wasn't clean.

"You know me. I've got a reputation t' maintain." If there was such a rumor floating around, she'd have heard about it. Moe had a real nose for gossip, like most of the members of her tribe. Since she did so much business with everybody, she heard a lot more than most. People always talked, even about things that were supposed to be a secret, especially once they had some of her products flowing around in their system.

When Peri put the mugs on the table, she slid one toward herself, unscrewing the slightly rusted top of the jar. She dumped the contents in to the mug before capping the jar again and setting it down on a nearby pile of...shirts? Yeah, they looked like shirts. Anyway, it was soft and low to the ground, so it wouldn't break. Moe probably had one of the larger stockpiles of glass, but that didn't mean she wanted to waste it. So few people brought their own containers for hauling of moonshine, and the noxious chemicals had been known to chew right through plastic. So, she tried to kep as much glass on hand as possible. "By tomorrow, it'll be too late." There was delightful mischief in her eyes. "But I guarentee it'll be worth it."

Moe turned just as Roach came shuffling out of the bedroom. She'd poked her head in once or twice during the day to make sure she hadn't fallen in to a coma or something, but other than that they'd both been content to go their seperate ways. That was a nice change to those days when Roach insisted on being an obnoxious blonde shadow, following her everywhere she went. Rolling her eyes, she swatted at Roach's hand, keeping it away from the small burn. "Not yet, but it will be if you keep pokin' at it like that. Christ."

She exchanged a look with Peri before dropping in to her own seat. Only long experience kept her from choking whenever she took a swallow of her home brew. Other people said it tasted like piss, or bleach, or furniture polish. To Moe, it hardly tasted like anything. She eyed the liquid, swirling it around a bit. "Yep. There went the last o' my taste buds."

Peri nodded, "Well we all have a reputation, but I refuse to always fit my stereotype. Mostly because I don't really give a shit." A laugh escaped her lips as thoughts of what other must be thinking about her right now, but again the truth was that it wouldn't affect her choices. No her silly mind made itself up much faster than common sense ever could. She would be the first to admit that she had made plenty of mistakes with the people around her and with her life before and after the virus. It was all water under the bridge now and the truth of the matter was that she regretted nothing, and likely never would. It just wasn't part of her character. She tried to make up for her mistakes, but when she couldn't fix them, she let them wash away and fix themselves.

As Roach found her way out into the little party that had begun on the boat, Peri just could help but smile. Roach was a source of amusement for her, not because Peri thought her below herself or had any other negative feelings toward the other. More so Peri was always amusing at the things that came out of Roach's mouth and she was always fun to be around.

Looking down at the wound that was displayed to her, she shrugged, "I'd have to agree with Moe." Taking a good swing of the liquor that had been push in front of her she added on, "But a little of this and you might just lose a bigger piece of flesh, but I'd guarantee that it would never be infected."

Moe hadn't been joking when she had said that it would strip some taste buds, it certainly already had. It was the right stuff for what Peri was in the mood for and she let the burn trickle down her throat. A feeling that she had grown to love.

That scowl was brought up to Moe as she chastised her, before swatting her hand away. It was her damn burn, she'd poke at it if she wanted. Simply so she wasn't spoken to in such a 'harsh' manner again, she wrapped both of her arms around her legs. "Nah, that'd clean it. If it does get infected, it'll turn colours. I wonder what colours it'll turn?" A blank expression crossed her face as she thought about that for a moment. Her first guess for what colour her flesh would turn was green, or a yellow at first. But, there was always the possibility that she'd get lucky and maybe get one of those nice hues of purple that came along with more serious skin infections.

Lifting her arm a little bit she stole a look at that burn once more, just to see if it had started changing colours, before looking up at Peri with a giant smile. There was really no reason for that smile that bordered on creepy, it's just what Roach did. For a good full minute, at least, she cycled her gaze between the two other females with sideways glances, almost as if she was expecting them to suddenly turn against her. Towards the end of this she spoke up. "Sooo what were you guys talking about? Can I talk about it too? I can talk about lots of stuff, just as long as it's not about like... anything that you have to do a lot of thinking about." It was the truth. What little brain cells she did have left were better not used to think about serious things that didn't involve weed... or weed... or sometimes moonshine.

A hand was brought up to scratch at her head, before trailing down through that slightly greasy blonde hair. "If you guys don't remember, we could always talk about my stupid hair. Like, euw, what colour is that supposed to be? Has it always been this colour? I think someone stole my real hair and gave me this crap. Dude, I'm talking about colours a lot today!" With a sage nod, she let her hair drop and looked back at the other two as if she hadn't just let loose a mouthful of complete insanity.
