The unexpected question drew a slight, but genuine, smile from Adam. With a little nod of his head AC found himself feeling down right embarrassed. Still honesty was the best policy, or so his mom had often said, and so the chef just spoke up at last. "I got my first stipend amount already, but ended up spending it on clothes and toiletries. Figured have something clean to wear, and being able to brush my teeth trumped the extras right off the bat." He had already bought his sister a birthday gift before setting foot on the Island. However it, along with most of his other possessions had been confiscated when Parish arrived.
Oh he already planned on making Zoe a proper cake, but coming to the Market today also offered a possible chance to trade his goods for something his twin would like as well. As Daryn spoke up anew, and pointed out the vendor area too, he listened intently. Eyes drawn to the area, then back to the kind woman as well. It wasn't hard to notice her present state by any means. Yet instead of rudely bringing it up AC just offered a brighter smile before holding up the basket filled with the still warm apple and cherry turnovers.
"Thanks. Pretty sure I'd have gotten lost for a good hour or so just trying to find the right place. The intel was definitely worth a tasty treat, so please help yourself!" Even as the offer was extended his smile faltered just a tad, as Adam's eyes drifted down to the paper sign hanging from the basket. Sharing food suited him, yet in truth the chef felt nervous about how others would view him when they read his warning. It had already been tough wrapping his head around the fact that he wasn't normal at all; yet the prospect of people not wanting anything to do with the food he made now...that scared the chef more than he'd care to admit. Even to himself.
