Background:
Sungje is a smart kid. A really smart kid. He has a degree in Microbiology from a university in Ohio, and has come to New York because of a job offer from a prestigious research facility. But because of his spontaneity (and qualms at the amount of paperwork he was expected to produce), he rejected the offer, and instead applied at a nearby hospital, content with the not so demanding job. He’s happy with his bacterial cultures and laboratory setting, even if the working hours it asked from him were so irregular it had completely messed up his sleeping patterns. His older sister Saeri contacted Jongwoon, and by stroke of luck, the apartment he was staying at had a vacancy, and it was even just next door to Jongwoon’s. It was bigger and had two bedrooms, and a few days after arrival at New York, Sungje immediately placed an ad in the newspaper for a roommate.
He grew up in a normal family. He finished high school the same time as Saeri, and the family migrated to the US right after. Sungje’s powers first manifested when he was thirteen. That year, his best friend (first love?) died from leukemia and he stayed at her grave for hours, even after her family had left. He stayed there, even when the tears had stopped coming, even when it started to rain. He felt himself shiver from the cold and just a moment after, he felt warm again. That’s when he noticed that the drops of water turned to steam the moment it touched his skin; his clothes, instantly drying. Being the inquisitive kid he is, he studied his power on his own. He wasn’t scared of it; rather he was astounded, and didn’t let a chance go by to be able to learn more of it. After a while, he discovered he could manipulate the temperature of water as long as he has direct contact with it. (Meaning he can heat your soup, but he has to dip his finger in it.) If he concentrated hard enough, he could control it to an exact degree. It’s one of the reasons why the weather seldom bothers him; he just manipulates the vapor around his person to cool or warm him up. The full extent of his powers has not been tested yet.
Sungje is amused that people don’t easily believe he’s a science (or more like a bacteria) geek, and it’s not like he can blame them-he certainly doesn’t look like one. He seldom talks about his work, prefers to keep it to himself or to his colleagues. Inside the hospital he is analytical, methodical; he correlates and deduces until he successfully identifies an isolate. Outside, he is a dreamer-one who loves to gaze at the stars (Sirius is his favorite) and look for amazing astronomy images that never fail to astound him. He doesn’t attempt to study it in detail even if he can, preferring to appreciate the beauty as he sees it. He dreams of many things, like to be a dancer, a singer, to travel all over the world, but to be a theater performer on top of it. He knows there's a small chance of it happening, but that doesn't stop him.
Turning 22 late this year, Sungje is a happy, sweet, and easy-going type of guy. He may be shy at first, but he loosens up pretty easily. His geeky side may surface in the presence of company once in a while, but not if he can help it. He loves taking pictures of anything, everyone and specially himself-he even has lots of folders full of it. Every time it rains, he spends some time under it, in memory of his best friend. He’s affectionate towards people he’s close with, Jongwoon including, and the latter has to get used again to Sungje draping himself all over him. Not like Jongwoon can do anything about it, since Sungje towers over him.
Preferred RP Style: Paragraph over IJ or MSN.
Anything Else: I gave in to the magic fingers. ;o; (ability totally inspired by the icon. *coughs*)
