Week Six - Saturday
Who: Hazard and Sensei
Where: the hospital
When: midday
What: Hazard has ideas!

Hazard stepped onto the one-shelved medicine trolley and reached out to the wall to give himself a push. The trolley rolled down the hallway and he managed to keep his balance on it. Though it did not go as quickly as he wanted, it still provided him with a much needed rush of excitement. Hazard wanted to find Sensei to tell him about the new idea he'd had and receive his new orders about what to find for the Carrion. Food was always a high priority, or at least was to him because his appetite was growing each day. Was there still a relatively unlooted garden center from which he could take seeds and plant somewhere? Perhaps it was time to pick up gardening and create a small greenhouse, heavily protected should anyone try to break in and steal the food. Hazard liked the idea of setting up booby traps more than the idea of gardening, but that was only natural of a self-proclaimed spy.

The trolley clacked as it continued to roll and he jumped off, grabbing the back of it to prevent it from crashing into the wall at the end of the hallway. Fortunately, he saw Sensei down the adjacent corridor and headed towards him with the exuberance that only a fourteen-year-old boy could possess. "Hi, Sensei, what's happening?" he asked with a smile. "Had an idea you might like. It has to do with codes and scavenging. Maybe we can have a message board with the 'to-do' list and news of what's going on with the other tribes... but it would all be in a cryptic code. You never know who will sneak into the hospital and try to take things. I'm guessing most people are too lazy to take the time to copy down a code and crack it."

"If you give me permission, I think it's also a good idea to secure any entrances into the hospital with traps or something. Just to be safe." There were times when Hazard chose to forego small talk and this happened to be one of them. Once he ran out of ideas, though, he was able and willing to talk normally. He just couldn't help sharing his ideas with the leader of the Carrion, because he liked to think that was one of his jobs in the tribe. Maybe Sensei thought it was too, and that would be awesome.

There wasn't much else to do than wander around the hospital, considering all the snow. It might be awhile before anyone would venture outside again. Who wanted to go out in the snow and the cold anyway? So, that's what Sensei was doing. Just walking around the hospital, making sure everyone was alright as a good leader should. He didn't want any of the Carrion to have problems and he didn't ever want to let them down. He toke his role as a leader extremely seriously.

The sound of wheels rolling down the hallway caught his attention. He knew some of the kids thought it was fun to ride the medical carts around sometimes. As long as they didn't get hurt doing it, it wasn't a problem to him. Sensei kept walking, chuckling slightly to himself until Hazard came up to him. "Nothing much, Hazard." He figured that the younger boy was either going to start telling him ideas or start into conversation. And from the looks of things, it was ideas. He listened to the ideas, finding that they were pretty good. You never could be too careful. And since his aim was to keep everyone safe, he was always open to ideas.

"Those are some pretty good ideas, actually. I like the traps idea. Never can be too safe and all that." He nodded with a smile. "I'll give you permission for that, as long as everyone else knows how to get in or out without setting the traps off. As for the code, that might be a bit more complicated. We'd have to teach everyone how to read it and the majority of us don't exactly have the attention span for that." Most of their ranks were kids even younger than Hazard. They would have to know how to read the code, right?

Hazard knew how much Sensei cared about the well-being of the Carrion, which was one of the best qualities about him. He wanted to be a leader himself one day and he had access to such a figure regularly. What else could be better? The guy wasn't exactly a father-figure to him because he already had a big brother and Hazard wanted another dynamic in his life as well. Ideas never stopped flowing and he always threw himself out there in order to help everyone else. If the others saw what he was willing to sacrifice for them, then they'd start to respect him - respect was the key for any leader, any spy. It was carefully formed and he had high hopes.

"Thank you." Knowing that Sensei appreciated his ideas meant a great deal to the young teenager. He nodded once as he listened to his leader's reply. "Of course, safety is my top priority. I will brief everyone when they are complete - oh yeah, and I have to find a couple of guys to help me because of the size of the vicinity." Not that he couldn't assemble the traps himself, but efficiency was also important. "I'm sure the others will like the idea of a secret code that only we know. It'll be fun, especially if we write insults about the other tribes in mud on the walls in the city and no one would know..." He grinned briefly at that and then his professional expression covered his face.

There was also the matter of offering his assistance. "Is there anything else I can help you with? I think I might try to go outside and find more things to keep us warm," he added. Maybe the other tribes had stolen something to create fire or a supply of blankets he didn't know about. The town might not provide them with supplies to help them survive for much longer. "Have you considered leaving this place to go to the closest town? The situation over there might be better. They may have a surplus of materials and food...I volunteer to go at the next opportunity." It never hurt to put the idea out there, was his motto. "And I also volunteer my brother. He doesn't get out much." A perfect example of Hazard's lame humor.

Of course Sensei appreciated Hazard's ideas. He appreciated anyone who had ideas for keeping up the well being of the tribe as a whole. "I'm sure there are more than enough people around here who would be willing to help you. Most of them would be happy to have something to keep busy with." Sure, it would have worked if he tried to assemble the traps himself. But with help the task would be completed quicker. "True. Well, as long as you think you can handle it I don't have a problem with it. Just let me know if you need me to help."

At the mention of other assistance, he thought about it a little bit. "Food and more things to keep warm are on the top of the list, at the moment." There had to be more supplies out there that they just hadn't found yet. "I haven't, at least not yet. But it might need to happen some time in the near future." Things would likely change. And soon. "Well, your brother might not be as enthusiastic about it, but you're free to try and drag him along should the opportunity arise."

Hazard wanted to keep the tribe together and safe. Hell, he fancied himself Sensei's right hand man, the one others would turn to if their leader wasn't around for some reason. He nodded at the comment about there being other people to help him. "I think I know who I want to recruit too," he said. "And don't worry, I can handle it." Though he liked to seem self-assured, Hazard was grateful for the offer of help. It had to be a good sign that the man appreciated everything Hazard did for him. "I'll have things up and running within a couple of days." Perhaps he estimated a too little time for thinking of and making the traps, but since he already had a couple of ideas in mind for them, that had to help.

Right, of course food and warmth were top priority. The teenage boy's eyes were intense with rapt attention as he listened to Sensei. "Noted." Every time he said that meant Hazard would go out to find it with any means necessary. "I will. But I don't need his help. I'm more than willing to accomplish such a mission independantly. I don't think he'd mind the adventure even if it's hard work." Who could resist the thrilling call of adventure or a mission? He liked to do either with all his ability. A familar glint in his eyes indicated that Hazard was on the brink of charging forth and going outside of town anyway in order to help the Carrion and there was little anyone except Sensei and Blaze could say to stop him.

"I'm going to go get supplies," he stated, standing straight. Getting supplies right before making traps and then he was off to leave town, so he probably wouldn't see Sensei and his brother for a while. Hazard knew that they were probably going to caution and warn him like they always did, and figured it was probably better to leave suddenly to save himself grief.
