Week Seven - Saturday
Who: Psych, Echo and Open
When: Saturday Afternoon, Week Seven
Where: Twin Feather Territory
What: Julian AKA Psych decides to play in the snow on top of roofs...

Julian use to love the snow. It meant there would be more excuses to cuddle with the girl her loved. There would be less fights because her teeth were chattering so hard she could not argue and all she wanted to do was kiss. Now it just made parts of him freeze up and he likely would become some mad man that just plotted to destroy the world so all could feel his misery if it wasn't for a pile of clothes that was seated down in the snow looking up at him.

Actually it was the little girl that was covered in the pile of clothes. A bunch of oversized sweatshirts that actually belong to him. But he was more worried about her getting cold then himself. Psych worried that his experiment of Solar Energy would now be ruined because of the snow that was piled on top of it so he was working frantically to get the snow off the pannels and expose it to the sun and prayed nothing was broken.

Echo was being helpful down below by it being her job to mock her father's scream if he were to slide off the roof. He was one of a handful of Twin Feathers that were working to clear off the roof of snow from the blizzards. He likely should have been wearing another sweater instead of giving it to his daughter but he worried, just a wee-bit overprotective.

His mind was on her mother which was likely why he missed his stepping. The shovel of snow was going over his shoulder as his feet decided to be cruel to this awkward dancer and he found himself sliding. He did not scream, but did react, hands moving to grab at tree branches. He was halfway suspended over the edge, ready to drop, with both his hands holding onto a tree branch. Snow came tumbling into his face and he let out a curse, "Shit!"

Which, of course, was repeated by little Echo who began to bounce up and down, her little arms flapping and the oversized shirt giving her the illusion of having retarted bird wings, "Shit, shit, shit!"

Ruby liked the snow, but not in the large amounts that in came in here in Wyoming. Philadelphia might have gotten snow, but it had never been enough to put the whole city out of commission. The recent blizzard had had a bunch of people in various tribes all snowed in wherever they were when the snow struck. And not everyone was lucky enough to have heat as a benefit. It was pretty bad up in the tree houses mainly because the wind sometimes felt like it blew right through and chilled you to the bone when you were trying to sleep or relax during the day. Leaving wasn't exactly a plausible option unless you wanted to get stuck in the snow and consequently get buried beneath it and freeze to death. Yes...staying up in the trees seemed like an overall better option for the Feathers.

Still, that didn't stop some of the younger ones from begging to play in the snow. Tink being one of them. She was always so persistent with her big bright eyes and her "Pretty pretty please?"s every five seconds. It made it really hard to say no to her. So, as a compromise, whatever snow fell outside their tree house they would play in. So far they had built four snowmen together as well as had a miniature snowball fight.

What could she say? You couldn't say no to a kid that cute?

Ruby had been using scraps from old clothes to stitch together some more blankets for most of the morning and early afternoon, but eventually she just needed to get up and get outside for some fresh air. Tink was taking a nap for a lack of anything better to do, so she placed another blanket over the girl and then bundled up to head outside. And with the few clothes she'd had left in the first place, it took a lot of layers to keep her warm.

The last thing she had expected to see was Psych hanging from a tree branch.

"Oh my gosh!"

It always seemed like a good idea to stay up high until someone looked down to see how far of a fall it was. Actually, Psych's mind reasoned, it was not that bad of a fall. He could survive it, or at least he was relatively certain he could survive it. Right now he was mentally talking himself out of a panic and trying not to laugh because he just spotted Echo out of the corner of his eye.

The father part of him wanted to tell her to stop and not to repeat daddy's bad words. A little lady was not suppose to speak that way. And he was getting that speech prepared in his mind as he tried to struggle up the branch that kept sounding like it was breaking...

He heard someone elses voice and glanced over at Ruby. He did one of those dumb moves that could only happen to someone whose mind was in a million places at once, he waved. That one movement causing him to slip and go spiralling downwards into the freezing snow. Luckily that snow was not heavily packed onto the ground as it was the snow he had been tossing off the roofs of the houses. Instead he sank down into it but his breath was instantly knocked out of him.

Echo ran over and decided to be helpful, jumping on his stomach, and trying to get the air back into him by bouncing up and down which really was not helping him at all. Everything was certainly spinning and if he had the breath he might have told Echo to make the stars stop circling and laughing around his head.

It wasn't an extremely far fall, but that didn't mean it wouldn't hurt badly if he fell down from that height. Had she been the one up there, there was no doubt Ruby would have been freaking herself out about it after looking down only once. Taking herself down and out of a panic wasn't exactly her strong suit. But, knowing her luck, the branch would have broken and dropped her already or her grip would have loosened to the point of falling.

Not able to help her instinct, Ruby knelt down next to Echo for a second. "Echo, that's a word you don't want to say. Even if your daddy slips and says it. Good little girls don't say those types of words, okay?" She couldn't help it. Her maternal instinct made her take the moment to tell the small girl that because her father seemed a tad preoccupied at the moment. The sound of the tree branch breaking some brought her back to focusing on Psych.

Somehow, waving didn't exactly seem like the smartest thing to do in his situation. Either he wasn't aware that he was hanging from a branch or his mind was scattered in too many different directions. She watched with a gasp as he slipped and fell into the pile of snow below him. At least it wasn't packed down. Otherwise that would have hurt worse. Ruby went over to him immediately to see if he was hurt. Hopefully he wasn't, but there was always a possibility. The medic in her was always thinking about the welfare of others. She wouldn't have been a very good medic without that concern, would she?

Echo bouncing up and down on her father probably wasn't helping. With a gentle smile she tried to get her to stop. "Sweetie, it might help if you don't bounce on your dad. He looks a little dizzy..." She looked to Psych again. "Are you okay?"

He spent a lot of time on top of the roofs, it helped clutch any fear of heights he had. Not to mention spending sometime in New York and all their sky scrapers made these treehouses seem like nothing. Not that there was not the possibility of breaking or spraining any appendages, he just had something of luck on his side. He would likely freak if he ever caught Ruby on top of the roof of any of the houses.

Echo usually jumped on her daddy's stomach, except he normally grabbed her sides and made her fly. That made her think that maybe she needed to jump a little bit harder to make things right. When Ruby came over she did stop and looked up at the other with a grin because she believed she had done something right and Ruby was coming over to congradulate her. She opened up her arms to Ruby, "Dizzy, dizzy."

Psych was still trying to find words or at least breath to make them. Instead he just gave her a weak thumbs up. He just needed to lay there for a moment. As the snow made him feel similar to what an ice cube must go through its life as feeling, numb. It was really hard to find clothes that were water resistance.

He did not push himself up just yet though taking a strangled breath and covering up his eyes with his hand saying, "I think I just fell for you." It came out a strangled pick-up line what he was really going for was the truth, he did fall for Ruby, he waved his hand at her and then went flailing into a pile of snow he made.

Why Ruby would be on the roof of any of the houses ever. She'd slip and fall indefinitely and probably would break something. Even more than one something. Not to mention the fact that she just didn't like heights. No matter how much smaller the tree houses were than the buildings back in Philly.

Somehow it didn't surprise her that Echo was jumping on her father. That's what little girls did. She'd done the same thing with her dad when she was little. Then again, her dad didn't often fall off of the roofs of tree houses. Echo's smile was contagious and Ruby wouldn't help but smile at the small girl. "Yes, dizzy. Just a little though." She chuckled slightly and, on impulse, gave the girl a small hug. She couldn't resist kids that cute. "But your daddy shouldn't be dizzy for too much longer."

She just knelt next to him, not actually in the snow. The thumbs up did make her smile a little bit. Laying there in the snow had to be making him numb, though. He would have to get up if he didn't want his clothes to get completely and totally wet.

When he spoke, Ruby couldn't help but laugh. She knew that it wasn't meant as a pick-up line and it was the truth. He had literally fallen for her. "Yes, quite literally. But at least you aren't hurt." She just couldn't help but laugh. "What exactly were you doing up there anyway."

Echo blinked at Ruby, giving her a serious expression as if taking the words to heart before nodding her head. She then sat in the snow, almost becoming lost in the oversized sweatshirt, as she watched her father in the snow. Psych was struggling to sit up and get a lung full of air. He was moving slowly because things were spinning. His back ached and he stared up at the roof contemplating if he really wanted to go back up there or not.

He knew he needed too though. Perhaps lady luck would be on his side the second time he braved the heights.

"The snow has to be removed from the roofs of the houses or," he winced as he spoke, standing slowly to his feet and beginning to brush snow off of him. Echo was eyeing him like a cat getting ready to pounce, already there was a sly smile on her lips. She had not quite caught on that daddy was hurt because he was never suppose to be hurt. "it could cave in. The extra weight could make the tree house fall, roof collapse in, a number of horrible things. My thermal heating experiment is also attached to this house and two others. If the sun doesn't reach the black thermal pools pannelings then there will be no heat to be stored."

He tried to take a step then stopped, shaking his head. "And once the world stops spinning I'm likely to take up onto the roofs again. Well, spinning at a force I can feel because the world is technically always spinning..."
